It’s a day that almost never came, but thanks to the team at Prospect Park, “One Life to Live” is celebrating its 45th anniversary today, July 15. In honor of the sudser’s big milestone, iconic actresses Erika Slezak (Victoria Lord) and Kassie DePaiva (Blair Cramer) spoke with reporters about their favorite memories, proudest moments and surprisingly awkward first days.
On Sunday, June 16, during “The 40th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards,” Kristen Alderson took home the Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal of Starr Manning on “General Hospital.”
As exclusively reported by Soap Opera Network in early April, Blair Cramer (Kassie DePaiva) wow’d the Shelter crowd with song on The OnLine Network’s “One Life to Live” on the Thursday, May 30 episode as Llanview experienced a peculiar blackout. As everything seemed to be going wrong, Todd Manning (Roger Howarth) insisted that Blair entertain the crowd until the power was restored.
The song Blair sang was “No Regrets,” DePaiva’s hit single off her 2004 CD of the same name. As sung by Blair, “No Regrets” featured lyrics that were a subtle hint to Todd that Blair’s not over him.
When “One Life to Live” went off the air just over a year ago it was my favorite daily drama and it had been for quite some time. So, while the show’s ratings were rising, it was quite a shock to learn it had been canceled in 2011. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous with the series coming back, but this time without executive producer Frank Valentini and head writer Ron Carlivati.
As evidenced by the first episode of “One Life to Live,” life in Llanview has continued long after the soap ended its ABC run in January 2012. No, we don’t mean that the soap has jumped ahead five years as sister soap “All My Children” has done in order to progress its storylines, we mean characters didn’t just walk upstairs to the attic and kept silent and still while the millions of fans mourned their reported last breaths. Scheduled to re-launch on Monday, April 29 via Hulu, Hulu Plus and iTunes, the soap is about to take things higher with the opening of Blair’s new night club, Shelter, as the backdrop to getting things moving once more.
Hulu has released its newest video promoting the returns of “All My Children” and “One Life to Live.” The video, titled “They’re Back,” gives viewers a glimpse into how much edgier, sexier, hotter and bolder each soap now is as they get closer to their online debuts courtesy of The OnLine Network.
Florencia Lozano‘s Tea Delgado is given the honor of saying the first curse word in the newly released “First Day of School” behind the scenes video by The OnLine Network, set to music by Raphael Lake/Ben Fisher with their song “Light It Up,” which was recently uploaded as an iTunes exclusive. In character, Lozano yells at Robert Gorrie‘s Matthew Buchanan on why he let her daughter do…
On April 14, 2011, ABC sent shockwaves throughout the daytime industry when it announced it had decided to cancel both “All My Children” and “One Life to Live” after 41 and 43 years on the air, respectively. Now two years to the day since that announcement, both soaps are in the process of not only returning to television but also to the world wide web courtesy of Prospect Park’s The OnLine Network. With just two weeks to go before launch, we hope you’re ready for a new kind of soap and a new way to watch soaps.
UPDATE 4/7/13: While it is the same duration in length, TOLN has released a revised version of the “One Life to Live” recap video. The revised video removes usage of Little Richard singing and playing the piano during Bo and Nora’s 1995 wedding. To accomodate, fans are able to see an additional second or two of the wedding as the duo walks up the aisle.
PREVIOUS 4/4/13: For more than 43 years ABC’s “One Life to Live” entertained millions of viewers each and every weekday, week after week, year after year. Sadly, the network canceled the soap in 2011 and the series aired its then final episode in January 2012. Now, in anticipation of its return on Hulu, Hulu Plus and iTunes on Monday, April 29, The OnLine Network has released a recap of the series as hosted by Erika Slezak (Victoria Lord Buchanan).
Nearly 8 minutes in length, Slezak covers the trials and tribulations faced by the youth of Llanview, including the birth of Destiny Evans and Matthew Buchanan’s (previously played by Shenell Edmonds and Eddie Alderson) child, The Tale of Todd, Blair and Tea (Roger Howarth, Kassie DePaiva and Florencia Lozano) and the whole Manning clan – including Victor Lord, Jr. (Trevor St. John)!
Soap Opera Network has learned exclusively that “One Life to Live’s” Kassie DePaiva (Blair Manning) took to song yesterday during scenes filmed on the Stamford, CT set of the drama series as cast members were left in awe of the power in her voice. DePaiva sang her hit single, “No Regrets,” from her 2004 CD of the same name.
In the emotional scene, Blair takes to song in her new nightclub, Shelter, after things hit a snag for the new establishment. Todd Manning (Roger Howarth) insists Blair entertain the crowd until things can be returned to normal. “No Regrets” features lyrics that are a subtle hint to Todd that Blair’s not over him.
