Comings & Goings

“All My Children” and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” alum Sarah Michelle Gellar to play the Grim Reaper in supernatural romance film “Thud,” with Rudy Pankow as the devil.

CBS Daytime’s slogan is that the network is one big family, and “The Young and the Restless” is making a small move to make it literal: They’ve hired the little sister of Jessica Collins (Avery Clark)!

“The Young and the Restless’” Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) is already getting a blast from the past in the form of booze bottles, but the sauced-up socialite is about to get another: “Family Ties” star Meredith Baxter is hitting Genoa City as Maureen, Nikki’s new drinking buddy!

“The Young and the Restless’” Billy Abbot has seen quite a transformation in recent months. After portrayer Billy Miller decided to walk away from the show in January of this year, former portrayer David Tom was cast in the role. But just a few short months later, it was announced that Tom — who previously played the character from 1999 to 2002 — had been ordered to pack his bags so that daytime newcomer Burgess Jenkins could step into the role. And while it was Miller’s decision to leave the character he’d played since 2008, the same cannot be said for Tom, who was reportedly very surprised to learn he’d been replaced with Jenkins after just four months of being back in the role! So what happened to lead to such a quick casting turnaround? We asked CBS Vice President of Daytime, Angelica McDaniel, who told Soap Opera Network that the recast was not an easy turn of events for anyone involved.

“The Bold and the Beautiful’s” Darin Brooks (Wyatt Fuller) is celebrating his recent engagement to Kelly Kruger (ex-Mackenzie Browning, “The Young and the Restless”), but that’s not all he has to be happy about: It looks like his future life partner will also be joining him at work!

Tongues were left wagging after “General Hospital” star Kimberly McCullough (ex-Robin Scorpio) tweeted out a photo of a script on Sunday night along with the tease: “A day in the life of a soap actor. Say ‘soap-y’ I dare you.” Was it a “GH” script? Did the tweet mean she was returning to Port Charles?

After appearing on CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” for the past couple of years in a somewhat recurring capacity, actress Eileen Davidson has signed a contract with the Sony Pictures Television produced soap, which guarantees fans will be seeing a lot more of Ashley Abbott on a more consistent basis.

On Monday, June 16, Michael Saucedo returns to ABC’s “General Hospital” as Juan Santiago, who is back in Port Charles to support his cousin, Sabrina Santiago (Teresa Castillo), during her hour of need. You’ll recall that Sabrina’s baby with Patrick Drake (Jason Thompson), Gabriel Drake Santiago, died last week following the hit -and-run car accident that forced the early delivery of the child in late April.

Rumors of Billy Miller (ex-Billy Abbott, “The Young and the Restless”) joining the cast of ABC’s “General Hospital” have been out there almost as long as rumors of Michelle Stafford (ex-Phyllis Summers, “Y&R”) joining the daytime drama series had been, but sometimes rumors turn out to have major truth to them, especially with Stafford recently joining the cast in the contract role of Nina Clay. Earlier this evening, TV Guide’s Michael Logan tweeted, “Billy Miller. General Hospital. Done deal? This is what I’m hearing.”
