List of Returns to 'All My Children' Grows. Who is Next?

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) -- On Friday, July 1, “All My Children” confirmed that Leven Rambin has officially joined the growing list of actors returning to the soap before it goes off the air. Rambin played Jackson Montgomery’s (Walt Willey) step-daughter Lily Montgomery from June 2004 to June 2008 and her paternal and identical half-sister Ava Benton from March 2007 to February 2008. An air-date or air-dates for the actress slated to star on the anticipated book-to-film adaptation of the “Hunger Games” is not available at this time.

Rambin joins an already enormous – and still growing – list of actors set to return for the “All My Children” Goodbye Tour. The following is a master list to help viewers keep up:

        • Cady McClain returned to start taping Dixie’s reemergence on Tuesday, May 10 and thanks to editing first aired a week later on Tuesday, May 17. McClain is here to stay as the mother of the troubled JR Chandler (Jacob Young) and the favorite ex-wife of Tad Martin (Michael E. Knight) thru the final episode on ABC. Look for Dixie to begin doing a lot more than stirring in her sleep, dreaming and whispering phrases beginning on the week of July 18.
        •

        • Eva La Rue will reprise the role of Dr. Maria Santos on Tuesday, July 19, Thursday, July 21 and in three more episodes before the show ends on ABC on September 23. La Rue, who is currently a series regular on CBS’ “CSI: Miami,” taped her first set of episodes on Monday, June 13 and is due to tape the other three episodes before production is shut down on September 2. Late last week, on her official Twitter account, La Rue reaffirmed that Dr. Santos will be involved in story with “Dr. Evil” who is also known to fans of the show as Dr. David Hayward (Vincent Irizarry).
        •

        • Kate Collins, Melissa Claire Egan and Jennifer Bassey are returning for a reportedly brief story arc together later this month. Collins will start her return tour as troubled Amanda Martin’s (Chrishell Stause) mother Janet Green on Monday, July 25. An exact numbers of episodes for Collins return has not been released. Egan will return as Annie Chandler on Thursday, July 28. The 2-time Daytime Emmy Award nominee is reportedly back for three episodes. Egan will be joined by Bassey on July 28. Bassey returns as Liza Colby’s (Jamie Luner) mother Marian Colby for an undisclosed amount of episodes. The aforementioned characters are all currently residents of Oak Haven, Pine Valley’s psychiatric facility.
        •

        • On Wednesday, June 29, Thorsten Kaye returned to the studio to begin taping his return as Zach Slater. The 4-time Daytime Emmy Award nominee revealed to sources close to him that his first script was dated for a Friday, August 5 airing. Soap Opera Digest reports that fans can actually expect Zach to begin airing in July thanks to editing. The actor taped for two days preceding the cast starting a three-week vacation on Friday, July 1. Like McClain, Kaye will remain on the show thru the final episode on ABC. Head-Writer Lorraine Broderick reports that Kaye will be working a lot.
        •

        • Josh Duhamel returned to tape scenes as the popular Leo du Pres on Thursday, June 16. The episodes he taped that day are slated to air in August. The exact air-date and number of episodes he’s back for has not been released. Although it was initially reported he would be back for one or possibly two episodes, ABC Soaps In Depth recently announced that they have heard the Daytime Emmy winner and “Transformers” star could air in up to three episodes. In the latest issue of SOD on stands, Duhamel talks about “first-day” jitters and reconnecting with his long-time on-screen love played by Rebecca Budig.
        •

        • Legendary comedian Carol Burnett will also return to the show. She’s scheduled to tape in August for scenes that are slated to air in September. Burnett debuted on “All My Children” in the role of Langley Wallingford’s (Louis Edmonds) daughter, Verla Grubbs, in 1983. For more details on Burnett’s career, her history with the show and her return, click here!

