With the 40th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards slated to happen today (Sunday, June 16), the entire daytime industry has been abuzz with excitement and preparation. Friday’s Creative Arts Emmys kicked off the weekend-long celebration, and some of soap operas biggest stars came out to support the behind-the-scenes teams responsible for bringing “The Bold and the Beautiful,” “Days of our Lives,” “General Hospital,” “One Life to Live” and “The Young and the Restless” to life! Read on for the scoop on that, as well as to find out how some are prepping for today’s star-studded event!

Days of our Lives

Since the news broke that former “All My Children” star Chrishell Stause (ex-Amanda Dillon) had joined “Days of our Lives,” information about her new gig has been sparse. Until now! Soap Opera Network recently chatted with the actress, and she was able to reveal a few new details regarding her latest alter ego!

The Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards weekend kicked off on Friday, June 14 with the annual Creative Arts Emmy Awards. CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “The Young and the Restless” are currently leading the way with five wins each, followed by “Days of our Lives” with two and “General Hospital” and “One Life to Live” tied with one each, ironically in the same category.

As we previously reported, HLN, the network hosting the the 40th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy awards, is shaking up the beloved broadcast by interviewing the winners of the top seven categories on stage immediately following their acceptance speeches! On the heels of the announcement, Soap Opera Network hit the red carpet for the Television Academy hosted Daytime Emmy Awards Nominee Reception to get a few of the stars’ takes on celebrities Giada De Laurentiis, Sheryl Underwood, Julie Chen, Sam Champion and A.J. Hammer asking the night’s biggest winners a variety of questions on air. Read on to find out whether the idea is loved — or hated!

The Young and the Restless

It’s been 31 years since “The Young and the Restless’” Kate Linder first donned a black and white outfit and debuted as Esther, the maid of Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper). And even though the character has had a number of her own storylines, she will forever and always be tied to the great dame who first brought her to the screen. Soap Opera Network recently spoke with Linder to discuss Esther’s future sans Katherine and sans Cooper.

All My Children, AMC, #AllMyChildren, #AMC

The Wednesday, June 12 episode of “All My Children” featured a hot and somewhat controversial sex scene between Pete Cortlandt (Robert Scott Wilson) and Colby Chandler (Brooke Newton) that was so steamy that it violated YouTube’s Terms of Service. TOLNSoaps, the official YouTube page for The OnLine Network, uploaded the scene to their page only to find the message “This video has been removed because its content violated YouTube’s Terms of Service.” Viewers were advised to click on the YouTube TOS page to learn more.

The Young and the Restless

Fans have been chomping at the bit for more information regarding “The Young and the Restless’” Rose, the mystery woman that Leslie (Angell Conwell) and Tyler’s (Redaric Williams) dad, Gus (Tony Todd), has been dating. Well good news: One more piece of the puzzle has been revealed!

Soap opera fans have seen the revival of “Dallas,” “All My Children,” and “One Life to Live, and now the former primetime soap “Dynasty” is getting a second chance at life too — albeit in a very different way! With the recent surge of 80s-style clothing and accessories hitting the market, CBS has decided to launch a “Dynasty” jewelry collection completely inspired by the classic soap!

The Young and the Restless

“The Young and the Restless’” Cane Ashby (Daniel Goddard) and Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) have been through so many ups and downs in their relationship, it’s a wonder nobody in Genoa City has installed a rollercoaster in the couple’s honor. With so many twists and turns, it would be one hell of a ride. And Cane’s alter ego, Goddard, recently revealed to Soap Opera Network that their tumultuous connection is about to get a lot wilder!

The super popular soap opera “The Bold and the Beautiful” was the recipient of the International TV Audience Award in the Telenovela/Soap Opera category today at the Monte Carlo Television Festival, meaning it is officially the world’s most watched series in its genre. This marks the eighth consecutive year that the sudser has won the prestigious award, which is determined by the sum of ratings across five continents and 65 countries as measured by Médiamétrie and Eurodata TV Worldwide.

We’re certainly hoping that the 40th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards will feature tons of soap opera related content, but we don’t want to forget about all of the other daytime programming set to shine during the big night! Several other categories will be celebrated, and HLN just released the list of presenters who will be handing out the coveted awards.
