Classic Episodes of ‘The Young and the Restless’ Are Now Available on CBS All Access Without A Subscription

Now you can watch all of the classic re-airings of "The Young and the Restless" on CBS All Access without a subscription.

As “The Young and the Restless” continues airing classic episodes in place of originals following a production shutdown that began in March due to COVID-19 concerns, fans have been wondering why they hadn’t been able to watch a bulk of the episodes for later viewing on CBS All Access considering several markets have preempted the show for weeks in order to air news conferences by state governors or local officials. That has now changed.

“Good News! All of the ‘Y&R’ Classics that have aired so far are now available on CBS.com and CBS All Access,” the show announced in a post on Twitter yesterday. Initially, a number of classic episodes were not being uploaded to the platform with the exception of episodes aired on Fridays in tandem with the original episodes that ran out on Thursday, April 23.

No subscription is required to watch the classic episodes on CBS All Access with two exceptions. As of this writing, two episodes from season 31 of the series (OAD: July 5, 2004 and July 6, 2004) require a paid subscription. CBS re-aired the episodes on April 28, 2020 and April 29, 2020 as part of the show’s “Katherine the Great” theme week in honor of the late Jeanne Cooper‘s iconic character.

The oldest episode available for viewing is from season eight of the series. In it, Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) visits Newman Ranch for the first time as Victor (Eric Braeden) tests their chemistry with help from Colonel Douglas Austin (Michael Evans). The episode was rebroadcast on Monday, May 4 as part of the show’s “Victor & Nikki: A Lifetime of Love” theme week. The episode originally aired on October 31, 1981.
