As previously reported, NBC’s “Days of our Lives” began searching for a “legitimate” native Australian actor to portray the new 13-week minimum contract role of Finn, a doctor doing his residency in Salem, specifically looking to gain skills as a surgeon, under the guidance of Dr. Daniel Jonas (Shawn Christian). In partnership with Australia’s Arena TV, a division of Foxtel, the daytime drama series announced today that it has narrowed its search down to three finalists: Sydney actor Alexander Bruszt, Sydney actor/musician Andrew Steel and Gold Coast actor Tom Dalzell, who is already Los Angeles based.

As it gears up to broadcast its first major awards telecast with the “42nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards” on Sunday, April 26, Pop has released the Daytime Emmy Nominee Reels for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Competing this year for the coveted trophy are Linsey Godfrey as Caroline Spencer on “The Bold and the Beautiful,” Amelia Heinle as Victoria Newman and Elizabeth Hendrickson as Chloe Mitchell, respectively, on “The Young and the Restless,” and Finola Hughes as Anna Devane and Lisa LoCicero as Olivia Falconeri on “General Hospital.”

Fans of “The Young and the Restless'” Amelia Heinle (Victoria Newman) and Sean Carrigan (Stitch Rayburn) will have the opportunity of taking part in a Meet & Greet and/or Q&A session with the daytime stars as the duo will be appearing at the Rising Star Casino Resort in Rising Sun, Indiana on Saturday, April 18. General admission tickets are just $10 for both the Meet & Greet and Q&A session.

If a year ago someone bet me that a modern-day soap opera would not only put their African-American characters in a front burner storyline that was deeply entrenched in social issues, which had nothing to do with the color of one’s skin, race or ethnicity, I’d owe that person plenty of money right about now.

When news first hit the web in August 2012 of Duke Lavery being very much alive on ABC’s “General Hospital,” it not only became a trending topic in the United States on Twitter, but also worldwide. Congratulations are in order for “General Hospital’s” Jason Thompson (Patrick Drake), who wed long-time girlfriend, Paloma Jonas, co-founder and Los Angeles based designer of Valentine NYC. The two were wed on Easter Sunday, April 5, in an intimate ceremony on the beach in San Pancho, Mexico, according to photos published on social media. The two got engaged last July.
