FIRST LOOK: Lisa Rinna as Billie Reed in ‘Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem’

Lisa Rinna poses as Billie Reed in the first photo from the set of "Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem" plus more cast snaps from the set.

While “Days of our Lives” is currently off the air due to NBC’s coverage of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, there’s been so many things to look forward to when it returns with brand new episodes on Monday, August 9, including word that the soap will soon release a five-part limited spinoff series for the Peacock streaming service entitled “Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem” starring Lisa Rinna (“The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”) who reprises her role as Billie Reed on the new series.

In a first look photo from the set published on Rinna’s Instagram a few days ago, we’re given a glimpse at the character wearing an entirely black business suit and high-heeled boots holding a gun in her most “Charlie’s Angels”-esque pose while standing next to a historic statue and painting that looks as though the character is following a lead in a museum of some sort. As this is a central theme of “Beyond Salem,” it would appear that Billie is working hard trying to track down the missing jewels that’s taking her around the world visiting several different Salemites as they spend a long weekend away from home.

Joining Rinna in the series are Deidre Hall, Drake Hogestyn, Jackée Harry, James Reynolds, Victoria Konefal, Robert Scott Wilson, Billy Flynn, Lamon Archey and Sal Stowers.

The storyline finds John and Marlena (Hall and Hogestyn) traveling to Zurich, Ben and Ciara (Wilson and Konefal) having a romantic getaway in New Orleans, Chad (Flynn) visiting some old friends in Phoenix, and Abe, Paulina, Lani and Eli (Reynolds, Harry, Stowers and Archey) vacationing in Miami. What they don’t realize is that they are all part of a mystery involving stolen jewels which, in the wrong hands, could cause dire consequences for Salem. Enter ISA agent Reed (Rinna) as she crosses the globe in search of the missing treasure.

Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem” also stars Christie Clark, Austin Peck, Thaao Penghlis and Leann Hunley reprising their roles as Carrie Brady, Austin Reed, Tony DiMera and Anna DiMera, respectively. Zach Tinker has been cast as Sonny Kiriakis, replacing Freddie Smith. Chandler Massey returns as Will Horton along with Greg Rikaart as Leo Stark. Eileen Davidson, who has played a multitude of characters across three decades on “DAYS,” is also returning but her character has not been announced.

In addition to Rinna, Clark recently shared a photo of herself alongside co-star Austin Peck from the set. And Penghlis shared a pic of himself with Hunley. See both pics below.

“Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem” doesn’t have an official launch date as of this writing, but it’s been teased that the show might launch as soon as Monday, September 6 on Peacock. The @PeacockTVCare Twitter handle inadvertently revealed the date in response to a fan who had inquired. The tweet was later deleted.

Stay tuned to Soap Opera Network for more information on the series as details become available.
