Ever since Kate Mansi (Abigail Deveraux) announced she was leaving “Days of our Lives” when her contract expires, fans have been agonizing over the impending loss. Not only will they be losing the show’s most popular 20-something heroine, but also half of the most beloved and charismatic supercouple the soap has developed in years, Chad and Abby. That is, unless “DAYS” recasts Abigail.
Sure, imagining Billy Flynn‘s Chad DiMera with another Abby is nearly impossible. However, that could eventually be the case. Back in January, “DAYS” put out a casting call for a 24 to 28-year-old character named Val, who sounded suspiciously like Abby. She was described as a gorgeous professional, who had experienced great love and great loss in her young life. And although she was strong and spirit, there was a fragility about her.
What are your thoughts on how the show should handle Mansi’s departure? Would you welcome a new actress as Abigail? Remember, few thought Ashley Benson could be replaced when she exited the role in 2007, but then along came Mansi, who quickly made the role her own.
