    B&B Recap: Friday, June 17, 2011

( — "The Bold and the Beautiful" Episode Recap — Friday, June 17, 2011.

At Brooke's request, Taylor stopped by her home. Taylor wasn't sure it was a good idea. Brooke told her to stay for at least ten minutes because she had something for her. Brooke assured Taylor that she had no hidden agenda when Taylor expressed her suspicions. Taylor balked that whatever she had to say wouldn't change her opinion on her. Brooke told Taylor that Ridge is safer with her and that she can make him happy. "You're the only other woman who loves him as much as I do," she said. Taylor was shocked when Brooke handed her her wedding ring. "I made a mockery out of this–something that was so sacred. And giving it to you makes me feel like I can take a step forward, like I can fix things," Brooke told her. She said the ring will remind Taylor to keep Ridge happy. Taylor thanked Brooke. Brooke told her to set an example to Hope for what a good marriage should be. Taylor said she would treasure the ring. The two then hugged.

Amber told Carl that she has to know who the father of this baby is before she delivers it. Carl told her that the results were delayed because of a mishap in the lab. "We are running out of time Carl. If this baby comes out and it's the wrong dad, we are in so much trouble!" Carl bolted out of the room after Amber told him to hurry up. Later, Tawny visited Amber and started to annoy her about baby names.

Bill, Katie, and Justin discussed business in Bill's office. Liam called Bill and told him that Amber was in labor. Bill hung up and told Katie and Justin that he's about to become a Grandfather. Later, they all arrived at the hospital and Liam greeted them. Liam told Bill that Amber went into labor right as he and Hope were about to set off for Mexico. Amber's doctor asked Liam to come with her to check on Amber. Bill came along with him but immediately left when Amber's labor screams started to get to him. He went back out into the hospital corridor with Katie and Justin. Justin laughed and gave Bill a cigar. Back in Amber's room, Amber was almost fully dilated (and ready to push) when Carl sended her a text saying the results were almost ready.

Oliver and Hope got comfortable in the Big Bear cabin. Hope couldn't help but think about Liam and talked about how everythings's going to be different now. She layed in Oliver's lap. She noted how unfair it was to Liam how his life changed all in one night. Oliver told her she was right but you can't wish away a baby. "Liam's future is tied to her, yours doesn't have to be," he told Hope. He told her that he loved her and that she could have better. "There's no heartache with me," he said. Just then, Hope's phone rang. It was Liam. Hope took the call outside, where a storm was brewing. Hope could hear Amber's screams through the phone. She told Liam that she was really happy for him. Liam told Hope that he loved her. After the conversation ended, Hope started crying and looked up at the sky. She went back into the cabin with Oliver and thanked him for bringing her there. Oliver said he'd take care of her forever if she'd let him. He told Hope he couldn't wait any longer and got down on one knee and proposed to her.

Amber screamed in pain as she began to push. Bill scowled about it outside in the corridor. Katie laughed at how uncomfortable he was and encouraged him to go inside. Bill mustered up the courage and finally went inside. Carl came into the room and asked for some time alone with Amber. The doctor told him there was no way that could happen with Amber about to give birth. The baby's head becomes visible and everyone looks on as Amber brings a baby into the world!

Julia Barr Sends Message out to Daytime Community for the Week of June 20

( — No, it is not the message “All My Children” viewers have been eagerly anticipating, although Soap Opera Network is confident that the announcement of Julia Barr’s return to the ABC soap with long-time co-star David Canary is imminent. In the meantime, ten-time Daytime Emmy nominee Barr wants us to know that June 20-24 has been designated Born Free USA’s Keep Wildlife in the Wild Week. Born Free USA and entertainers that support the cause including long-time animal advocate Barr, who spent thirty years on “All My Children” as Brooke English, Linda Dano, star of “Another World” and numerous other daytime dramas, popular star of the British edition of “The Office” and film star Ricky Gervais, and television legend Florence Henderson want to help bring light to the serious and dangerous issues that face wild animals and help encourage citizens of the world to take action to help protect the wild animals on our planet.

During the week of June 20, visit the Born Free USA Official Website, the Born Free USA official Twitter feed and the Born Free USA official Facebook page to hear and read supportive testaments from celebrities about Wildlife, read surprising facts about wildlife and learn simple ways we can all help in the effort to keep Wildlife safe and in the wild. In correlation, supporters can get something extra for giving something to this cause by participating in the Born Free USA auction to benefit Wildlife and Wildlife Photo Contest. In addition, two-time Daytime Emmy Award winner Barr and Born Free USA Executive Vice President Adam Roberts asked SON to share the following list with our readers who want to help support the cause.

