In the January 4, 2016 issue of Soap Opera Digest, on newsstands now, “Days of our Lives” executive producer Ken Corday revealed the reasons behind the soap’s decision to bring back actor Brandon Beemer (ex-Owen Knight, “The Bold and the Beautiful”) to the role of Shawn Douglas Brady, the eldest child of Hope (Kristian Alfonso) and Bo (Peter Reckell), so soon after the blink-and-you-missed-it return and departure of original adult portrayer Jason Cook.
With anticipation of returning characters, historic moments, and happy memories upon us as “Days of our Lives” celebrates its 50th anniversary later this fall, the daytime drama series is set to release a new photo book titled “Days of our Lives: 50 Years,” which was pieced together by co-executive producer Greg Meng. As part of the release, a multi-city promotional tour has been scheduled.
With new head writers on the horizon it was inevitable that “Days of our Lives” would also be getting a new teen scene, especially with what executive producer Ken Corday says to TV Insider‘s Michael Logan of something his late mother, Betty, used to share with him: “‘You have to water the roots of the [Days of our Lives] tree with a new generation every 10 years or so’ and that’s what we’ve done,” notes Corday to Logan. “These are the children of the children of the children of the children, and they are vital to our future.”
With production beginning this month, Michael Caruso‘s “Winterthorne” has added “One Life to Live” alum John-Paul Lavoisier to its cast. The soap star will portray the role of Hugh Cambridge, a handsome and mysterious man, who shares a past with Miranda Winterthorne, portrayed by “Days of our Lives” alum, Martha Madison. The character is said to be hell bent on becoming a member of the Winterthorne family and will go about any means necessary, including seducing Miranda, to get what he wants.
This is going to be awesome! “General Hospital’s” Kirsten Storms (Maxie Jones) is joining the cast of “Winterthorne,” which stars “Days of our Lives” alum Martha Madison, who like Storms before her, portrayed Belle Black on NBC’s “Days of our Lives.” Storms is set to play Selene Winterthorne, the younger sister of Miranda (Madison), who returns after being absent for many years with an offer to change the candy company empire forever.

The series, titled “Winterthorne,” follows the story of Miranda Winterthorne (Madison), a young women looking to take control of the family empire by using her best assets: Power, seduction, vulnerability, love, and ruthlessness. It is with great sadness to report that Paul Skipper, a long-time photographer at JPI Studios, died on Tuesday, June 4 (previously incorrectly reported by us as Monday, June 3). While it is unknown at this time what caused Skipper’s death, tweets have gone out from several past and present “Days of our Lives” cast/crew members, which is the show Skipper primarily shot for, including one from Eric Martsolf (Brady Black) that read: “Paul Skipper- RIP. No one shot more terrific pictures for our genre.” His tweet was responded to by Crystal Chappell (ex-Carly Manning), who said “so very true. Loved his dear heart.”
