Warner Bros. Animation is developing a new TV series adaptation of “Dark Shadows,” based on the classic gothic soap opera and the father of the modern-day vampire, Barnabas Collins.

As previously reported, NBC’s “Days of our Lives” began searching for a “legitimate” native Australian actor to portray the new 13-week minimum contract role of Finn, a doctor doing his residency in Salem, specifically looking to gain skills as a surgeon, under the guidance of Dr. Daniel Jonas (Shawn Christian). In partnership with Australia’s Arena TV, a division of Foxtel, the daytime drama series announced today that it has narrowed its search down to three finalists: Sydney actor Alexander Bruszt, Sydney actor/musician Andrew Steel and Gold Coast actor Tom Dalzell, who is already Los Angeles based.

With a cryptic message written on a piece of paper gripped tight within her dead cold hands, Courtney Sloan (Kelli Goss) ended her lively run on CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” on Monday, April 6 as close friends, and those that loved her, mourned their loss. Courtney’s murder was just another in a growing line of deadly twists in the Abbott cabin crew storyline. As fiancé Noah Newman (Robert Adamson) tried everything in his power to resuscitate her, the young man was forced to come to grips with the reality that his happy path to wedded bliss had been derailed.

In the first major casting announcement under new head writers Dena Higley and Josh Griffith, who replaced Christopher Whitesell and Gary Tomlin last month, “Days of our Lives” is seeking to cast a legitimate Australian actor for the contract role of Finn, a “ruggedly handsome” Australian doctor who is doing his residency in Salem and will work under the stewardship of Doctor Daniel Jonas (Shawn Christian), reports the Australian Associated Press and TV Tonight.

ABC’s “General Hospital” is adding “All My Children” alum Rebecca Budig (ex-Greenlee Smythe) to its all-star cast, it was announced yesterday by executive producer Frank Valentini, following an ongoing Twitter conversation with head writer Ron Carlivati, in response to Valentini’s promise of a major casting announcement. “Hey @RebeccaBudig wanna join the cast of GH in a new Killer Role??” tweeted Valentini, after saying “okay okay” to head writer Ron Carlivati.

ABC has confirmed that it will be recasting the contract role of Kiki Jerome on “General Hospital” with “The Young and the Restless” alum Hayley Erin (ex-Abby Newman). She is set to first air sometime in late February. Kristen Alderson, who originated the role, opted to leave when her contract was up earlier this month. She last airs in early February.

“The Young and the Restless” has cast “Home and Away” alum Lachlan Buchanan in the contract role of Kyle Jenkins, the son of Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Diane Jenkins (last played by “General Hospital’s” Maura West). The actor will report to work at the CBS Television City studio, where “Y&R” is filmed, beginning Tuesday, January 27. His first airdate is set for Wednesday, February 25.

After taking a short break to film the “Untitled Miami Project” pilot for TNT, “The Young and the Restless” will once again welcome back Aly Lind as Faith Newman during the week of January 26, Soap Opera Network has learned.
