Since impeachment trial proceedings began on Tuesday, January 21, ABC, CBS, and NBC have been finding alternative ways to combat the continuous interruptions and preemptions of their daytime programs, either by airing originals in some markets, interrupting their shows in progress for news coverage, or airing reruns whenever possible. Things were no different on Monday, January 27, which marked the fifth consecutive weekday of impeachment coverage impacting the daytime soaps.

As the only daytime soap to air all five days during the first week of the impeachment trial due to its earlier timeslot in several markets, including WNBC in New York, “Days of our Lives” once again aired an original episode today. For those who missed the episode due to NBC News coverage of the impeachment trial in their respective markets, the full episode is available without interruption via the NBC app, Hulu, and other on-demand services.

For the third consecutive day, CBS aired a portion of “The Young and the Restless” before breaking in for CBS News coverage. As such, the full episode is now available for viewing without interruption on CBS.com, CBS All Access and all other on-demand services.

Airing an original episode for the first time since impeachment trial proceedings began, “The Bold and the Beautiful” was preempted today on the east coast due to CBS News coverage but was shown on the west coast. Therefore, the full episode is now available for viewing without interruption on CBS.com, CBS All Access, and all other on-demand services.

General Hospital” remains the only daytime soap to not have aired some semblance of an all-new episode since the impeachment trial proceedings began. On Thursday, January 23, ABC aired a repeat episode from September 9, 2019 (episode #14,382) for those markets impacted by ABC News coverage. On Friday, January 24, a re-run from September 12, 2019 (episode #14,385) aired. The network also aired a re-run from the same time frame today.

Hoping viewers stay tuned for updates on when to catch all-new episodes of “GH,” actors from the show have been shown in videos posted to the show’s social handles telling viewers they are excited to show you what’s coming up but ask you to keep alert for up to the minute scheduling news wherever possible. Today’s video featured Laura Wright (Carly Corinthos) and Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Soap Opera Network will continue monitoring the air schedule for the four daytime soaps during impeachment trial proceedings. We will also continue providing ratings reports whenever possible, albeit the numbers will likely reflect data not seen before on daytime television. Be prepared.
