(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — “One Life to Live” casts a new recurring role and welcomes back a few familiar faces.

Daytime newcomer Kearra Giovanni has been cast in the role of Dr. Wright, who will confer with the recently arrived medical whiz Greg Evans (Terrell Tilford) on Matthew’s case.  Look for her to also to spend time with Dr. Evans on a more personal level as well when he takes her out on the town, must to the dismay of his lil’ sis Destiny (Shenell Edmonds).

The announement comes more than a month following the release of an audition script for the role. Ginovanni will first air as Dr. Wright on Tuesday, June 30th, one week after the arrival of Terrell Tilford as Dr. Greg Evans.

In other news…

What’s in a name?  Apparently not much.  SOAPnet.com is reporting that “OLTL” has changed the name of former “Gossip Girl” Amanda Setton‘s new character from ‘Summer’ to ‘Kimberly Andrews.’  It seems that, much like her best bud Stacy Morasco, Kimberly will be a stripper and will also interact with Gigi and Rex following her August debut.  Interesting.

Can’t get enough of Moe and Noelle Stubbs (John Rue and January LaVoy)?  Well, you’re in luck.  Moe (and perhaps his blushing bride as well) will pop up once again on Tuesday, June 30th and Thursday, July 2nd.

Pamela Payton-Wright returns as the adorable Addie Cramer on Wednesday, July 2nd when daugther Blair confides in her how she really feels about Todd and Téa’s stormy relationship.

Julia Murney reprises her recurring role of Boutet Clinic Nurse Gayle Collins beginning Monday, June 29th, when she has a memorable run-in with Roxy Balsom, and later pays a visit to a certain Llanview resident in order to deliver an unusual present from her new boss.

Patrick Allen Cole, who occassionaly pops up as Rodi’s Manager Jeff, recently posted on his website that he is “once again recurring his role of Jeff @ Rodi’s Bar on ABC’s ‘One Life To Live.’ Will keep you posted on the air date.”  Fans may remember that Jeff was the one who found a druken Charlie last year, and used his phone to call Viki to come and pick him up.  More recently, he shared scenes Gigi while she was on the clock waiting tables at the popular hangout.

Is she in or is she out?  The back and forth appears to be continuing between Gina Tognoni and “One Life to Live.”  The latest rumors claim that recent reports that she was demanding an outragous sum of money from the ABC soap were exaggerated and that she is still negotiating with the sudser on the terms of a new contract.  SON will keep you posted on any developments.

TVGuide Canada speculates that the recently released casting call for ‘Griffin,’ who is supposed to come between Oliver Fish and Kyle Lewis as they attempt to rekindle their past romance, may actually be a decoy for the recasting of Tina and Cord Roberts’ son CJ.  Even though the timing seems off, considering his mom and sister Sarah have already left town, the character still has many ties to the canvas (most notably Aunt Viki and Uncle Todd). For now, however, this remains only speculation.

Soap Opera Digest reports that, when new lawyer Elijah Clarke (Matt Walton) arrives in town on August 6th, he will do more than simply share scenes with Téa.  In addition, look for Mr. Clarke to also become involved with the Buchanan clan.  They also report that when Lionel Richie serenades Llanview next month, he will be in scenes with Todd and Téa.

And who can resist pictures of a beautiful baby…let alone three?  Check out some of the cute pictures of Mady, Molly, and Tess Sullivan, the beyond cute triplets who portray baby Hope.  Is there anythimg more precious?

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — As the mystery of Téa Delgado’s mysterious secret begins to unravel, “One Life to Live” works to recast a familiar face from her past.

Back in 2002, Todd Manning’s dasterdly plan to steal his children away from ex-wife Blair hit a snag when he, Téa, and Ross Rayburn, one of the goons Todd had hired to assist in the kidnapping, finds themselves shipwrecked on a deserted island.  In the weeks and months that followed, a twisted long triangle developed between the three castaways.

After witnessing a kiss between Téa and Ross, Todd is determined to get off the island anyway he can.  As he is about to depart however, he is confronted by Téa, who declares her love for him.  After the couple make love for the first time, Téa discovers a picture of Blair in Todd’s wallet.  Realizing he still carries a torch for his old flame, she painfully urges him to reunite with his family.  After making a homemade raft, Todd paddles himself out to sea, where he eventually washes ashore on the U.S. island territory of Guam.  Some time later, both Téa and Ross are rescued from the island.

Viewers were left to speculate as to what exactly happened to Téa in the six years between her island adventure and her return to Llanview last December.  Fans were futher intrigued by the revealtion that the character harbors a deep, dark secret.  Now it appears that the truth may soon be revealed.

Last week “OLTL” issued a casting call for the role of Ross, which was originally portrayed by Shawn Christian (Daniel Jonas, “Days of Our Lives”).  With Christian (right), spending his ‘Days’ in Salem, the soap is looking to recast the role.  Although some of the names and character traits have been changed in the audition script to try to throw people off, it is clear that Blair has tracked Ross down and that the two of them are talking about Todd,Téa, and John.

The scene opens with ‘Ross Raymond (aka Rayburn)’ asking ‘Millie Durgan’ if she is in need of assistance, and quickly recognizing her identity.  Millie informs him that she remembers that he is the scum who helped ‘Rick’ kidnap her kid several years ago.  When he attempts to assure her that he was just following orders, she erupts in anger.  Trying to calm her down, he reminds her the plan was a failure, it was a long time ago, and that she should enjoy her visit to Tahiti.  Still angry, Millie gives him the cold shoulder.

