When the fourth season of ABC Family’s “Switched at Birth” premieres next month it will be on a new day and at a new time, the network announced today. “Birth” will begin airing Tuesdays at 9:00 PM ET/PT beginning January 6, following the winter season premiere of the network’s “Pretty Little Liars.”

Starring Katie Leclerc and Vanessa Marano (ex-Eden Baldwin, “The Young and the Restless”), the series follows two teen girls who find out that they were switched at birth. Following the discovery, the two connect and become good friends while their families work to adjust. The series also stars Constance Marie, D.W. Moffett, Lea Thompson, Lucas Grabeel and Sean Berdy. Marlee Matlin appears as a guest star.

The season premiere episode, entitled “And It Cannot Be Changed,” finds both Emmett (Berdy) and Daphne (Leclerc) heading off to college, with Bay (Marano) finding that taking the blame for Daphne may be harder than she thought when the family discovers what she’s done. Meanwhile, Daphne struggles to adapt to being a pre-med student as she faces her own guilt for letting Bay take the fall for her illegal actions. Look for Regina to fret over what will soon be an empty nest.
