( — A murder mystery brings both some new and some not so new faces to “All My Children” this May.

Look for Jennifer Bassey to air in her first “All My Children” episodes of the year this May. Marian Colby Chandler’s return will coincide with the recent returns of Marian’s daughter, Liza (Jamie Luner), and step-son, Scott (Adam Mayfield), as well as the soaps reportedly shocking Monday, May 18 murder.

The wonderfully talented Bassey has played Marian off and on since 1983 and taken the character from a not so terrific mother, she bedded her daughter’s boyfriend (Michael E. Knight’s Tad), to the woman who surprised herself by falling madly in love with the sweet and good Stuart Chandler (David Canary). The Emmy nominee has been with “AMC” in a recurring capacity since 2003, and last appeared on the soap in May of 2008.

Jennifer Bassey makes the first of several appearances on Friday, May 22.

The lovely Lee Meriwether will retrieve Ruth Martin out of the Martin attic on Thursday, May 28 when Pine Valley bids an emotional farewell to one of it’s long-time citizens. Miss America 1955 began playing the Martin matriarch in 1996.

In other news correlating with the upcoming murder mystery, “AMC” has cast the roles of D.A. Henry North and his wife. North will first appear on-screen next week. Expect to see Mr. North’s wife sometime in mid-June. At this time, “AMC” has not released the names of the actors who will be portraying either character. D.A. North, who is described as ruthlessly ambitious, will of course be trying his hand at finding and prosecuting the suspected killer in the upcoming storyline.

Update (Thursday, May 14, 2009 at 12:36 PM EST): Early this morning, 26-year old Stephanie Gatschet reported on her official web site that she will be playing the role of D.A. Henry North’s wife, Madison, on “AMC.” Gatschet taped her first scenes this week and will first air on Friday, June 19. Gatschet is not new to soaps, the actress received a lot of press for the role of Tammy on “Guiding Light.” Why? Tammy was in a hot romance with her (first) cousin Jonathan (played by Emmy winner Tom Pelphrey).

Update (Sunday, May 24, 2009 at 9:45 PM EST)On Friday, May 22, Kieran Campion premiered in the role of D.A. Henry North. Campion has played guest-starring roles on television series such as “CSI: Miami” on CBS, NBC’s “Law & Order: Special Victim’s Unit” and HBO’s hit drama “The Sopranos.” The actor, who is new to daytime, up until recently could be seen in the critically acclaimed limited-run Broadway play “The American Plan” which co-starred Mercedes Reuhl.

Expect to see Campion and Gatschet in the roles of the troubled and trouble-making Mr. and Mrs. North throughout summer 2009 on “AMC.” Both roles are recurring.

    ( — Babe is back…in the spirit.

Amanda Baker is reprising the role of Babe Carey this summer on “All My Children.” The ghost of the deceased Babe will appear to the father of her son, the troubled JR Chandler (Jacob Young), and to her own tortured father, David (Vincent Irizarry).

Alexa Havins originated the role of David Hayward and Krystal Carey’s (Bobbie Eakes) daughter in the fall of 2003. Five years later, the Emmy nominated actress chose to depart the role of her own accord. Havins last “AMC” episode, on October 13, 2008, would be Amanda Baker’s first “AMC” episode. Just one year later, the character would meet a heroic death during “AMC’s” killer tornados.

Will the former Mrs. Chandler give her stamp of approval to JR’s budding relationship with her surprise twin sister, Marissa (Brittany Allen)? Stay tuned. Baker first appears as the ghost of Babe on Thursday, June 4, then reappears on Monday, June 29.

      ‘AMC’ Actress Out?

Monday, May 11, 2009 1:28 PM EST | By Angela Rosa

( — Is Janet’s little girl hitting the road?

Long-running soap opera publication, Soap Opera Digest recently backed up the claims that the popular website Daytime Confidential first reported over a month ago: Chrishell Stause will most likely leave the cast of “All My Children” when her contract expires this summer. This is despite the news that the stunning 27-year old actress, who started in the role of the adult version of Amanda Dillon in May 2005, recently extended her contract. The extension to the contract is reportedly a short one.

Questioned about claims of her impending departure, Stause recently told her Twitter followers “I really wish I could address all the contract rumors. I will have an answer very soon!! As soon as I get clearance I will tell you first.” Although it’s not written in stone, typically when actors are put under some form of a gag order it coincides with an impending departure that the network doesn’t want revealed quite yet.

There’s no word out on whether or not the role of Amanda Dillon, a character who is currently in a hot romance with Dr. Jake Martin (Ricky Paull Goldin) and carrying Dr. David Hayward’s (Vincent Irizarry) child, will be left vacant or recast in the event of Stause’s departure. Soap Opera Network will keep you updated on the latest developments.

( — Well that was fast! Just days after it was announced that Rick Hearst would be leaving ABC’s “General Hospital”, is reporting that the actor has signed on the dotted line with CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful” to reprise his organic character Whipple ‘Whip’ Jones III.

Last seen in August 2002, Whip left town after divorcing Brooke Logan Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang) once their charade of a marriage began to unfold. He is back from working abroad for Forrester International. It is understood that Stephanie Forrester (Susan Flannery) sends for Mr. Jones as she feels he is the best person to handle a PR Campaign for Jackie M. Knowing Whip, he isn’t back in Los Angeles just to get work done.

Hearst’s first airdate on “B&B” is scheduled for Friday, July 17. His final appearance on “GH” as Ric Lansing is set to air in June, but ABC yet to confirm a last airdate.

In addition to his extensive work in daytime, Rick has appeared in a number of primetime series including The WB’s “Charmed”, FOX’s “Beverly Hills, 90210″ and USA Network’s “Pacific Blue”. In 2005, he joined an all-star soap opera cast in the Corbin Bernsen film “Carpool Guy”. The film told the story of a guy named Joel (Hearst), who finds himself stuck in life – not in traffic. He is aided by a homeless man (played by Anthony Geary, Luke Spencer “General Hospital”) that sets him on the right path. The film also starred Patrika Darbo (ex-Nancy Wesley, “Days of our Lives”), Sharon Case (Sharon Newman Abbott, “The Young and the Restless”), Sean Kanan (ex-Deacon Sharpe, “The Bold and the Beautiful”), Lesli Kay (Felicia Forrester, “The Bold and the Beautiful”) and Kristoff St. John (Neil Winters, ”The Young and the Restless”).
