On Friday, May 9, actor and rock and roller Rick Springfield (ex-Noah Drake, “General Hospital”) received one the the highest honors an entertainer could ever hope to attain: a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Joined by former “GH” co-star Jason Thompson (Patrick Drake) and “The Young and the Restless'” Doug Davidson (Paul Williams), the hour long ceremony included speeches by Hollywood Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Leron Gubler, Thompson and Davidson, before Springfield took the stage to accept his honor.

Last week when news broke that actor James Scott had completed filming his 8-year run on NBC’s “Days of our Lives” as EJ DiMera, fans couldn’t help but wonder if that meant the end of the road for the popular character, or if there were plans to recast, considering the actor himself cited “personal time” as the reason for his departure.

Most of the Daytime Emmy Award submission scenes feature extremely dramatic performances, but in the case of “The Young and the Restless’” Max Ehrich (Fenmore Baldwin), his nomination-earning material was enough to halt production of the sudser! He explains that while filming the scenes in which Fenmore was confused about whether or not he killed Carmine [Marco Dapper], he became so overwhelmed, they had to pause taping. “There were like four of five scenes, we filmed them back to back, and we had to stop a few times, because I was so emotionally wrought that I was forgetting stuff!” he says. “Fenmore has a mental break, because he’s contemplating whether he should go to confess or whether or not he should protect his father, and so it was a really intense filming process.”

Today marks one full year since the heart-wrenching death of “The Young and the Restless’” Jeanne Cooper, the much-loved and celebrated actress who played Katherine Chancellor for 40 years. During the final weeks of her life, her son, Corbin Bernsen, kept fans updated on his mother’s deteriorating status via honest and touching social media posts, and he’s once again championing the woman the daytime community misses so much — this time, with a candid interview with TV Guide.

Days of our Lives

Good news to Canadian soap opera fans: Sony Pictures Television and Shaw Media have reached an agreement that will extend the run of both “Days of our Lives” and “The Young and the Restless” on Global Television (a Shaw Media Network) through the 2015-2016 season!

“All My Children” grad Finn Wittrock (ex-Damon Miller) is on a role: Not only will he be starring in the upcoming Angelina Jolie-directed film “Unbroken” (which you can read more about here), he’s also been cast opposite Aaron Eckhart in the new film “My All American.”

Fans hoping to see Michelle Stafford make a grand return to “The Young as the Restless” as Phyllis have a bitter pill to swallow: With the actress now on contract as “General Hospital’s” Nina, it seems the CBS sudser she formerly called home has decided to move on!
