Bruening Cast as 'Wonder Woman's' Main Squeeze

( — Former “All My Children” hunk Justin Bruening lands starring role on another NBC reboot.

Justin Bruening will star opposite Adrianna Palicki of “Friday Night Lights” fame in the NBC television series reboot of “Wonder Woman”. Bruening will play Army veteran and Justice department employee Steve Trevor. The pilot produced by David E. Kelly has been given the green light by NBC and will debut next fall.

The casting call for Bruening’s Steve Trevor describes the character as “a leading man Diana can’t look past. Good looking but a real man”. Steve is the main love interest of Palicki’s action-heroine who carries along no less than two alter egos – billionaire businesswoman Diana Themyscira and her assistant, Diana Prince. The original “Wonder Woman” TV series which aired from 1975 to 1979 on first ABC then CBS starred Lynda Carter in the lead role and Lyle Waggoner as Steve Trevor.

Bruening, a successful model who appeared in ads for Abercrombie & Fitch, began his acting career on ABC’s “All My Children” as Jamie Martin, son of Tad Martin (Michael E. Knight) and Brooke English (Julia Barr). Bruening played Jamie from 2003 – 2007. The actor met his wife of nearly 6 years, actress Alexa Havins, on the set of AMC; the couple have a 8-month old daughter, Lexington Grace. Following his “AMC” departure, Bruening landed the lead role of Michael Knight in NBC’s reboot of “Knight Rider” which ran for 17 episodes through the 2008-2009 season.

Until the fall debut of “Wonder Woman”, Bruening will keep the acting fires burning with a few guest appearances in prime-time. On Monday, April 11 fans can watch Bruening portray swimmer and suspect Rob Tredwyck on a new episode of ABC’s “Castle”. The actor will then show up on NBC’s new sitcom “Friends with Benefits” which is set to debut this summer.

'One Life to Live' Issues Two New Casting Calls

( — Llanview is about to get a little more crowded as the show recasts an old role and issues a casting call for a minor character who will become involved in a major storyline.

“One Life to Live” has released two new audition scripts in the past week. The first one is for the role of “Eve.” The scene opens with her at “Michael” and “Marcie’s” apartment. Eve tells Michael that she raised her sons aware that her police officer husband could be killed at any moment, and recalls her horror the day it finally happened. Michael reassures his mother that she raised them the best she could, to which Eve explains that she only took things one day at a time. Regretfully, she admits she wishes she had pushed the police department harder to further investigate their father’s shooting.

Eve goes on to say she never realized just how consumed “John” had become by the cold case. Michael tells her that he doubts even John realize how involved he is tracking down his father’s murderer. He confesses that John was on his way to their father’s grave to tell him he had finally solved the crime, when the accident happened. The scene ends with Eve saying that father and son are finally reunited, and they will always be looking down on her and Michael.

It is fairly evident from the script, which a recycled one from 2006 when John McBain was presumed dead following a terrible auto accident, that the show is looking to recast the role of John and his brother Michael’s mother Eve McBain.

The other script is for the dayplayer role of “Sister Bridget,” a nun at St. Ann’s. The scene opens with her talking to “Chad,” who tells her that he is there to visit his wife “Jane Ross.” The Sister asks Chad if the boy with him is his son. He tells her no, that it his wife’s child, and that he really wants to see his mother. Sister Bridget retorts that she was instructed that Ms. Ross was not married to the baby’s father. Chad confirms the fact, but states that he has always thought of him as a son. As the scene ends, the sister looks suspiciously at Chad and asks if they have met before, because he looks very familiar to her. Chad laughs at the comment and says that a lot of people tell him that because he just has one of those kinds of faces. While the character names have been changed in the audition script, it sounds suspiciously like it involves Jessica and Brody.

Adam and Phyllis become frustrated with one another due to the fact that they still can't find any dirt on Koa. The two of them continue to bicker when Phyllis rolls the dice again. The two of them realize that Koa has loaded dice to cheat his way into winning any game. As for Sharon, she gets a visit from her mother, Doris. Doris is upset at how Sharon let this happen to herself. She belittles her for taking up with the likes of Adam, especially over her own children. Doris tells her that she can no longer stand by her side and walks away.

Michael gives Lauren and Kevin the news that Daniel and he caught up and found Daisy, only for Daniel to let her escape. Michael and Kevin come down on Daniel for his actions, causing him to leave. Lauren tells Michael he could have been a bit more understanding to Daniel's feelings.

