Why the big drop for Days and GH on Friday? It’s weird.

    • Kelly25

Should not be counted, because there were preemptions on Friday

  • Mika

GH was preempted on Friday. They showed the new episode on Monday. Why is Friday being counted? Doesn’t make sense.

    • ErrolLew

While the show was preempted nationally approximately 15 minutes into a last minute repeat broadcast, Nielsen rules require that if a show’s ratings are not to count into its weekly average, the networks are required to give the rating company sufficient notice. As ABC didn’t make the decision to air a re-run of GH in place of a new episode until approximately the morning of, the lower rated episode did count into the show’s weekly average and will count towards its seasonal average as well.

    • Andrew Hass

GH was not preempted entirely that Friday and even though they aired an old episode most fans may not have known that until it aired.Had ABC announced Thursday that they were going to air a repeat episode then maybe it wouldn’t have counted.

      • Bexxxx The Clown

You can bet most that tuned in ont he east coast and central time zones when they saw it was a repeat tuned out. And the west coast got an entire hour of a repeat episode. So take those numbers out and you get a different picture of GH’s numbers for the week

  • Philip

Folks every shows faces preemptions at times. Unless it is preempted in a huge majority of the country it is always counted. It’s happened to every show at one time or another.

If you wanted to be fair then Nielsen would have to not count days that are not normal such as holidays or snow storms when people are at home but normally not. Or when a show faces different competition than it normally does.

Good job to the soaps. Glad to see Y&R back at #1 in the demos.

    • Bexxxx The Clown

Philip this was a national preemption. Obama was on during the east coast broadcast from 2:15pm to 3pm with the first 15 mintues being a repeat episde and the west coast got a complete repeat episode. In the past when there have been national preemptions like this those episodes would not count.

      • Philip

The network has to ask for it not to be counted and they didn’t.

  • Bexx

Even with small gains it’s nice to see Y&R dominating the number 1 spot.

  • Bexxxx The Clown

Since GH was a repeat on Friday in this week these numbers are misleading. Take that days episode out and GH’s numbers would be far higher than there were. The Firday episode was a repeat so shouldn’t be counted

  • Philip

Even if you take Friday out and not count it the shows would still be down from the week before. All 3 shows that dropped on Friday (Y&R, GH, & Days) would still be down from the week before — just not as much. For instance GH would have had a 2.2 (down .1) in HH instead of being down .2 and a 2.1. They would have a little over 2.9 million viewers. Still down from the week before just by a lesser amount.

gosh, what are you commenting here anyway. everybody knows your only agenda is to bash soaps all the time.

your constant bullsh** doesn’t change the fact that soaps are having the best season average (households) since 2007/08 so far.

      • Philip

Funny that you always yell everyone else has an agenda. When you are the one with the most evident agenda of all…and your agenda is to put down all other soap fans who don’t go around making up a thousand aliases to say the same old tired stuff over and over and over adnauseum.

And your constant bullsh** doesn’t change the fact that even with Friday figured in the soaps are still down this week. And even your constant cheerleading and yelling you are the only soap type of soap fan who cares doesn’t change the fact that even though they are having a good season — they still go up and down.

So get over yourself. And quit making the rest of us soap fans look bad with your constant bullsh**. Despite what you think a soap fan can still love his show and realize that it is always isn’t that great or not like other types of shows too.

      • Philip

Oh by the way the last time I looked this is a public message board. It does not belong to you and your thousand aliases (LukeNoah Fan, etc). I’ll post here as often as I want and say whatever I want. If you don’t like then so what.
