On Monday, April 1, ABC’s “General Hospital” turns 50! In honor of the event, fans have been anticipating the return of one of the shows grandest events…the Nurses Ball. While things don’t kick into high gear for the event until the Friday, April 5 episode, we at Soap Opera Network wanted to make sure you got a glimpse of some of your favorite actors before their characters start singing, dancing, and throwing punches.
When word broke that Brandon Barash would be departing ABC’s “General Hospital” after five years portraying the contract role of Johnny Zacchara on the daytime drama series, many fans began to wonder if we had already seen the last of the actor on screen as the character hadn’t appeared on the canvas in some time. The last time People Magazine offerred a collector’s edition of a soap opera was in September 2011, when the mag celebrated the life and history of the then canceled “All My Children.” This time the magazine is celebrating the continued life and history of “General Hospital” with a special 50th Anniversary collector’s edition that finds Luke and Laura Spencer (Anthony Geary and Genie Francis), Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms), Sonny Corinthos and Brenda Barrett (Maurice Benard and Vanessa Marcil), Duke Lavery and Anna Devane (Ian Buchanan and Finola Highes), and Jagger Cates (Antonio Sabato Jr.) gracing the cover.
As part of the on going promotion of “General Hospital” and its 50th anniversary season through social networking, actress Kirsten Storms (Maxie Jones) will be tweeting live with fans during today’s East Coast broadcast of the ABC drama series.
Beginning Monday, September 10 ABC’s “General Hospital” moves to a new time period (2:00 PM ET/1:00 PM PT/CT) and in celebration the network is hosting a weeklong twitter chat with cast members of the drama series.
“Happy Back to Work Day!!!! YAY!!” said Kirsten Storms (Maxie Jones) in a tweet earlier today as she prepared for her first day back on the set of ABC’s “General Hospital.” The actress also tweeted a photo of her script that was tucked away in her purse, saying “Bag packed. Off to work. #excitement.”
Actress Jen Lilley, who was given the ultimate acting challenge when she replaced Kirsten Storms in the role of Maxie Jones on ABC’s “General Hospital” in September 2011 now finds herself relinquishing the role back to Storms as the show prepares a time slot change in the coming weeks.
