On Sunday, June 16, during “The 40th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards,” Chandler Massey took home his second Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series.

With the 40th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards slated to happen today (Sunday, June 16), the entire daytime industry has been abuzz with excitement and preparation. Friday’s Creative Arts Emmys kicked off the weekend-long celebration, and some of soap operas biggest stars came out to support the behind-the-scenes teams responsible for bringing “The Bold and the Beautiful,” “Days of our Lives,” “General Hospital,” “One Life to Live” and “The Young and the Restless” to life! Since the news broke that former “All My Children” star Chrishell Stause (ex-Amanda Dillon) had joined “Days of our Lives,” information about her new gig has been sparse. Until now! Soap Opera Network recently chatted with the actress, and she was able to reveal a few new details regarding her latest alter ego!

The Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards weekend kicked off on Friday, June 14 with the annual Creative Arts Emmy Awards. CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “The Young and the Restless” are currently leading the way with five wins each, followed by “Days of our Lives” with two and “General Hospital” and “One Life to Live” tied with one each, ironically in the same category.

As we previously reported, HLN, the network hosting the the 40th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy awards, is shaking up the beloved broadcast by interviewing the winners of the top seven categories on stage immediately following their acceptance speeches! On the heels of the announcement, Soap Opera Network hit the red carpet for the Television Academy hosted Daytime Emmy Awards Nominee Reception to get a few of the stars’ takes on celebrities Giada De Laurentiis, Sheryl Underwood, Julie Chen, Sam Champion and A.J. The web series “Tainted Dreams” already has a long list of soap star talent, and now one more has been added to the roster: “Guiding Light” alum Grant Aleksander (ex-Phillip Spaulding)! The Maryland native, who also played “All My Children’s” Alec McIntyre, has signed on to play Adam Clark, the executive producer of “Painted Dreams,” the fictional show within the series.

Crystal Chappell (Gina Brogno, “Venice;” ex-Carly Manning, “Days of our Lives;” ex-Olivia Spencer, “Guiding Light”) stars as Jane in Steve Silverman’s Alfred Hitchcock-inspired series, “The Inn,” which premiered with its new season on Monday, June 3. Soap Opera Network recently had the opportunity to chat with Chappell to discuss her work on the series as well has her numerous contributions to the web series world, including “Venice” and “The Grove: The Series.” Before we post the interview, we wanted to make sure viewers got a chance to catch up on “The Inn.”

There was a time not that long ago when “All My Children’s” Chrishell Stause (ex-Amanda Dillon) — who’s been confirmed as a future cast member on “Days of our Lives” — seemed on top of the world. She and her boyfriend, “Glee” star Matthew Morrison, were as happy as could be and even announced their engagement in 2007. But shortly after the joyous news came out, the pair split. Fans have wondered how a relationship that was seemingly so wonderful could take such a drastic turn for the worse, and now Morrison himself is setting the record straight!

“Days of our Lives” stars Chandler Massey (Will Horton) and Casey Deidrick (Chad diMera) are on a mission: They’re hoping that through music with their band, The Last of Us, they can help raise awareness about cystic fibrosis.

NBC’s only daytime drama, “Days of our Lives,” has started the summer off with a bang: For the week of May 27 through May 31, the sudser was able to draw in its biggest women 18-49 viewership in 18 months and its largest overall audience in more than two years!

Fran Bascom, who had been nominated nine times for her work as a casting director at NBC’s “Days of our Lives” by the Casting Society of America, has died. After reportedly feeling under the weather late Sunday, June 2, Bascom was taken to Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, CA, where she died. A cause of death is not known at this time.

Ratings Report for the Week of May 20-24, 2013

“Days of our Lives” has equaled its biggest women 18-49 audience in 18 months and set an 11-week high in total viewers, according to “live plus same day” viewing figures for the week of May 20-24 from Nielsen Media Research.

Heartthrob Trevor Donovan (ex-Jeremy Horton, “Days of our Lives”) is a man of many talents: He skis, snowboards, sings, plays the guitar and has a bachelor’s degree in graphic arts. But of his many abilities, acting takes the cake — and it’s something he’s been on a roll doing since he left “DAYS” six years ago. The California native has starred in projects like “90210,” “Savages,” and “The Client List,” and now he’ll add ABC Family’s “Melissa & Joey” to his resume.

Monday, May 27 is memorial day and while CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and the Beautiful” will air original episodes (which aren’t expected to count in the weekly Nielsen ratings), NBC’s “Days of our Lives” will be preempted for coverage of the French Open, while ABC’s “General Hospital” will air the real 50th Anniversary episode, which actually aired on Tuesday, April 2 after a March preemption pushed scheduling back a day (“GH” premiered on April 1, 1963). “All My Children” will air an original episode as the series is available exclusively on the internet and doesn’t abide by holiday preemptions.

Memorial Day weekend is the perfect time for barbeques, catching up with friends and working on that (long overdue) tan, but being soap fans and all, it’s only natural to squeeze in a little soap-worthy entertainment, as well. Luckily, Lifetime Movie Network knows this and chose tonight to premiere ‘The Perfect Boss,’ an original movie staring both Jamie Luner (ex-Liza Colby, “All My Children”) and Linden Ashby (ex-Paul Hollingsworth, “Days of our Lives,” ex- Cameron Kirsten, “The Young and the Restless”)!