Ross tells her that’s he sorry, to which Millie tells him that he can keep his sympathy.  She goes on to say that she is actually there to dig up some dirt on ‘Amanda Taylor,’ whom Ross claims he hasn’t seen since they rescued from the island.  Millie fires back by telling him that she had heard that he had a woman living with him last year.  Ross shrugs off her accusations by saying that he is a lady’s man, and that he has been with lots of women.

After warning him that he better be telling the truth, Millie starts to call her brother, a cop and former FBI Agent.  Taunting Ross that he would to hear the whereabouts of a fugative, he responds by claiming that the feds can’t touch him since he is on foreign soil.  After warning him that he doesn’t know what her brother is capable of, Ross asks Millie if Amanda has been talking about much much.  Millie replies that Amanda has not said one word about him, but that it is clear that something happened between her time on the island and her return to Llanview last December.

Ross asks Millie why she is so worried about Amanda.  She tells him to mind his own business and that all he should be worried about his maintaining his freedom.  As the scene draws to a close, Ross tells Amanda that she must have some serious issues with Amanda to travel half-way around the planet to get the goods on her.  Futhermore he questions Millie about what she will do once he tells her what she wants to know, and asks her what will stop her from contacting her brother anyway.

Since “OLTL” reguarly tapes about 4-6 weeks in advance, and this role is still in the casting process, it will likely be sometime later this summer before it will air.

SON will continue to follow this story, and bring you more details as they become available.

Discussion: ‘One Life’ Recasting Former Leading Man

Monday, June 15, 2009 3:34 AM ET | By Scotty Gore

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Despite earlier reports that she was ‘thisclose’ to signing a new deal with “One Life to Live” to reprise her signature role of Kelly Cramer, it now appears that Gina Tognoni won’t be returning to Llanview after all.

With the demise of “Guiding Light’ all but certain come September, speculation recently began to surface that the actress, who has portrayed Dinah Marler since 2004, might be interested in returning to her old stomping ground of Llanview.  As the rumors persisted, numerous media outlets reported that Tognoni and ABC were in negotiations.  It appeared as if a deal was nearly finalized.

All that changed late last week when TVGuide Canada’s The Suds Report broke the news that the two sides had failed to reach an agreement.  Apparently the sticking point appeared to be Tognoni’s salary, should she agree to return to “OLTL” in the role she originated in 1995.  A set-side source revealed to The Suds Report that “She asked for too much money, so ABC passed.”

Information surfaced recently that Tognoni apparently turned down offers from two west coast soaps (“The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and the Beautiful”) in order to remain in New York City with her new husband.  The Daytime Emmy winner is also reported to have turned down the role of Carly on “General Hospital” (which was originated by Sarah Brown).  That’s leaves “All My Children” and “As the World Turns” as the only potentially viable offers for Tognoni in terms of daytime soaps.  And given that she turned down “GH” and demanded too much money from “OLTL,” it would seem unlikely that ABC would be very eager to offer her a job on “AMC.”  And, as far as “ATWT” goes, its future appears rocky at best.   But, after all, this is daytime television, and stranger things have happened.

SON will continue to follow this story, and bring you more details as they become available.

Discussion: Gina Tognoni Finds She Has No New ‘Life to Live’

Monday, June 15, 2009 3:00 AM ET | By Scotty Gore

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — “One Life to Live” reminds viewers that yes, there are gay people in Llanview.

In 1992, “OLTL” broke new ground in daytime with the introduction of teen Billy Douglas (Ryan Phillippe), who was later revealed to be gay, and homophobia soon reared its ugly head in Llanview.  In 2005, Nora Hanen learned that her husband, District Attorney Daniel Colson, was leading a double life. Proving appearances can be deceiving, the mild mannered Colson seemed to be a devoted husband and father, when in reality he was involved in a homosexual affair with a trouble young man, and would stop at nothing, even murder, in order to protect his secret.

Now comes word that the ABC sudser is penning a new gay storyline, involving two characters already established on the soap’s canvas.  According to sources, fans will soon learn that Officer Oliver Fish (Scott Evans), one of Llanview’s finest men in blue, engaged in a relationship of a sexual nature with hospital lab tech Kyle Lewis (Brett Claywell) back when the two were college frat buddies at LU.  The romance may soon be rekindled, but not before a third man (as revealed in a recently released audition script for the role of ‘Griffin’) comes between them.  However that role is still in the casting process.

“One Life to Live” is not alone is featuring homosexual storylines as of late, both “As the World Turns” and “The Young and the Restless” have demonstrated that they are keeping up with reality by showcasing gay plots and characters.  And in February, “All My Children” treated viewers to daytime’s first wedding between two women.

Making the upcoming “OLTL” storyline more interesting is the fact that one half of the couple, Scott Evans (Oliver Fish) is openly gay.  Makes one wonder how the soap will explain his character’s romantic interest in new roommate Layla Williamson (Tika Sumpter), and why he was so smitten with Stacy Morasco (Crystal Hunt) following their torrid one night stand.  Just as long as Officer Fish doesn’t go around murdering the citizens of Llanview to hide his alternate lifestyle, the plot sounds promising.
