While the network originally planned to air a repeat episode, as a result of the Friday, December 19 presidential address by President Barack Obama, ABC will now air an original episode of “General Hospital” on Christmas Eve, December 24.

Ratings Report for the Week of December 8-12, 2014
On Thursday, December 25 and Thursday, January 1, CBS is handing fans of “The Young and the Restless” a wonderful Christmas and New Year’s present in the form of original episodes of the daytime drama series, the network recently announced.
On the Tuesday, December 16 edition of NBCUniversal’s syndicated daytime talker, “The Steve Harvey Show,” former “Days of our Lives” actress Alison Sweeney (ex-Sami Brady) sits down with Steve Harvey to talk about her two-decade long run on “DAYS,” her hosting duties on NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” and her novel, “Scared Scriptless.” In your first look clip, Sweeney reveals that it was hard to leave the daytime soap she called home since she was a teenager and that she’s kept in touch with her former colleagues via social media. Sweeney also revealed that she’s been back to direct several episodes of the daytime drama series since completing filming last May as Sami.

CBS and Lionsgate’s TVGN will rebrand itself in 2015 as POP, a new pop culture network for the younger generation currently tuning into the likes of Bravo and MTV, but the Walt Disney Company’s ABC Family cable network might also be in for some massive changes as well, according to a report by Variety.
CBS announced today that it has extended the contract agreement it has with Leslie Moonves, President and CEO, CBS Corporation. Moonves, who was originally scheduled to continue on in his current position through June 30, 2017, will now oversee the corporation through June 30, 2019. At that point he will become an executive advisor for an additional five years, and will have the option to establish a production company under CBS’ auspices, the company said.
As we reported yesterday, the 46th Annual NAACP Image Awards will take place on Friday, February 6. For the first time in at least 20 years, there will be no representation of daytime as the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) has removed the Outstanding Actor and Outstanding Actress in a Daytime Drama Series categories from the upcoming awards show. When we went to press yesterday, the NAACP was unable to officially comment on the matter. That has since changed.