Jill and Colin talk about paying a visit to Lily. Across from their table, Lily and the family gather to do a little surprise birthday celebration for Sophia. Olivia starts to catch up with the goings on with the family when Sophia and Malcolm arrive. Neil watches on uncomfortably Sophia and Malcolm's lovey-dovey actions. During the birthday celebration, Lily spots a man she swears is Cane and runs up to him.

Jana is at Crimson Lights with Lucy when Chloe arrives. When she spots the ultrasound pictures, she scoops them up from Jana asking what she's doing. Jana quickly takes them from her and tells her to butt out. Chloe, determined to find out what Jana is up to, threatens to tell Billy and Victoria about what a loose-cannon she is, and how unsafe she is with both Delia and Lucy. After learning that Daniel had Daisy and how she escaped, Jana wants to be the one to find her and the baby as a way to get closer to Kevin; while Chloe wants to do the same thing for different reasons. She leaves and makes a telephone call to the one person she thinks could help her: Angelo.

In Thailand, Adam and Phyllis buy their way into an illegal gambling venue. When they arrive, they await to see if Koa will show up; and he does. Adam realizes that they have to come up with another scheme before Koa recognizes him. Quick as a flash, Phyllis leaves and dons her little red seduction dress. With loaded dice in hand, Phyllis re-enters the gambling room and stands right next to an unsuspecting Koa.

At the courthouse, Vance asks Sharon if her mother is coming to lend moral support. A crushed Sharon tells him that nobody is coming to give their support to her. She looks around and sees those on the jury glaring at her. Vance starts off by questioning some of the jury members to see what their perceptions are regarding Sharon based on what they have either read or what they have heard regarding her. After asking his questions of them, he takes a minute to tell Sharon how he's targeting those on the jury that she can get the most sympathy from.

Michael and Lauren argue about Daniel's logic in letting Daisy go. Lauren points out that if Michael were in his shoes, he'd do the same thing in order to find Fen if he were missing. It suddenly dawns on Michael that Daniel deliberately let Daisy get away because he doesn't want the baby found to begin with. When Lauren starts to put two and two together she soon becomes upset by Daniel's actions. Both vow that they will handle Daisy once and for all when they find her.

Olivia tells the rest of the family that she believes that Lily is fall apart at the seams and believes that she needs to seek professional help. Lily walks in on the conversation and becomes reasonably upset. Alone, Olivia apologizes to her, while back at the table, Neil advises that everyone be there for her as much as possible. When Lily forgets her purse in the ladies room, Olivia and Neil go with her as she gets it. When she comes out, she once again believes she sees Cane entering the elevator.

‘One Life’ Serves Up More Indian Drama

'One Life' Serves Up More Indian Drama

( — Fans of Llanview’s favorite new Indian delights Rama (Shenaz Treasuryvala) and Vimal Patal (Nck Choksi) can take comfort in the fact that “One Life to Live” does not appear ready to write them off in the sunset…at least not yet anyway. In the coming weeks look for more drama for the couple as they remain separated from one another. Look for Rama to be inadvertently linked to another man. Vimal, meanwhile, returns on Monday, April 11, when he becomes suspicious of someone he encounters as he awaits a visit from his beloved. The ripples from this chance meeting will result in major consequences for many aching hearts in Llanview.  As we wait for the drama to play out on screen, here’s a look back at how both actors ended up in Llanview.

Since making their daytime debut several months ago, Treasuryvala and Choski have been embraced by many “One Life” fans who applaud the show for its recent attempts to diversify its cast. Choski, who also recently joined the cast of “The Electric Company” as Tuxedo Pete, told Soap Opera Digest in an interview earlier this year that how he put his personal touch on the role of Vimal, saying “There’s this cartoon, ‘Doug,’ on Nickelodeon, and Doug is always saying things like, ‘How did I get myself into this mess?’ I feel like Vimal is trying to scrape by and do the right thing, and then all of a sudden, he’s like, ‘How did I get myself into this mess?!’ He’s just trying to find the best way out. He’s out of his league, you know.”

