Get ready for a star studded event, because the nominees for the 20th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards for outstanding performances in 2013 have been officially been announced, and the list is pretty spectacular! Five film and eight television categories, as well as the SAG Awards honors for outstanding action performances by film and television stunt ensembles, are included in this year’s nominations, which honor a variety of stars like Tom Hanks, Matthew McConaughey, Alec Baldwin, Oprah Winfrey, Sandra Bullock and “Scandal’s” Kerry Washington.

Out of all the talent behind “All My Children” and “One Life to Live,” the one voice missing after news that neither series would be moving forward with new episodes was that of Daytime Emmy Award winning actress Erika Slezak (ex-Victoria Lord, “OLTL”). On her official website, Slezak has broken her silence via her 2013 Holiday Letter for fans. In it, Slezak says, “I loved being back at ‘OLTL’; I loved being back with all my friends on the show and we had a wonderful time although it was short lived. Still, I am very grateful for that brief opportunity to have played Viki once more.”
See “General Hospital’s” Rick Springfield (Dr. Noah Drake) as you’ve never seen him perform. From personal stories to stories from concert fields, the documentary film, “An Affair of the Heart,” follows the life of the multi-talented actor/musician from the perspective of his fans who share details on when they first discovered him and what makes him such an icon in their lives. The film was recently released on DVD/blu-ray and hails from an idea by producer Melanie Lentz-Janney, who has been a loyal fan of Rick’s for thirty years. “The Young and the Restless'” Doug Davidson along with “GH’s'” Jacklyn Zeman, Kimberly McCullough, Jason Thompson and Brandon Barash also appear in the film.
Thaao Penghlis (ex-Tony DiMera, “Days of our Lives”) is set to reprise his role as Victor Cassadine on ABC’s “General Hospital” in the new year, confirms a show representative to Soap Opera Network. The actor last played the role more than 30 years ago, when the character met his supposed death, but with the actor returning does that mean that the brother of Anthony and Mikkos Cassadine is in fact alive? The American Film Institute (AFI) announced today its official selections for its annual AFI Awards, which honors the 10 outstanding films and 10 outstanding television programs that it deemed “culturally and artistically representative of the year’s most significant achievements in the art of the moving image.” In the TV category, AFI is celebrating “The Americans,” “Breaking Bad,” “Game of Thrones,” “The Good Wife,” “House of Cards,” “Mad Men,” “Masters of Sex,” “Orange is the New Black,” “Scandal,” and “Veep.” In film, AFI chose “12 Years a Slave, ” “American Hustle,” “Captain Phillips,” Fruitvale Station,” “Gravity,” “Her,” Inside Llewyn Davis,” “Nebraska,” “Saving Mr. Banks,” and “The Wolf of Wall Street.”
In an newly released interview with Soap Opera Digest columnist and Tainted Dreams blogger, Carolyn Hinsey, “The Bold and the Beautiful’s” Thorsten Kaye opens up about his role as Ridge Forrester on the CBS Daytime soap, but it’s his comments on Prospect Parks’ version of “All My Children” and “One Life to Live” that has all eyes open.
On Friday, December 13, Ridge Forrester returns to CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful” as played by daytime soap veteran, Thorsten Kaye. The actor takes over the role from Ronn Moss, who departed the series in 2012. Back in June, “Days of our Lives'” Casey Deidrick (ex-Chad DiMera) and Chandler Massey (Will Horton), along with their And I Still Rise bandmates Stephen Haynes, Mike Gross and Josh Bonaparte, launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund a music video for their song, “Sixty Five Roses,” in support of those living with Cystic Fibrosis. Last week the group released the music video on YouTube with a digital copy of the song made available for purchase on the iTunes store. The band received nearly $31,000 in funding for their online campaign, which exceeded their goal of $20,000. The video was directed by Robby Starbuck.

Tonight on ABC’s “Revenge,” which returns from a three week hiatus, the wedding of Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp) and Daniel Grayson (Josh Bowman) is fast approaching and Emily must put the finishing touches on her final takedown – Victoria Grayson (Madeleine Stowe) herself. In tonight’s episode, entitled “Surrender,” Victoria learns that Emily is pregnant after a supposed altercation with a recently revealed alive Lydia results in Emily slipping and falling.

While reporting on the nominees for the 2014 Writers Guild of America Awards (See: WGA Nominations: ‘Days of our Lives’, ‘General Hospital’ and ‘The Young and the Restless’), a couple of names appeared to have been omitted, specifically “Days of our Lives” co-head writer, Gary Tomlin, and former “The Young and the Restless” head writer, Josh Griffith. A couple of you inquired with us about that, and I in fact initially questioned it myself, at least until I was quickly reminded that both Tomlin and Griffith went “fi-core” during the 2007-2008 writers strike.
“It started as a friendship, but one night became an obsession” is the message behind “Nurse 3D,” a new thriller that finds Paz de la Huerta (“Boardwalk Empire”) as Abby Russell, a nurse by day at All Saints Memorial Hospital; by night, Abby hits up the hottest night clubs looking to lure unfaithful men into dangerous dalliances. A new arrival at the hospital, Danni Rogers (played by Katrina Bowden; “30 Rock,” “One Life to Live”) finds herself receiving unwelcoming attention from Abby, who at first appears to want friendship, but when Danni doesn’t seem interested in the type friendship offered, Abby becomes obsessed and begins to turn Danni’s world into a living hell. Corbin Bleu (ex-Jeffrey King, “OLTL”) also stars in the film as Danni’s boyfriend, Steve. The cast is rounded out by Judd Nelson as Dr. Robert Morris, Boris Kodjoe as Detective Rogan, Adam Herschman as Jared, Niecy Nash as Regina, and Martin Donovan as Larry Cook.
One week ago today actor Paul Walker (ex-Brandon Collins, “The Young and the Restless”) died in a fiery car accident that also took the life of his friend Roger Rodas, CEO of Always Evolving, who was driving the red 2005 Porsche Carrera GT at the time when it crashed into a tree and exploded. According to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office, Walker died from “the combined effects of traumatic and thermal injuries,” while Rodas died as a result of “multiple traumatic injuries.” In memory of Walker, producers behind “The Fast and the Furious” film franchise, which he was best known for, published a tribute video (seen below) of the actor on its official YouTube page. The video has currently amassed 16.7 million views worldwide.
