Soap Opera Digest Covers Now Highlighted by Bonus Network-Specific Coverage, Similar to Soaps In Depth

Soap Opera Digest is picking up where Soaps In Depth left off by highlighting each issue toward bonus network-specific soap content.

Soap fans who might be missing out with Soaps In Depth no longer in print shouldn’t fret, Soap Opera Digest is taking up the mantle as “the only mag for soap news” by featuring alternating covers highlighted by bonus network-specific coverage, similar to the ABC and CBS editions of the former Bauer Xcel publication — SID was published on an alternating schedule between ABC and CBS editions since its launch in 1997.

Since Digest‘s May 25, 2020 issue, the magazine has been promoting itself as the only soap mag in town and has been featuring more than 20 of its standard 72 pages to ABC and CBS soaps on an alternating schedule. Currently, much of the magazine’s traditional sections (late-breaking news, comings & goings, etc) are focused on “Days of our Lives” updates due to “The Bold and the Beautiful, “General Hospital” and “The Young and the Restless” not airing original episodes after running out in April and May, respectively.

To supplement spoilers and storyline related interviews, fans of “B&B” and “Y&R” are being treated with interviews, photos and more of their favorites from CBS throughout the magazine under green-colored tabs while in another issue “GH” fans are enjoying the same as part of the magazine’s ABC coverage (dark blue tabs) —  despite the distinction on the cover for ABC and CBS coverage, each issue features these tabs for the network soaps. “DAYS” (NBC) is also given the tab treatment with light blue tabs provided to distinguish some coverage. It’s unclear whether this change in the editorial layout will continue once all four soaps again have original content airing, or if it’ll continue going forward.

So, if you subscribed to Soaps In Depth and are looking for an alternate soap magazine outside of what you see online at various sites, including Soap Opera Network, Daytime Confidential or MichaelFairmanTV, check out Soap Opera Digest. You won’t be displeased.

Soaps In Depth ceased publishing in late April 2020 with its final issues going on sale on April 27, 2020 and May 4, 2020, respectively.