He also explains how quickly he learned he had gotten the part after auditioning for the show, noting “It was one page of sides. It was funny, because I actually knew everybody in the room, all the other Indian guys I see at other auditions. They called me back, and then by 5, they told me I had gotten the part. Within a day-and-a-half, this whole thing happened. It was gonna just be the three episodes, but then before the first episode was done, they were like, ‘We’ve got to keep this character around [laughter].’”

As for Treasuryvala, the Bollywood movie actress has appeared in a number of Indian films, including “Delhi Belly,” which is currently in production. She has also hosted a show for the Travel Channel and of “MTV’s Most Wanted” on MTV Asia. In January she explained to Soap Opera Weekly how exactly she envisioned Rama’s background, saying “It was an arranged marriage. She was very young when she married him. But she has grown to love him, he is her family now and he is a good husband and sends money home to his parents and hers. But Rama does wonder what it would be like to be with other men.” To learn more about Treasuryvala, click here.

Wendy Williams Continues to Bring 'Access' to Llanview

( — As the Buchanan family sins are one by one being exposed for all of Llanview to see, Wendy Williams returns again as her on-screen persona Phyllis Rose, who saves the best for last for fans of “Access Llanview.”

As we previously reported, Williams will be making her next appearance on “One Life to Live” on Friday, April 15, when she dishes out more dirt on the Buchanan clan while Nigel (Peter Bartlett) and Rama (Shenaz Treasuryvala) stay glued to their television screen at the family’s compound. Also watching the show is Mayor Dorian Lord (Robin Strasser) who gets upset by something she hears, and decides to confront the person at the center of all the controversy, which results in a rather Asa-esque moment. Then on Monday, April 18, Phyllis drops her biggest Buchanan bombshell yet. While we can’t spill the beans, we can tell you that you do not want to miss a moment of the heart-stopping turn of events. 'One Life' Takes Bullying Storyline to the Next Level

( — Bullying is fast becoming a major concern for parents and children in schools and communities across the country. With the problem reaching near epidemic proportions, one daytime drama is leading the push to help draw attention to the issue. Recently, the long-running serial "One Life to Live" consulted with STOMP Out Bullying and Love Our Children USA to pen a storyline in which a major character on the show, Shane Morasco (Austin Williams), was tormented by a classmate, Jack Manning (Andrew Trischitta) and Jack's friends, in large part for no other reason than the simple fact that he suffers from asthma. However, while the storyline has yet to reach its climax, it is certainly taking on a more life-threatening tone – Jack swiped Shane's inhaler and walked away from him in the school gym just as Shane began to suffer a severe asthma attack – it will pale in comparison to what lies ahead.

As with most teens who have been the victim of a bully, the parents are usually the last ones to learn the truth; failing to recognize the warning signs that their son or daughter is going through pain and suffering courtesy of one of their peers. That certainly rings true for Rex (John-Paul Lavoisier) and Gigi (Farah Fath), Shane's parents, who, while observing a major change in their son's personality in recent months, appear to have come to the conclusion that it is just the way of life for a growing teenager. Jack's parent's, meanwhile, particularly his mother, Blair Cramer (Kassie DePaiva), continue to live in denial that their son could be capable of doing something so horrible. Not helping matters is the fact that Jack's father, Todd Manning (Trevor St. John), remains in a coma after being shot by an unknown assailant, leaving Blair to face the situation head on by herself.

What happens when the truth is finally revealed, and the parents learn the extent of the pain and suffering their child has endured for months on end? They typically tend to lash out at those who harmed their child, even going as far as to confront the bully themselves. It should be no surprise that Rex does exactly that on Thursday, March 31, after learning the truth from his mother, Echo (Kim Zimmer), who is unaware that the situation has gotten so far out of hand. That's what happens when you are too busy having an affair with your adversary's husband to pay much attention to your one and only grandson, but that's a story for another day.

Still reeling from Echo's revelation, Rex hacks into Shane's MyFace page, which not only serves to confirm his suspicions, but to put a face with the main person responsible for harassing his only child. Armed with his new found knowledge, he breaks the awful news to Gigi, and hightails it to Llanview High where he comes face-to-face with Jack who, of course, tries to weasel his way out of the situation on Friday, April 1.

Even with his back against the wall, Jack still manages to humiliate Shane one last time….problem is, his final act could have deadly consequences for a boy who has reached his breaking point.

As the story unfolds, the Monday, April 4 episode of the soap can't be missed as Shane puts his "Life" in jeopardy.
