“The Young and the Restless” is no stranger to having sports stars visit Genoa City (Seattle Seahawk Superbowl champ Michael Robinson appeared earlier this year), but the next sports/soap opera crossover the sudser is planning has a bit of a twist: Instead of an athlete appearing on the show, it’ll be an athlete’s mother!

The marquees of Broadway theaters in New York City went dark for one minute on Friday, July 18th in memory of actress Elaine Stritch (ex-Wilma Bern, “One Life to Live”), who passed away due to natural causes at the age of 89.

“The Bold and the Beautiful” has set off for locations like Paris, Abu Dhabi, Monaco and many parts of Southern California, making it quite the globe trotting soap opera. She’s gone, but she’ll never be forgotten — a statement proven true by “The Young and the Restless” regarding Jeanne Cooper (Katherine Chancellor), who passed away last year but still remains quite central to storylines playing out in Genoa City. And the soap will once again honor her memory — exactly one year after Katherine’s onscreen death — with a remembrance ceremony in Chancellor Park that includes Tricia Cast (Nina Webster) and Michael Fairman (Patrick Murphy).

“The Young and the Restless’” Christine (Lauralee Bell) boldly declared that Austin (Matthew Atkinson) will pay for the atrocities he’s committed as of late, but is that truly the case? Soap Opera Network caught up with the character’s portrayer to find out!

Former “One Life to Live” star Amanda Setton (Kimberly Andrews) has been on a slew of shows since departing daytime, including “Gossip Girl,” “The Mindy Project,” and “The Crazy Ones,” and she will now have one more to add to the resume: CBS’ “Hawaii Five-0.”
