Congrats to Y&R, BB, and DOOL! Very solid week for CBS, who continue to prove that they are preferred network.

    • Bexxx The Clown

Congrats to Days for being in last place. Way to go Y&R and GH great numbers even B&B did well. You will have to excuse my twin. Bexx watches ABC all day witha big grin on her face then trolls online complaing about the ABC Shows especially GH

      • sands of time

DAYS is in last place, but contininues to grow in numbers. The quality is very high. The numbers should grow if people realize the greatness that is Days of our Lives. Looking forward to Kassie DePaiva and the return of Eileen Davidson should be enough to get viewers to tryout DAYS and fall in love with the best daytime drama ever!!!

      • DaysFanSince83

Congrats bexxx the clown 4 being a dumbass!!

        • Bexxx The Clown

Really was Days not dead last? If that makes me a dumbass so be it. Keep supporting your last place garbage show!

      • DaysFan

As least NBC cares enough about Days to put out a press release about it’s good ratings. Both CBS and NBC bragged on their soaps this week, but where was ABC?

        • let the numbers speak

ABC has a big problem. GH’s numbers are too good in comparison to the AMC and OLTL replacement shows, especially in the key sales demos. They are afraid of advertisers increasing the pressure to bring AMC and OLTL back in order to get a full afternoon of GH-like ratings. Yeah, that’s totally irrational, but so was canceling these soaps in the first place! And GH is the living proof of that!

        • Bexxx The Clown

Yea well they dont need to brag about the GH numbers. NBC bragging when the show is still last place and by a large number isnt exactly the press release I’d be wasting my time and money on.

  • Jeff

Another great week for all the soaps. For all the complaining that goes on about GH the numbers sure tell a different story. Congrats to all 3 soaps.

  • let the numbers speak

It’s not the “winter weather” that makes soaps the daytime genre that draws the best ratings in the key demos by far. It’s quality.

Congrats to all 4 soaps for the best season average since the 2007-08 season!

And we’re looking forward to many more soaps again!

  • Alex

gosh, soaps are drawing better and better ratings again.

the network that gets it first and puts AMC/OLTL and/or ATWT/GL back on, will be the biggest winner of all!

  • Sally VanDyke

I wish someone could explain to me WHY Y&R and B&B continue to beat GH and DOOL in the ratings! The two best shows stay at the bottom while the two worst keep on winning. Even though I watch all the soaps, I can barely tolerate B&B and have to FF most of the show. Y&R keeps getting worse and worse, but the numbers stay up there. How are the ratings decided anyway?

    • PatF

From what I hear, see and read about GH, I wouldn’t label it best at all. It had a few good moments last year, yes. Lately even its vocal fans are complaining.
Days is the better of those two most definitely, and just needs to keep resonating with the audience like YR did for decades.
Days was in a slump for many years, and just didn’t maintain its audience like CBS Daytime does.
BB has been climbing for a couple of years, and now YR is heading back to good writing form. Congrats to all the shows, though.

  • Harlee

Heck, if all soaps can keep this momentum up sweeps month looking sweet for all soaps. Congrats on each and every soap for a strong showing, this industry needs this kind bang to show daytime dramas could be and still more profitable and entertaining then talking heads of cheap talk shows.

I will tell you why YR & BB keeps climbing because it’s the Tiffany network and which means CBS….CBS has dominated daytime since the 1950s. Having said that YR does have some problems at least for me. I’m not loving all stories but with Jean coming aboard and now finishing up Josh’s mess there has been more punch & excitement in the delivery. I’m extremely hopeful about Jean’s upcoming stories, I liked her on ATWT and she knows CBS style, this isn’t GH as she wrote completely different in the approach and kept GH as ABC style.

BB this past Friday had the most shocking ending on soaps I have seen in decades!!! It came out the blue for me seeing Ridge! In true Bell style. I hope Brad does do a real bisexual story, we seen gay stories now on soaps but a true, thoughtful bi story. Boy wouldn’t this bring down the House of Forrester in so many ways!!

As for Days, DOOL has been the best, most entertaining soap for months now and all the stories are melding beautifully together. Gary, Chris & Lorraine has it rocking like no other soap. The addition of Richard C, Carolyn C, & Melissa S which is longtime P&G writers speaks volumes.

Days is only .2 tenths behind GH and with Eileen returning I feel Days will overtake GH. Not trying to be mean but how many mustache twirling villains does GH need, it’s way overkill and the villains always win. This is way too much for my taste, I want more drama & character driven stories.

Just what I’m see and enjoying in soaps.

    • Kelly25

Are you kidding me? There have only been TWO gay couples and stories in daytime soaps so far that lasted longer than some weeks or months: Luke and Noah (ATWT, 2007-2010) and Will and Sonny (DAYS, 2011-present).

Gay characters and couples are still extremely underrepresented, and these old tired “bisexual” triangles where the guy usually has to stay with the irresistible woman in the end and forgets about his homosexuality are certainly not the kind of respectful portrayal of gay identity and relationships that we need to see again in 2014.

So, if there is a bisexual character on a soap, the only thing that would be different from what we see 24/7/365 is indeed a GAY relationship, if you like it or not.

And it’s actually ridiculous that B&B of all shows – featuring an industry where gay men are often not a minority, but a majority – has not had a single gay character and couple on the show in almost 27 years.

i’m not sure whether i want b&b to portray gays, though, because given their history of writing that would probably mean: cliché, cliché, cliché and stereotyping, stereotyping, stereotyping… but you can put me right, b&b writers, if you want…