Born Free USA will offer people dozens of ways they can make a difference during Keep Wildlife in the Wild Week. Among them are these TOP TEN ACTIONS:

      1. Do not buy any wildlife products, such as sea turtle shell or elephant ivory, when you take your summer vacation to exotic destinations.

      2. Enter the Born Free USA Wildlife Week Photo Contest for a chance to win prizes and have your photo posted online. Details and rules at the Born Free USA Keep Wild Life Wild page.

      3. Host a fundraiser with your kids to collect money for your local wildlife sanctuary or for Born Free USA’s Primate Sanctuary, home to over 500 primates. A yard sale, lemonade stand or car wash, teaches kids how to be entrepreneurs for an important cause and make a real difference. Tell us your story and how much money you raised!

      4. Educate yourself and your community about co-existing with wildlife in your own town. Born Free USA has free brochures offering advice and humane solutions for perceived conflicts.

      5. Enjoy your own backyard wildlife by creating a bird habitat right outside your window. Wildlife appreciation starts at home.

      6. Learn about the reality and danger of hidden animal traps, especially if you hike with your dog or have family pets who play outside. Trapping can cause severe injury or death to animals and people.

      7. Show your support for fur free fashion on Facebook by adding Born Free USA’s Fur Free Retailer page to your list of “likes.”

      8. Send ten friends a smile today by sharing the High Diving Monkeys YouTube video filmed at Born Free USA’s Primate Sanctuary in Texas.

      9. Commit to never shop at stores that sell live animals. Retail environment animals are treated like commodities in order for the store to realize a profit.

      10. Become a Zoo Keeper and help end the worst cases of suffering at zoos. Tell Born Free about the conditions for the animals at your local zoo.

David Fumero Won't See His 'Life' Through to the End

( — Yet another cast member is planning to leave Llanview early. According to the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest, David Fumero (Cristian) will be departing “One Life to Live” before the show tapes its final episode in November.

The move is the latest in a series of actors that have already left or are about to leave the canvas as the show begins to trim down its cast in order to bring back several fan favorites as the show winds down. Others on the list include Brian Kerwin (Charlie), Robin Strasser (Dorian), Susan Haskell (Marty), Farah Fath (Gigi), Gina Tognoni (Kelly), and Tom Degnan (Joey).

It remains to be seen how Fumero will be written out of the show. No final tape or air date has been given for the actor, who took over the role of Cristian Vega in 1998 (he left the show briefly from 2003-2004, and again in 2005).  The role was originated by Yorlin Madera in 1995. Fumero is married to his former co-star Melissa Gallo (ex-Adriana).

In the meantime, look for Cristian and Rama (Shenaz Treasury) to continue to cross paths, much to Vimal’s (Nick Choksi) displeasure.

Gigi May be Dead, But Farah Fath Still Has 'One Life to Live'

( — With her character in a coma, brain dead, and connected to life support, one might think it was safe to assume that Farah Fath is about to exit from the long-running ABC daytime serial. However, you would be wrong…at least partially. In a new interview with Soap Opera Weekly, Fath talks about the show’s decision to kill off her character, Gigi Morasco, and hints that there may still be still be some life left for her in Llanview, even after Gigi is six feet under.

“I actually love the way my character is wrapping up. It’s a great twist and makes for a really good soap. This affects a lot of characters and it creates a lot more drama and story for a lot of the core characters. And I had so much fun filming my death scenes. I can’t wait for those to air,” the actress tells SOW. Earlier this week, Gigi succumbed to carbon monoxide poisoning after mistakenly being locked in a basement by Jack Manning (Andrew Trischitta), instead of his intended victim, Gig’s son Shane (Austin Williams).

However Fath, who joined “One Life” in the fall of 2007, claims she isn’t bitter about the show’s decision to let her go. “I don’t feel any right whatsoever to be upset that they are killing my character off because the whole show is going under. I’m so grateful for everything the show has given me. They wrote me a part and they gave me tons of great story and airtime. I would be out of mind if I was to be mad or pissed.” She also admits that she first learned of Gigi’s impending demise from “OLTL’s” Executive Producer Frank Valentini back in March, one month before the show was cancelled by ABC.

So with Gigi not long for this world and with her heart possibly going to her save her father-in-law Clint Buchanan’s (Jerry verDorn) life, but not if his son Rex Balsom (John-Paul Lavoisier) has anything to say about it, does that mean that fans are about to see the last of Farah Fath on “OLTL?” Apparently not. Fath confesses that “You’ll see her around for a long time.”

