As we get closer to daytime’s biggest night, taking place on Sunday, May 1, the industry is abuzz today over which actors were submitted for a pre-nomination for the “The 43rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards,” presented by The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS). With at least two actors per show for each category (exception being Supporting Actress) several of daytime television’s biggest and brightest stars are looking to vie for the coveted trophy that celebrates their hard work during calendar year 2015.
After eight years of playing suave Salem surgeon Daniel Jonas, actor Shawn Christian was let go from “Days of our Lives.” In a stunning move, his character was scripted as the victim in a fatal car crash caused by a drunk Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan).
Melanie Jonas may have left Salem earlier this year just as Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) was coming to terms with dealing with his situation with Theresa Donovan (Jen Lilley), but she’s back beginning next month when actress Molly Burnett reprises her role on “Days of our Lives.”
Following behind the scenes changes in February with new head writers and the re-shuffling of producers in March, NBC’s “Days of our Lives” will soon gear up production for its 50th anniversary celebration without several of its leading younger talents. Molly Burnett (Melanie Jonas), Freddie Smith (Sonny Kiriakis) and Melissa Archer (Serena Mason) are all reportedly said to be departing the daytime drama series in the weeks and months ahead, at least onscreen.
On Friday, January 16, NBC’s “Days of our Lives” will welcome actor Lucas Kerr to its cast as Clint, Theresa’s (Jen Lilley) new love interest.
Since stepping into Salem earlier this September, “Days of our Lives’” Chad has been trying to prove that he’s now a force to be reckoned with. And as viewers have slowly but surely seen, he’s well on his way to living up to the last name he shares with dad Stefano (Joseph Mascolo) and brother EJ (James Scott).
The moment “Days of our Lives” fans have been waiting for is finally happening: Molly Burnett is returning as Melanie Jonas today, November 21! But what exactly brings Melanie back to the canvas? And how long does Burnett plan on sticking around in Salem? Soap Opera Network spoke with the actress to find out!
Now that the news is out that Molly Burnett will soon be returning as “Days or Our Lives’” Melanie, daughter of Daniel (Shawn Christian), it’s safe to assume that Papa Jonas’ life is about to get more colorful than ever! And it’s a challenge the actor welcomes with open arms.
“Days of our Lives” doesn’t have to roll out its own red carpet for its upcoming 50th anniversary — the Hollywood Christmas Parade is doing it, instead! The grand holiday event will be honoring the long-running NBC soap opera with a special commemoration on Sunday, November 30!
While it’s been the worst kept secret in daytime, Soap Opera Network can finally report that actress Molly Burnett is returning to NBC’s “Days of our Lives” in the contract role of Melanie Jonas, a role in which she originated in 2008. Burnett, who left the soap in 2012 in order to pursue outside projects, returns to Salem as her character harbors a secret that even daddy Jonas (Shawn Christian) isn’t aware of!
“Days of our Lives” star Freddie Smith (Sonny Kiriakis) was taken to the hospital earlier this morning after the star reportedly lost control of his car in Kingsville Township, Ohio. His passenger, Alyssa Tabit of North Hollywood, was seriously injured in the crash and is in critical condition, says Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Congratulations are in order for “The Bold and the Beautiful’s” Darin Brooks (Wyatt Fuller), who has announced that he’s officially engaged to former “The Young and the Restless” star Kelly Kruger (ex-Mackenzie Browning)!
The Great White North is currently experiencing quite a “dramatic” invasion: Several stars from NBC’s “Days of our Lives” have crashed into Canada for an exciting promotional tour!
Deep down in the basement of NBC’s The Burbank Studios in Los Angeles, beneath the busy and hectic world of “Days of our Lives’” Salem, lies a cozy dressing room that offers a warm and comfortable respite from cameras, producers, directors, publicists, wardrobe and all of the other distractions of a daytime television set. The lighting is low, candles flicker, and there’s a plush, body hugging beanbag that just begs any visitor to sit back, sink in and possibly take one of the best naps of all time. We at Soap Opera Network could have fallen into the beckoning trap, but the dressing room’s owner, Shawn Christian (Daniel Jonas), was way too excited to discuss his current storyline and his new television project, “Addicts Anonymous,” to allow any snoozing to happen. And as soon as the passionate actor launched into conversation, there was no desire for napping on our part, either! Read on for the exciting details Christian shared. But be warned: You’ll be on the edge of your seats (or, if you’re lucky, your beanbags).
As noted in our recent interview with Greg Meng, co-executive producer, “Days of our Lives,” the NBC Daytime soap opera is releasing “Days of our Lives Better Living: Cast Secrets for a Healthier, Balanced Life,” a new book that delves into five better living topics – nutrition, exercise, style, inspiration and balance.
“Days of our Lives” Freddie Smith (Sonny Kiriakis) and Shawn Christian (Daniel Jonas) have a lot to celebrate: In addition to surpassing their Kickstarter page donation goal for their new project, “Addicts Anonymous,” a new star has joined the cast: “Full House” alum, Lori Loughlin!
