Cast, crew, executives, and reporters gathered on the set of “The Young and the Restless” last week to celebrate Melody Thomas Scott’s 35th anniversary playing the legendary Nikki Reed. Her closest co-stars gave heartfelt words of congratulations to the actress, followed by an incredibly emotional speech from Scott herself. But don’t fret about not being able to take part in the special event: Soap Opera Network was there to capture every moment!

Being on the winning team during this year’s Super Bowl was a dream come true for Seattle Seahawk’s fullback Michael Robinson, but the true touchdown for the Virginia native was being asked to film a scene for CBS’s “The Young and the Restless” — a soap opera he recently admitted is his guilty viewing pleasure! Soap Opera Network took part in a call with the sports star where he discussed his love of the show, how the gig came about and a very interesting conversation had had with legend Eric Braeden (Victor Newman). Read on for the detailed play-by-play!

Melody Thomas Scott may be celebrating her 35th anniversary as “The Young and the Restless’” Nikki Newman, but that doesn’t mean her Genoa City alter ego is the only acting challenge on her plate: She’s booked a guest starring role on CBS’s “The Crazy Ones!” And guess what? The Los Angeles native will be playing a boozy librarian — which won’t be a far stretch, considering Nikki is a recovering alcoholic!

On Monday, February 3, CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” welcomes actor David Tom back into the role of Billy Abbott. The actor, who last appeared on the soap as teenaged version of the character in August 2002, replaces Billy Miller, who opted to depart the series in order to pursue other projects.

Another day, another drama. At least, that seems to be the case for “The Young and the Restless’” Paul Williams (Doug Davidson), who is juggling so many Genoa City cases as Chief of Police, it’s tough to keep all of the details straight! His onscreen wife, Christine (Lauralee Bell), isn’t exactly thrilled that her new hubby is so busy, especially because he took the time to help Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) track down the truth about her son, Dylan (Steve Burton). And unfortunately for her, it looks like Paul’s busy schedule won’t be letting up any time soon! We spoke with the character’s portrayer, Davidson, to get the scoop on whether or not Paul’s work will destroy his relationship and where Nikki might fit into the puzzle. Read on to find out!

With many casting changes in place and new faces set to arrive in Genoa City, the next few weeks on “The Young and the Restless” may be a bit of a flurry. But no worries, because Soap Opera Network has got all the upcoming casting deets right here in one handy-dandy reference place!

The Young and the Restless, The Young and the Restless 40

The recent behind-the-scenes drama over at “The Young and the Restless” has created quite a storm, but a little bit of sunshine broke through the clouds today when CBS announced it has renewed the 40-year-old soap opera through 2017. Fans of the show have taken to Twitter to congratulate the cast and crew, and they’re not alone in the celebration: The actors are also thrilled that the sudser they call home received the official extension.

In a promo that puts emphasis on the word “new,” CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” is promising viewers a new year filled with new drama, infidelity, secrets, and reunions. In the case of infidelity, Billy (Billy Miller) won’t let the search for his daughter’s killer stop him from bumping uglies with Kelly (Cynthia Watros), while Sharon (Sharon Case) and Nicholas (Joshua Morrow) share a reunion of sorts, and Dylan (Steve Burton) wants more information from momma Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) on her secret past. Also look for Victor (Eric Braeden) and Jack (Peter Bergman) as they toast to an exciting new year!
