Ratings Report for the Week of June 30 – July 4, 2014

There’s no doubt that the Daytime Emmy Awards play a large part of the daytime industry, but just how prevalent is the golden statue when it comes to the every day work lives of the people who make up the genre? Soap Opera Network spoke with performers, writers, producers and more to get their take on how often and how much the Emmys impact their work lives. Does the event and its promised accolades inspire them to work harder? Do they keep the Emmys in mind when filming, writing and performing scenes? And are the Emmy awards really necessary for the industry? There are varying opinions, so read on to find out what some of the genre’s heavy hitters had to say!

“Days of our Lives,” “General Hospital,” “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “The Young and the Restless” are about to get some serious competition: The popular Australian soap opera “Neighbours” is making it’s debut in the United States this month, and to kick off the show’s exciting new journey, pop singer and former “American Idol” judge Paula Abdul is guest-starring!

Ever heard the rumor that working on a soap opera is one of the toughest acting jobs out there? Well, according to some industry insiders like “Days of our Lives’” casting director Marnie Saitta, “The Bold and the Beautiful’s” John McCook (Eric Forrester), “General Hospital’s” Anthony Geary, and “The Young and the Restless’” Max Ehrich (Fenmore Baldwin), daytime gigs are some of the toughest jobs to land — and keep, as well!

Now that she’s wrapped up her 21-year stint as “Days of our Lives’” Samantha Brady, Alison Sweeney (Samantha Brady) is heading to a different soap opera: “General Hospital!”

“Days of our Lives'” Jen Lilley (Theresa Donovan) always stuns on the red carpet, but she was especially beautiful at the 41st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.

Soap Opera Network’s coverage of the red carpet at the 41st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards continues, this time with Natalia Livingston, who was supporting three shows: “Tainted Dreams” (on which she plays Liza Park), “General Hospital” (on which she played Emily Bowen-Quartermaine) and “Days of our Lives” (on which she played Taylor Walker).

Red carpet fashion is typically about the ladies, but not when it comes to the men of daytime! Soap Opera Network caught up with quite a few dashing dudes during the 41st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, beginning with “Days of our Lives'” Guy Wilson (Will Horton)!

Eileen Davidson — who’s now on contract as Ashley Abbott on “The Young and the Restless,” but was nominated as Outstanding Lead Actress for her work as “Days of our Lives'” Kristen DiMera — took a cue from the statue she ended up winning at the end of the night. Just like the golden award, she sparkled on the red carpet during the 41st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.

The 41st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards may be over, but the after-event fun has just begun! Once again proving that its at the top of the heap when it comes to daytime, CBS swept the 41st Annual Daytime Emmy awards with 13 drama related wins, leading all networks. “The Young and the Restless” took home a combined total of nine wins during the Creative Arts Emmy Awards and the Emmy Awards, while “The Bold and the Beautiful” managed to snag four. NBC’s “Days of our Lives” took home three Emmy awards, while ABC’s “General Hospital” garnered two. Meanwhile, Toln.com’s “All My Children” won three awards, while “One Life to Live” took home three, as well.

Last night, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences officially announced the winners of the 41st annual Daytime Emmy Awards in a star-studded gala at The Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles. As previously reported, “The 41st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards” will air live exclusively on the internet for the first time on Sunday, June 22 from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. While you get yourself prepared to watch daytime’s biggest night online, The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) has announced the presenter lineup for the telecast, which includes several of daytime’s biggest names from soap operas, talk shows and game shows, among many other genres airing during the daypart.

In 2013, “The Bold and the Beautiful’s” Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke Logan) and Heather Tom (Katie Logan) and “Days of our Lives'” Eileen Davidson (Kristen DiMera) and Arianne Zucker (Nicole Walker) proved they were the outstanding leading ladies for their respective daytime dramas. They now compete with each other to find out which of them was the most Outstanding Lead Actress in a Daytime Drama Series during “The 41st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.”

In 2013, “The Bold and the Beautiful’s” Scott Clifton (Liam Spencer), “Days of our Lives'” Eric Martsolf (Brady Black), “General Hospital’s” Bradford Anderson (ex-Damian Spinelli) and Dominic Zamprogna (Dante Falconeri) and “The Young and the Restless'” Steve Burton (Dylan McAvoy) proved they were the outstanding supporting gentlemen for their respective daytime dramas. On Sunday, June 22, they now compete with each other to find out which of them was the most Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Daytime Drama Series during “The 41st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.”
