In honor of ABC’s “The Goldbergs” receiving its first ever TV Guide Magazine cover, the publication has turned back the dial with an all ’80s-themed issue, due out on newsstands later this week. As part of the celebration, several of daytime’s biggest hunks from the decade will be featured in the upcoming issue, including Kin Shriner (as Scotty Baldwin, “General Hospital”), Stephen Nichols (as Steven “Patch” Johnson, “Days of our Lives”), A Martinez (as Cruz Castillo, “Santa Barbara”), Doug Davidson (as Paul Williams, “The Young and the Restless”), Don Diamont (as Brad Carlton, “The Young and the Restless”) and Michael E. Knight (as Tad Martin, “All My Children”).

“Days of our Lives” viewers were stunned, this week, when Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope’s (Kristian Alfonso) only daughter, Ciara (Vivian Jovanni) was raped at the hands of her step brother Chase (Jonathon McClendon). Sure, the young teen seemed a bit off and moody, but nobody suspected he could ever be capable of such violence, especially against someone he claimed to truly care about like Ciara. 

Ever since Kate Mansi (Abigail Deveraux) announced she was leaving “Days of our Lives” when her contract expires, fans have been agonizing over the impending loss. Not only will they be losing the show’s most popular 20-something heroine, but also half of the most beloved and charismatic supercouple the soap has developed in years, Chad and Abby. That is, unless “DAYS” recasts Abigail.

It seems like one memorial service after the next, these days on “Days of our Lives.” First, Will Horton (Guy Wilson) was murdered. Then, Bo Brady (Peter Reckell) succumbed to a brain tumor. Then, Daniel Jonas (Shawn Christian) was killed in a car crash, followed by Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo) being shot to death by Hope.

He took three bullets square in the chest, collapsed in a chair, and was pronounced dead by Rafe (Galen Gering). The Phoenix, as portrayed by Joseph Mascolo, appears to be done for good, this time around, with no chance of ever rising again. Did “Days of our Lives” make a huge mistake killing off Stefano?

Last week on CBS’ “The Young and the Restless,” actor Jason Thompson (ex-Patrick Drake, “General Hospital”) made his debut as Billy Abbott. Are you watching?

“General Hospital’s” Dante (Dominic Zambrogna) and Lulu (Emme Rylan) have been in a marital mess for months. It all started when Dante wrongly thought Lulu cheated on him with Dillon (Robert Palmer Watkins), so he retaliated by sleeping with Valerie (Brytni Sarpi) Add Lulu’s ex, Johnny (Brandon Barash), to the mix and things got even more complicated.

After eight years of playing suave Salem surgeon Daniel Jonas, actor Shawn Christian was let go from “Days of our Lives.” In a stunning move, his character was scripted as the victim in a fatal car crash caused by a drunk Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan).

Although I must admit that I may not always know the answers to their blind items right off the bat, I’ve long found myself fascinated with Soap Opera Digest‘s “Stuff We Know (And Shouldn’t Tell You)” mini-section. Why you ask? Because it’s no fun to be told something in print and not have anyone to talk about it with! What about you? There were a lot of ghosts and ghouls running around last week for Halloween, but they weren’t the only blasts from the pasts as of late. “It’s impossible to forget Samantha Brady!” declared Caroline (Peggy McCay) on yesterday’s episode of “Days of our Lives,” exactly mirroring the thoughts that many of the sudser’s fans have had on their minds leading up to star Alison Sweeney’s last episode today. Many tears have been shed (both onscreen and off), but was the character’s exit really movie magic? Or would a completely different ending been the way to go?

And was the story the best way for Scott’s alter ego to be written off the canvas?

And as the characters’ time in Salem draws near to an end, their complicated connection appears to be nothing short of the exhilarating emotional journey its been since the couple first met in 2006.
