As we previously reported, HLN, the network hosting the the 40th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy awards, is shaking up the beloved broadcast by interviewing the winners of the top seven categories on stage immediately following their acceptance speeches! On the heels of the announcement, Soap Opera Network hit the red carpet for the Television Academy hosted Daytime Emmy Awards Nominee Reception to get a few of the stars’ takes on celebrities Giada De Laurentiis, Sheryl Underwood, Julie Chen, Sam Champion and A.J. Hammer asking the night’s biggest winners a variety of questions on air. Read on to find out whether the idea is loved — or hated!

It’s been 31 years since “The Young and the Restless’” Kate Linder first donned a black and white outfit and debuted as Esther, the maid of Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper). And even though the character has had a number of her own storylines, she will forever and always be tied to the great dame who first brought her to the screen. Soap Opera Network recently spoke with Linder to discuss Esther’s future sans Katherine and sans Cooper.

The Wednesday, June 12 episode of “All My Children” featured a hot and somewhat controversial sex scene between Pete Cortlandt (Robert Scott Wilson) and Colby Chandler (Brooke Newton) that was so steamy that it violated YouTube’s Terms of Service. TOLNSoaps, the official YouTube page for The OnLine Network, uploaded the scene to their page only to find the message “This video has been removed because its content violated YouTube’s Terms of Service.” Viewers were advised to click on the YouTube TOS page to learn more.

Fans have been chomping at the bit for more information regarding “The Young and the Restless’” Rose, the mystery woman that Leslie (Angell Conwell) and Tyler’s (Redaric Williams) dad, Gus (Tony Todd), has been dating. Well good news: One more piece of the puzzle has been revealed!

Soap opera fans have seen the revival of “Dallas,” “All My Children,” and “One Life to Live, and now the former primetime soap “Dynasty” is getting a second chance at life too — albeit in a very different way! With the recent surge of 80s-style clothing and accessories hitting the market, CBS has decided to launch a “Dynasty” jewelry collection completely inspired by the classic soap!

“The Young and the Restless’” Cane Ashby (Daniel Goddard) and Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) have been through so many ups and downs in their relationship, it’s a wonder nobody in Genoa City has installed a rollercoaster in the couple’s honor. This marks the eighth consecutive year that the sudser has won the prestigious award, which is determined by the sum of ratings across five continents and 65 countries as measured by Médiamétrie and Eurodata TV Worldwide.

We’re certainly hoping that the 40th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards will feature tons of soap opera related content, but we don’t want to forget about all of the other daytime programming set to shine during the big night! HLN, the network hosting the 40th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards, announced today that the format of the beloved awards celebration is about to be made over: For the first time in the ceremony’s history, the winners of the top seven categories will be interviewed on stage immediately following their acceptance speeches!

“As the World Turns’” alums Scott DeFreitas (ex-Andy Dixon) and Maura West (ex-Carly Tenney; Ava Jerome, “General Hospital;” ex-Diane Jenkins, “The Young and the Restless”) have been in the spotlight for years, and their son, Joe West, seems to be following in his parent’s footsteps!

The web series “Tainted Dreams” already has a long list of soap star talent, and now one more has been added to the roster: “Guiding Light” alum Grant Aleksander (ex-Phillip Spaulding)! The Maryland native, who also played “All My Children’s” Alec McIntyre, has signed on to play Adam Clark, the executive producer of “Painted Dreams,” the fictional show within the series.

As if work life wasn’t already busy enough for daytime veteran Roger Howarth (Franco, “General Hospital,” Todd Manning, “One Life to Live”), the fan favorite actor is heading to primetime! According to a Showtime representative, the New York native has signed on for a two episode arc on the networks comedic series, “Californication.”

Been missing seeing the wonderful Susan Lucci (ex-Erica Kane, “All My Children”) onscreen? Well fret not, pretty soap fans. The legendary lady has taken to the cameras and revealed a few teases about her upcoming series, “Devious Maids,” which premieres on Lifetime Sunday, June 23. What’s more, she further discusses a possible return to the soap that made her famous!

Crystal Chappell (Gina Brogno, “Venice;” ex-Carly Manning, “Days of our Lives;” ex-Olivia Spencer, “Guiding Light”) stars as Jane in Steve Silverman’s Alfred Hitchcock-inspired series, “The Inn,” which premiered with its new season on Monday, June 3. Soap Opera Network recently had the opportunity to chat with Chappell to discuss her work on the series as well has her numerous contributions to the web series world, including “Venice” and “The Grove: The Series.” Before we post the interview, we wanted to make sure viewers got a chance to catch up on “The Inn.”
