NBC Renews ‘Chicago’ Shows, ‘Law & Order’ and ‘Law & Order: SVU’ For 2024-2025 Season

NBC renews five of its highest-rated shows, including the One Chicago franchise. Meanwhile, the future of "Law & Order: Organized Crime" is under discussion.

NBC has renewed five of its highest-rated and most-watched shows for the 2024-2025 television season, including “Chicago Med,” “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago P.D.,” “Law & Order” and “Law & Order: SVU.” All five shows are produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, in association with Wolf Entertainment.

Among total viewers, all three Chicago series rank among the top 10 primetime entertainment shows this season, led by “Chicago Fire,” which is averaging 12.6 million viewers across all platforms. In fact, all five shows are up double and triple-digits compared to the prior season in both Total Viewers and the key Adults 18-49 demo in Live+35.

In its 25th season, “Law & Order: SVU” is Thursday’s #1 entertainment show in the 18-49 demo. Meanwhile, “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago Med” and “Chicago P.D.” are the top three Wednesday shows this season in Total Viewers.

As for the future of “Law & Order: Organized Crime,” NBC is currently in active discussion with producers over a renewal for the series, which is now in its fourth season.

What follows is a breakdown of how the five renewed shows are performing this season compared to last season in both Total Viewers and Adults 18-49.

  • “Chicago Fire” is averaging 12.6 million viewers (+86%) and is +236% in the demo.
  •  “Chicago P.D.” is averaging 12.0 million viewers (+114%) and is +287% in the demo.
  •  “Chicago Med” is averaging 10.5 million viewers (+57%) and is +141% in the demo.
  •  “Law & Order: SVU” is averaging 11.2 million viewers (+111%) and is +325% in the demo.
  •  “Law & Order” is averaging 7.7 million viewers (+56%) and is +122% in the demo.

“Chicago Med,” “Chicago Fire” and “Chicago P.D.” air as a group, making up One Chicago Wednesday on NBC, starting at 8:00 p.m. and running throughout primetime (11:00 p.m.).

“Law & Order” leads off Thursdays at 8:00 p.m., followed by “Law & Order: SVU” at 9:00 p.m.
