Browsing: The Price is Right

As previously reported, everyone loves CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” and the year-to-year growth in Total Viewers, Women 25-54 and Women 18-49 during the week of October 6-10, 2014 continues to prove that point. In addition to “Y&R,” CBS is experiencing overall growth with “The Bold and the Beautiful,” “The Price is Right,” “Let’s Make a Deal” and “The Talk.” In the case of “B&B,” the soap is seeing plenty of women enjoying the storyline surrounding Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) and Caroline Spencer Forrester (Linsey Godfrey) along with the happenings of Hope Logan (Kim Matula) following the recent revelation that she’s with child after a recent romp with one of the Spencer brothers. The soap is up 23% in Women 25-54 and 38% in Women 18-49 compared to the same week last year.

Each Monday, we plan to publish our weekly Daytime Ratings Report, which covers the broadcast soaps, game shows and talk shows. Unfortunately, due to an arm injury I sustained last Thursday, my typing skills have been put to the test and the report was delayed. Alas, I’m feeling a lot less pain than I did for much of the past week so here now is the daytime ratings report for the week of September 29-October 3, 2014. Better late than never, right? This week we highlight how the broadcast shows ranked overall in Total Viewers, Men 18+, Adults 18-49 and Median Age.

On Thursday, September 25, Soap Opera Network reported that CBS completed its 28th year as the most watched network in daytime with its highly ranked lineup consisting of soap operas “The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and the Beautiful,” game shows “The Price is Right” and “Let’s Make a Deal,” and growing talker “The Talk.” In honor of their continued success the network has bestowed upon the cast and crews of each program a plaque that highlights key reasons everyone watches CBS Daytime.

As Soap Opera Network gets ready to celebrate its 13th anniversary on Wednesday, October 8, we are proud to announce that we will begin providing our readers with weekly ratings reports for not just the daytime soaps, but also talk shows “The Chew,” “The Talk,” “The View,” “The Today Show 2” and “The Today Show 3,” as well as game shows “Let’s Make a Deal” and “The Price is Right,” along with the previously reported ratings for “The Young and the Restless,” “Days of our Lives,” “General Hospital” and “The Bold and the Beautiful.” The charts, which will vary week to week, does not take away from the weekly daytime drama rankings we will continue posting each week, but instead represents what daytime programming as a whole looks like when compared with one another and not based solely on genre.

With game shows “Let’s Make a Deal” and “The Price is Right,” “The Talk” and daytime drama “The Bold and the Beautiful,” CBS Daytime continues to grow its audience year-over-year after just one week into the new television season (week of September 22-26) based on Nielsen Media Research live plus same day ratings data.

The final week of the 2013-2014 television season came to a close last week (week of September 15-19, 2014) and CBS Daytime ended the year on top for the 28th consecutive year! “The Bold and the Beautiful” attracted its largest audience since the 2006-07 television season, while “The Young and the Restless” scored its most watched season in viewers since the 2009-10 television season. Meanwhile, “Let’s Make a Deal” and “The Talk” hit their best numbers ever in viewers as “The Price is Right 1” delivered its largest audience since the 2004-05 season and “The Price is Right 2” brought in its biggest audience since the 2006-07 season.

If you think you’re one of the biggest fans of the CBS Daytime lineup — including “The Bold and the Beautiful,” “The Young and the Restless,” “The Talk,” “Let’s Make a Deal,” and “The Price Is Right,” then you just might have a chance to win something pretty spectacular: The gift bag the network gave out at its Emmy party!

In case you were wondering how the networks and the shows stacked up when nominees for the 41st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards were announced this morning, Soap Opera Network has you covered! As previously reported, CBS leads the pack with 61 nominations overall with “The Young and the Restless” in particular leading all shows with 26 nominations. But, how do the other networks and shows stack up?

Like it did last year, CBS swept “The 41st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards” nominations with 61 nominations in total, leading all networks. This was an increase from the 49 nominations it received last year. “The Young and the Restless” led the way for the network with 26 nominations overall. It was followed by “The Bold and the Beautiful” with 18. Like last year, “The Talk” had 5 nominations. “CBS Sunday Morning” and “Let’s Make a Deal” each received 3 nominations, while “The Price is Right” had 2 and “CBS This Morning” had 1.

When CBS opted to honor the life of Jeanne Cooper (Katherine Chancellor, “Y&R) with a special tribute airing in place of an original episode of the daytime soap, the decision resulted in an Emmy nomination for the emotional road down memory lane.

“The Price Is Right” has crossed over with “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “The Young and the Restless,” and “B&B” and “Y&R” just recently did a crossover storyline based around a major fashion show. But just because it’s recently been done doesn’t mean viewers should expect the CBS Daytime shows to stop intertwining anytime soon, as there’s one more crossover already added to the docket: “Let’s Make a Deal’s” Jonathan Mangum is heading to “The Bold and the Beautiful!”

As we previously reported, former “All My Children” star Robert Scott Wilson (ex-Pete Cortlandt) is headed to “Days of our Lives,” where he’ll be taking over Justin Gaston’s role as Ben. Hot on the heels of the news, the actor himself took to Instagram to comment on his new journey — as well as his final episode of “The Price Is Right” (where he debuted as the show’s first male model) and the anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombing.