So that mean that we will be seeing ghost Gigi soon, or is there more to the story? Tune in to find out!

Strasser Leaves Llanview Earlier Than Expected, Previews Exit

( — With only weeks to go until her what supposed to be her final tape date on “One Life to Live” due to supposed back problems, Robin Strasser (Dorian Lord) reveals that her stay in Llanview has been cut short by a week. As we previously reported, Strasser was expected to last tape on Friday, July 1. However, earlier this week the veteran soap actress tweeted that she was “JUST told my LAST tape date ‘OLTL’ is Friday, June 24th, 1 week earlier than original date chosen. TODAY’s script: BEST in years. Ironic!”

But that’s not all. The outspoken actress, who has played Dorian on “OLTL” off and on for three decades, gives her fans a few insights into her character’s exit from the show, only months before it wraps production in November, as well as lamenting about her time on the show.

Here is a collection of Strasser’s tweets from the past week previewing what lies ahead for herself and Dorian:

“Have NO idea how they’ll “wrap up” Dorian. Hope I’ll fare better than briliant Susan Haskell. 15 WORK DAYS? Scheduled for 8. Dorian’s disappointing diminishment continues. I was IN, still on show, but clearly ON the bench for years. Going to studio for costume fitting! FITTING! DORIAN Portrait from LaBoulaie? No bull, 2 b auctioned for charity, w/orig. fotos Angela Lansbury, Cherry Jones, BETTE DAVIS by Hurrell TBA.”

“Taping the opening of Vicker Man. It’s my audition tape for a sit-com, becuz it’s SO silly/fun.Wearing gown designed for me by Susan Gammie ['OLTL' Costume Designer]. Not feelin’ well-Looked SWELL in glammie Gammie gown. Wish silly David and Dorian movie co-starred NY’s future Mayor AlecBaldwin! Scenes were ‘goodbye’ to Viki and ‘Adieu’ to les Cramers. Working with Erika Slezak, and my girls: awesome. Glad I DIDN’T know demise date. GET OVER MYSELF! Right? Whatz the diff of 1 week? Truth is the show is more important to me, than I was to the show. And so it goes… MAKING PLANS to continue raising awareness/$s for good cause/orgs. Fabulous ‘OLTL’ EP Frank Valentini willing to extend a hand. He’s my HERO.”

“Scenes w/ Kassie DePaiva+Tuc Watkins, had FUN! Final date looms: but solutions-ZOOM. Costume? Coco Chanel on Casual Friday (LOL)! All scenes, all day Kassie DePaiva. That’s FUN. FYI:”girls” started riffing material “Let’s Cramerize” thus PTBs came up with Cramer Women. Put on feisty face! Back burner burned my butt. 3 shows to go. Face fiercely forward! More will come. Back not so hot but fervency’s SMOKING. Lots of Cramer Women lovin’ that we’re taping today.”

Strasser is expected to continue to air as Dorian through at least early August, given the show’s current production schedule, however, a final airdate has not yet been announced.

Marissa is upset that he’s trying to make her feel bad for wanting to take things slow. She’s convinced he’s upset because this time he’s not in control. Scott tells Bianca that it would be a mistake for Marissa to take JR back and Bianca admits that Marissa will only go back to him if she’s sure it’s what she wants. Marissa tells Bianca about her date with JR and she can’t believe JR accused her of having feelings for Scott. Jane postpones her conversation with Jackson when reporters and photographers show up and Jackson can’t help but be moved as he watches her. Jackson tells David he can’t hold the Kendall incident over Erica’s head forever and David says he’s not blackmailing Erica, but rather they’re becoming friends again. Erica tells Ben he could end up in prison for helping Jane do something that’s illegal. She says that she can help him but before the conversation can go further Jane shows up and says she needs Erica’s help.

Trumbull shows up to check on Tad and Cara and Tad says she’s working at the hospital and Trumbull asks if she’s working with Jake. Tad tells him how much he loves Cara. He later expresses a similar sentiment to a receptive Cara. Dixie, meanwhile, continues to stir in her sleep as she has Kathy related memories. Amanda tries to talk to Jake but he must go and take care of an emergency patient with Cara. Upset, she heads to the bar and gets a call about Jake being in isolation. David eavesdrops on her call and realizes Amanda’s worried about Jake and Cara being alone together. After getting a call from JR regarding meeting a client at the Yacht Club, Amanda heads on over to handle some business. She and JR toast her success and Amanda decides to stay over at the club and feels it’s Jake’s turn to worry about where she is for a change.
