‘Y&R’s’ Melissa Claire Egan Engaged!

With just 10 days to go before it goes dark for good, one piece of several puzzles surrounding the end of SOAPnet was where some of the shows currently airing on the cable network would land once it said goodbye. In a press release, Pivot announced earlier this week that it has landed the rebroadcast airing rights to “Veronica Mars,” which joined the SOAPnet lineup in March 2012. In announcing its agreement with Warner Bros. Television, producers of the series, the network also announced that it has picked up rerun rights to “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” which starred former “All My Children” actress Sarah Michelle Gellar (ex-Kendall Hart), as well. “Mars” starred Kristen Bell in the title role.

Event planner David Tutera is known for his extraordinary, jaw-dropping parties and weddings for the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Matthew McConaughey, Elton John and “All My Children” star Susan Lucci (ex-Erica Kane), and now he’s headed to bring one lucky couple from “The Young and the Restless’” Genoa City his help in creating a magical, dream wedding!

“All My Children’s” Eden Riegel (ex-Bianca Montgomery) and husband Andrew Miller welcomed the newest addition to the family early this morning. The actress, who tweeted a picture from her hospital bed, gave birth to son Henry Isaac Miller at 9:23 AM. The baby boy weighed in at 9 pounds, 1 ounce. “We did it! @FYeahJackMiller, you’re a big brother!” she said in her tweet directed to her oldest son, Jack Oscar Miller, who was born May 21, 2011.

As we previously reported, former “All My Children” actress Rebecca Budig (ex-Greenlee Smythe) will be on tonight’s episode of the drama series “Blue Bloods.”

There’s a rumor going around that former “All My Children” star Vincent Irizarry (ex-David Hayward) has been tapped to play the role of “General Hospital’s” Valentin Cassadine — a role former “AMC” star Matthew Borlenghi (ex-Brian Bodine) had been cast to play before the storyline was scrapped back in 2009. And when Borlenghi caught wind of the supposed recast, his online comments prompted “GH” headscribe, Ron Carlivati, to shed some news on the Irizarry casting rumor!

TVGN is proving why it’s now the “the new way to watch soaps.” With the network already picking up encore airing rights to “The Young and the Restless” this past summer, and “The Bold and the Beautiful” earlier this month, the network plans to provide soap fans with even more “soap” for their viewing pleasure courtesy of the new documentary, “Who Shot the Daytime Soap?” Airing Monday, December 16 at 8:00 PM ET/PT, preceded by airings of “B&B” at 6:30 PM ET/PT and “Y&R” at 7:00 PM ET/PT, the documentary tackles the history of daytime soap operas as told by those who were there during the good times, the bad times and the new times.

It looks like “All My Children” and “General Hospital” alum, Eddie Matos (ex-Ricky Torres and ex-Peter Marquez, respectively) is headed to The CW’s popular series, “Hart of Dixie,” and a big dose of romance is coming along with him!

Out of all the talent behind “All My Children” and “One Life to Live,” the one voice missing after news that neither series would be moving forward with new episodes was that of Daytime Emmy Award winning actress Erika Slezak (ex-Victoria Lord, “OLTL”). On her official website, Slezak has broken her silence via her 2013 Holiday Letter for fans. In it, Slezak says, “I loved being back at ‘OLTL’; I loved being back with all my friends on the show and we had a wonderful time although it was short lived. Still, I am very grateful for that brief opportunity to have played Viki once more.”

In an newly released interview with Soap Opera Digest columnist and Tainted Dreams blogger, Carolyn Hinsey, “The Bold and the Beautiful’s” Thorsten Kaye opens up about his role as Ridge Forrester on the CBS Daytime soap, but it’s his comments on Prospect Parks’ version of “All My Children” and “One Life to Live” that has all eyes open.

As previously reported, Tristan Rogers will soon be departing ABC’s “General Hospital” after his most recent stint as Robert Scorpio comes to an end. With his pending return to CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” in the new year, Rogers recently announced on Twitter his final film date at “GH” and his first film date back at “Y&R.”