There will very likely be even more returns before all is said and done on the last day of filming on September 2. At this time the only official word SON has on the returns of David Canary and Julia Barr is there is nothing to report … yet. Canary and Barr spent decades on the 41-year old daytime drama playing, respectively, the premier bad-boy patriarch Adam Chandler and the love of his life and force to be reckoned with in her own right Brooke English. On the popular syndicated morning show “Live with Regis and Kelly,” Kelly Ripa has acknowledged that she has been contacted about returning briefly as Adam’s daughter, Hayley Santos. No final agreement has been reached at this point due to the East coast based Ripa’s busy schedule. La Rue in a recent interview appeared to let slip that Ripa’s husband Mark Consuelos would be back as Maria’s brother, Mateo. There has been no confirmation from either the actor or the show. Rising film-star, Shannon Kane reports that she expects to return as Jesse’s daughter, Natalia, before all is said and done. Ray MacDonnell and Lee Meriwether are also sure to be seen at least once more on “All My Children” as Dr. Joe and Ruth Martin.

Carol Burnett Returns to 'All My Children' this September

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Comedic legend Carol Burnett is returning to “All My Children” one last time before it goes off the air on Friday, September 23. The actress is slated to tape scenes opposite, a legend in her own right, Susan Lucci and the dynamic Jill Larson, who play best gal pals Erica Kane and Opal Cortlandt, in mid-August. Burnett will reprise the role of Verla Grubbs in multiple episodes slated to air in September. The 78-year-old actress originated the role of long-lost daughter of Langley Wallingford (Louis Edmonds) in 1983.

Burnett is a vocal fan and long-time viewer of “All My Children.” Along with her 1983 debut, Burnett reprised the role of Verla on the soap in 1995 to celebrate its 25th Anniversary and again in 2005 to celebrate its 35th Anniversary. In 1995, Burnett also hosted a prime-time special on ABC to honor her favorite daytime drama on it’s silver Anniversary. In a press release from the network, “All My Children” Executive Producer Julie Hanan Carruthers expresses what a honor it is for the soap she heads to welcome back Burnett and adds that “Verla Grubbs is a beloved member of the family and we look forward to reprising her character.” Along with Lucci, the majority of Burnett’s scenes on the ABC soap were opposite the departed Eileen Herlie who played Myrtle Fargate and Verla’s step-mother, Phoebe, played by the departed Ruth Warrick. She also appeared opposite another famous “All My Children” guest star and ABC Daytime fan better know to the public as Elizabeth Taylor.

Burnett, one of the most famous comedians of any gender of all-time, starred on the successful CBS comedy variety show “The Carol Burnett Show” from 1967 to 1978. Fans of sitcoms may also remember her from “Mama’s Family” where she played Eunice Higgins from 1983 to 1985. The series also notably starred Dorothy Lyman who won multiple Daytime Emmy Awards for the role of Opal Gardner on “All My Children.” Burnett has guest appeared on numerous series including older favorites like “Mad About You,” “The Larry Sanders Show” and “The Gary Moore Show” to newer series like NBC’s “Law & Order: SVU,” ABC’s “Desperate Housewives” and FOX’s “Glee” She was also the first celebrity to air on a little PBS program called “Sesame Street” in 1969. The television, stage and movie actress who has earned nearly every prestigious honor available for a legend has also earned six Prime-time Emmy Awards as a performer and a producer and no less than five Golden Globe Awards as a performer.

The latest issue of Soap Opera Weekly on stands mysteriously hints that aside from sharing scenes with the aforementioned “All My Children” regulars, Burnett is slated to share scenes with another face from the past. Neither the exact air-dates or the number of episodes for Burnett’s return have been made available at this time.

First Look: Erin Torpey's Return to Llanview

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — As we previously reported, TV Guide Magazine is confirming that Erin Torpey will be making a final guest appearance in Llanview this fall, in an unknown role. Unfortunately for fans though, it does not appear as if she will be sharing any screentime with her former onscreen mother Victoria Lord (Erika Slezak). So just who will she be interacting with? The website TV Line gives viewers a clue as to just who the mystery person may be.

