Here’s Why Victor Newman Was Trending on Twitter

The term "Victor Newman" was trending on Twitter during the early hours of Saturday, August 28, and you won't believe why. Seriously, we dare you to find out!

Late last night when Twitter user @chris_notcapn tweeted, “If you’re a millennial and know who this white man is, you spent a lot of time with your grandmother as a child,” he probably didn’t realize he was about to set off a firestorm of love and appreciation for Victor Newman, the tycoon from Genoa City as shown daily on “The Young and the Restless” for more than 40 years.

The face of “this white man” was none other than Daytime Emmy Award winner Eric Braeden, who some responders said, “You don’t have to be a millennial to know who Victor Newman is. Matter of Fact, Victor Newman was around *Long* before millennials. My grandma & I use to watch him every week day.” Another tweeter said, “Victor who? That’s professor Charles Forbin, working on a super computer nicknamed Colossus for the US department of defense,” referring to Braeden’s work as Dr. Charles Forbin in the 1970 film “Colossus: The Forbin Project.” Yet another tweeter said, “Y’all can not have Victor Newman trending this late at night for no damn reason” as it’s become the norm for random trending topics to give a scare to users worried about the status of their favorite celebrities.

Thankfully, Braeden isn’t going anywhere as you can see below from his Thursday, August 26 tweet where he said, “That’s why I’m not considering retirement!” in reference to an older gentleman struggling to get out of a brand new Ferrari he bought after retiring.

Trending as high as number eight among all Twitter trends, behind the likes of  “Jackboy,” “PokemonTCG25,” “Candyman” and “Eric Clapton,” among others, “Victor Newman” trended under the topics “Soaps” and “Movies & TV.”
