Ever since we reported that a pilot starring Cynthia Watros (Kelly Andrews, “The Young and the Restless”) was picked up by MTV, speculation began that Watros would be leaving “Y&R” to participate in the new MTV series.
Earlier tonight, Watros confirmed our suspicions by tweeting to her fans that she will indeed be leaving the CBS soap. But CBS wasted no time in recasting the role – an hour later Senior Vice President of CBS Daytime Angelica McDaniel announced that former “All My Children” veteran Cady McClain (ex-Dixie Martin) will be replacing her!
“I LOVED being on Y and R,” Watros tweeted to her followers. “A big hug to the cast and crew! You guys rock! My fans and my not fans. I love you. I hope I didn’t let you down. Last day is March 14. So sad to leave.”
For an hour the speculation on who might replace Watros reached its peak, until McDaniel laid all suspicions to rest. “We’re all sad to see @watroswatros leave #YR for her new series on the East Coast. Please RT to welcome @CadyMcClain to Genoa City as Kelly!”
While McClain hasn’t yet commented on the news that she’ll be joining the “Y&R” cast, Watros had kind words for her replacement. “Welcome Cady!” she tweeted. “She will be fantastic. Kelly is one lucky girl.”
A “Y&R” rep confirms that Watros’ last tape date will be Friday, March 14 and she will continue to appear into mid-April. No exact final air date is known at this time.
