Taylor Spreitler may be known to many fans as Lennox on ABC Family’s “Melissa & Joey,” but soap fans know her best as “Days of our Lives’” Mia McCormick, a role which she played from 2009 to 2010. But whether you love her for her comedy gig or her former soap gig, she’s open to any and all questions you can fire her way!

After rumors began to spread over the last few weeks that Peter Reckell would be heading to Port Charles after not being able to come to a deal with Corday Productions that would have brought him back to Salem as Bo Brady on NBC’s “Days of our Lives,” the actor himself has taken to social media to set the record straight.

Shortly after winning his second consecutive Daytime Emmy award for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series last month, “Days of our Lives” star, Chandler Massey, announced plans to depart the NBC Daytime drama series after portraying the role of Will Horton for the past four years. The actor stated he wants to go back to school and he wouldn’t be able to do that while under contract with the soap.

“Tainted Dreams,” the soap within a soap, has announced that former “All My Children” and “Edge of Night” actor Larkin Malloy has joined its cast in the role of Henry Steinman, a director of the fictional soap “Painted Dreams.”

While the soap opera Twitter world was abuzz yesterday over the drama between “Days of our Lives’” Jen Lilley (Theresa Donovan) and “General Hospital’s” Kirsten Storms (Maxie Jones), “GH” actress Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) was up to some social media shenanigans of her own!

The onscreen comings and goings in the soap opera industry are enough to make anyone’s head spin, and the behind the scenes business is just as action packed! In fact, three soap stars have recently made bold moves by switching agencies.

According to NBC, “Days of our Lives” is up by more than 30% year-to-year in the key sales demos of Women 18-49 (+30%), Women 25-54 (+34%) and Women 18-34 (+42%). The soap is also up 14% year-to-year in total viewers with the soap averaging 2.7 million viewers last week compared to 2.3 million during the same week last year. For the just completed second quarter, “DAYS” ranked 5th among ABC, CBS and NBC in the women 18-49 demo (1.0 ratings, 7 share) and tied for 4th place in women 18-34 (0.7 rating).

For weeks “Days of our Lives” fans have been asking that question after actor Drake Hogestyn (John Black) tweeted he last taped an episode of the NBC Daytime drama series on March 18 (scheduled to air Wednesday, July 17). In his tweet he said, “Given a chance off the bench, I’m sure I could hit a homer for J&M. #putmeincoach.” Fans were given some hope when Soap Opera Digest reported in its June 24 issue that the actor “has reported back to work after a brief hiatus from the show.” The report was found under the “Stuff We Know (and shouldn’t tell you)” section. Sadly, the mag didn’t actually know as Digest semi-retracted its reporting per the Tuesday, July 9 issue citing comments from Hogestyn’s daughter, Alex, who took to Facebook to say that her father was not filming again. “[The] report is not true. My dad has not been back filming, I wish he was though!”

Earlier today SOAPnet posted a new promo featuring intriguing moments and mystery on “Days of our Lives” (‘Everyone’s Dark Side Will Be Exposed in the Light of DAYS’) and now the network has published the “General Hospital” equivalent.

Hot on the heels of the Supreme Court’s decision to rule that married same-sex couples are entitled to Federal benefits and that same-sex marriages are now legal in California, “The Young and the Restless’” Greg Rikaart (Kevin Fisher) sent out a tweet and photo to fans that officially confirms he’s gay.

In a posting last week on its Facebook page, shortly after word that the Supreme Court of the United States had found the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) unconstitutional, the NOH8 campaign displayed a photo compilation of “Days of our Lives” cast members posing in support of the charitable organization whose mission is “to promote marriage, gender and human equality through education, advocacy, social media, and visual protest.” The photo included actors Blake Berris, Eileen Davidson, Greg Vaughan, Kristian Alfonso, Bill Hayes, Lauren Koslow, Deidre Hall, Suzanne Rogers, Freddie Smith, Joseph Mascolo, Nathan Owens, Kate Mansi and Galen Gering, among others.
