Recapping ‘Day of Days’, Plus How You Can Be Part of the 55th Anniversary ‘Days of our Lives’ Cast Photo

Hey, "Days of our Lives" fans. Let's catch you up on all the things you might have missed during the first-ever #DayofDays2020 virtual fan event. The games, the history, the interactions, and much more.

On Saturday, November 21, “Days of our Lives” pulled off something no other TV show or production has been able to accomplish during these unprecedented times: the daytime drama series held the first-ever “at home” fan extravaganza that included multiple morning, afternoon and evening events that brought the cast closer than ever to their hardcore fans across the globe.

The event included Q&A panel sessions, quizzes and trivia challenges, a virtual behind-the-scenes set tour with an exclusive look at Salem in 2020, working out with Camila Banus (Gabi Hernandez), a look back at 55 years of “DAYS” weddings, watercolor painting with Deidre Hall (Marlena Evans), a look back at the relationship of Doug and Julie Williams (Bill Hayes and Susan Seaforth Hayes), a look back at 55 years of knockout brawls, cooking with Mary Beth Evans (Kayla Brady), and much, much more.

In addition to all the fun videos and features, one fantastic portion of the #DayofDays2020 event is the ability to add yourself to the “DAYS” commemorative photo. This once in a lifetime opportunity gives you the chance to be part of the current cast photo that features the show’s 40 cast members (and is too big to show on screen).

In case you missed out on all the fun, the “Day of Days at Home” fan event will be available to view exclusively on dayofdays2020.com through Tuesday, November 24, so time is running out.

Q&A Panels

With 12 “burning questions” sessions, cast members were broken into groups made up of on-screen pairings, long-time friends, real-life spouses, and other on-screen family connections. In the panel featuring Stephen Nichols (Steve “Patch” Johnson) and Mary Beth Evans, the two agree that the most recent wedding of their characters was their favorite of the three times they tied the knot on-screen. “We had a little bit of freedom with our vows, and you [Evans speaking to Nichols] wrote such beautiful things to me which really got to me,” says a cheery Evans of the couple’s 2017 nuptials. “And, we both love kids, and to have both our Stephanie and our Joey there, and friends… it was intimate. I love that wedding,” declared Evans. Nichols, meanwhile, said, “The one on the boat [first wedding] was special and beautiful… but I have to say that my favorite wedding is the same one you mentioned.” He added, “We had been together all these years, we had such rich history together, and I think that’s the key. When you have that many years with someone then you have a lot more depth, then you have more to say to each other. You have more of a bond. It makes for a better wedding.” Additional Q&A panels included one with Lucas Adams (Tripp Dalton), Lindsay Arnold (Allie Horton) and Bryan Dattilo (Lucas Horton); Billy Flynn (Chad DiMera) and Marci Miller (Abigail Deveraux); Lamon Archey (Eli Grant); Sal Stowers (Lani Price), James Reynolds (Abe Carver); Linsey Godfrey (Sarah Horton); Paul Telfer (Xander Kiriakis); Jay Kenneth Johnson (Philip Kiriakis), Nadia Bjorlin (Chloe Lane), Martha Madison (Belle Black) and Brandon Beemer (Shawn Brady); Wally Kurth (Justin Kiriakis), Judi Evans (Bonnie Lockhart), Lauren Koslow (Kate Roberts) and Josh Taylor (Roman Brady); Camila Banus and Brandon Barash (Jake); Deidre Hall and Drake Hogestyn (John Black); Bill and Susan Seaforth Hayes, alongside executive producer Ken Corday and Suzanne Rogers (Maggie Horton); Robert Scott Wilson and Victoria Konefal (Ciara Brady); and Galen Gering (Rafe Hernandez), Arianne Zucker (Nicole Walker), Stacy Haiduk (Kristen DiMera) and Eric Martsolf (Brady Black).

Which Salem Family They Belong To

Utilizing video conferencing software, Bjorlin, Wilson, Stowers and Telfer came together virtually for a game of which Salem family they would belong to based on questions they were asked. Seeing the cast members intermixed with those they wouldn’t normally interact with was a welcome change. As for how their answers connected to which family they belonged to, fortunately, or unfortunately for Stowers, the writers placed her in the right family — The Carver Family. The actress kinda was hoping to be a Kiriakis or a DiMera. Meanwhile, Telfer guessed he’d probably be a DiMera and he guessed right! As for Wilson, he also thought he’d make it in the DiMera clan since being a Brady would make things kinda weird, if you know what we mean. He also guessed right. Bjorlin hosted the game so we’ll never know which family she’d best fit into.

Ultimate Trivia Quiz

Similarly, Gering, Koslow, Godfrey and Matthew Ashford (Jack Deveraux) came together virtually for a game of ultimate trivia where they answered some burning questions relating to “DAYS” history. Koslow ended up winning the game with a total of eight points, followed by Ashford and Godfrey tied for second place with five points each. The final question was, “Which of these characters has NOT been brainwashed?” The answer? Sonny Kiriakis. The other three options — Chad, Hope and Steve — were brainwashed at some point. The game was hosted by Gering.

A Day in the Life of Newest Cast “DAYS” Members

Lindsay Arnold, Emily O’Brien (Gwen Rizczech), Cady McClain (Jennifer Horton) and Isabel Durant (Claire Brady) are the newbies in town. Although three of them are playing veteran characters, with only O’Brien playing an original character, the show felt it would be cool to bring fans in on how the four go about their typical day working at the “DAYS” set. We also learn some tricks to the trade. For instance, did you know that Durant is Australian and has to insert an American accent in order to play Claire? Bluntly, Durant notes that Americans “talk very different” as she explains the process she follows to transition her speech. “So, I have to figure out how to warm up my mouth in a different way and one of the tongue twisters that I do is ‘the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog’ and then you have to do it with your tongue out,” Durant shares.

Behind the Scenes Tour

Martsolf and Zucker took fans for a special behind the scenes tour of Salem, USA via Studios 2 and 4 at the Burbank Studios in which the soap operas is filmed. From a look at that most over-utilized bedroom set of all the soaps to the Salem PD precinct to Horton Square, fans get to see the sets of “DAYS” where all the drama unfolds. While not as big as they might appear on TV, some sets can be interchangeable. Did you know that Lana and Eli’s apartment is also the offices of Basic Black? It’s also revealed that the code to hidden the safe in the Kiriakis mansion is 7-6-27-40, although unlikely to be accurate considering combination locks are generally three digits long. But who cares? Zucker was right when she shared the numbers with Martsolf as the lock opened up revealing absolutely nothing in the safe.

Look Ahead Promo

The annual look ahead promo was released, highlighting several upcoming storylines taking center stage this holiday season. Several returning cast members are featured including previously unknown cast returns such as James Lastovic as Joey Johnson (see story) and Chandler Massey as Will Horton (see story).