According to an article on the site, “Ever since news broke that Erin Torpey would be returning to Llanview before the ABC sudser she called home for 13 years signs off, there’s been speculation about with whom, exactly, her non-Jessica character will ‘reunite.’ I’ve seen many folks pin their hopes on ‘mom’ Viki, but alas that is not meant to be. Instead, I will tell you that Torpey’s wink-wink scene will be with one of Jessica’s peers, and not an elder. Guesses?” Torpey played Jessica Buchanan from 1990-2003, when Bree Williamson stepped into the role.

On a related note, photographer Steven Bergman took several photos on Wednesday, June 28 (the day Torpey filmed her scenes) of the actress outside the “One Life” studios with her former co-star and onscreen love interest David Fumero (Cristian), who will be leaving the show before it wraps production in November. But will Cristian be the “peer” she “reunites” with, or was simply a case of two old friends having their picture made together? Tune in September to find out!

              ‘One Life’ Summer Casting Updates

              'One Life' Summer Casting Updates

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — The men in black are back, Mr. and Mrs. Patel come to Llanview, and other minor casting odds and ends for “One Life to Live.”

David A. Gregory (Ford) lists his July airdates on Facebook as the 1, 5, 13, 21, 26, 28, and 29, for a total of 7 of the 20 new episodes set to air during the month (he will also appear in the encore of Erika Slezak‘s 40th anniversary episode on July 4).

Despite the fact that it has already been announced that both actors will be leaving “OLTL” this summer, look for Gina Tognoni (Kelly) and Tom Degnan (Joey) continue to air through the month of July.

Fans of the adorable little tyke Patrick Gibbons, Jr. (Sam) can expect to see more of the the wide-eyed six year old in the coming weeks.

Although it is unknown at this time who has been cast in the roles, Vimal’s parents arrive in Llanview from India on Thursday, July 21, hoping to see their son and now pregnant daughter-in-law. But how will Vimal handle the situation?

Jonathan Earl Peck returns as Agent Baker on Wednesday, July 20 when he and one of his agents track down their man, but what will he do with him?

And look for Christopher Stadulis to appear as Agent #2 soon. The actors says on Twitter that he booked the role on June 9, and on Facebook that his scenes will air on Friday, August 12.

The character of Ionia (Kate Hodge), who plays Dorian in David’s movie “Vicker Man” (and who is currently throwing herself at David), has been given the last name of “Masters.”

              In other news…

Kristen Alderson (Starr) posted this picture on June 30 on Twitter with the comment “Fun photo shoot day!” She also responded to a fan tweet asking if there were any Starr/James love scenes coming by saying simply “maybe.”

Austin Peck showed his admiration of one of his co-stars following the Daytime Emmy Awards, tweetingErika Slezak? No mention. How many Emmys?! How many years?! WTF,” and “nothing against Susan Lucci but Erica Slezak has won how many Emmys and celebrated her 40th on the show.” He also makes several references to his ‘One Life’ character, the porno film producer Rick Powers. Last week he responded to a fan question asking if his storyline on the show would picking up steam anytime soon by saying “I think so. They’re moving slowly. Shows ending so it changes a lot. Bummed, really enjoying it.” He also tells another fan who asks when he would be on again that he “aired yesterday. I have fun doing it. No pun intended.” In addition, he points out to fan that he does not agree with his character’s reasons why people should be in the porn industry, saying “just to clarify. I do not condone.” And Peck also reveals how much longer he will be on the “OLTL,” stating it will be “Till they get tired of me or it goes off the air.”

And here’s a funny little post Nick Choksi (Vimal) made on his Facebook page last Wednesday: “Having discovered that my wife is a lying whore, my character goes on a bender with his new drinking buddy Todd Manning in tomorrow’s episode of ‘One Life To Live.’ This is a fun one. It continues into Fridays episode, where the booze makes me brave. ABC, 2pm, thu and fri.”
