This was a big vacation week and with 4th of July falling mid-week not surprised at all

  • Scribbles

Weren’t there power outtages across the country that week?

  • Annfogleman

There is only one way to say this. GH ratings are horrible! There is nothing good about these ratings. A 1.5 for a daily rating is abysmal. Sadly, I do not expect these to change very much at all. This is still cancellation numbers.

  • Bigboicam

No excuses ppl Days Of Our Lives went up and H.T.H can you say oh ppl are on vacay WTF most ppl stay home. Nobody wanted to watch. The week b4 this GH lost 140,000 viewers. They are getting 1.7 because Ron Cartivati is a hack writter.

  • liliou

So Days went up in total viewers but was bad on the demos..why ?!

  • Darcy

Congrats to DOL for being the only soap to “gain viewers”

I’m not surprised GH is down…its the “pets parade”  people are waiting for some more airtime & stronger storylines for GH characters these OLTL crossover characters are highly marketed while favs like Elizabeth Webber, Alexis Davis, Patrick etc has no solid storyline and/or little airtime…!   Stop pimping OLTL characters & Jason/Sam had spread the stories..why do I have to hear these pets dialog the “same conversations” eating up air…

GH Management needs to shift direction fast. They have been given a gift with their reprieve until 2013, but these numbers demonstrate they continue to lose viewers. Currently, this show is barely watchable except for a few bright points (Finola Hughes) when she is not mooning over Luke(that is still a big WTF) ,who has really turned into an annoying/sleazy character . They have turned the Heather character into a cartoon with no depth at all. At least try to make her somewhat human. Another mob character? Another mob war? Seriously? This baby-switching story is so cliche and really should have been over weeks ago. Sonny has lost his mojo with this ridiculous never-ending DID story. This needs to end asap.
I have no issue with bringing OLTL characters over, in fact, McBain and Todd are really good, Starr can and should leave, like yesterday. However, these characters, I feel are being given primo storylines and dialogue at the expense of veteran GH characters (Patrick, Alexis, Tracy, etc.). It would not be an issue at all, if the ratings had improved, but they have not, in fact they are getting worse. They need to stop with plot-driven stories that totally change the nature of GH characters making them unrecognizable turning fans away. One final point, they need to learn GH history, make somewhat of an effort in understanding these characters, before writing them to fit your vision that is clearly not working.
Vacation/Blackouts are not viable excuses when 1 of 4 managed to increase in the ratings

I agree with everything you said. The characters are unrecognizable. The veterans are getting the backseat instead of being front and center. Elizabeth is being used as a rebound girl. She needs her own love interest instead of being threwn into Jason’s mess. She deserves better than him. I have stopped watching. Nothing on my screen that deserves my time and viewership. I would rather GH be cancelled than watch it being destroyed by writers who clearly do not care about the history and depth of the GH characters.

  • I don’t know how these rating work? Do the ratings know if the show is being DVR’d? I may not watch a show while it is being aired but I record and watch later.

    • Sue

They know if it’s being DVR’d, but you have to watch the show within 1 or 2 days and if you skip any commercials, even only one, it’s NOT counted in the ratings.

  • nolizzard

Of course ratings are down on GH. Ron came on and has been pimping OLTL characters ever since. Don’t get me wrong love Todd he can stay but the rest need to go. He has written JASAM so out of charcter they are unrecoginzable and why to pimp McBam. John McBain belongs with Natalie. Jason belongs with Sam. I wish Ron would of cared enough to learn the history of these charcters before he destroyed them. I can no longer watch GH it just isn’t the same. Very sad because I have been watching since I was a kid with my grandma.

    • For the love of God please don’t stop watching the show! Even if you don’t like what you’re seeing right now, please watch it anyway! I don’t want it to be cancelled. Ron Carlivati is between a rock and a hard place right now, trying to frantically write stories that will appeal to both GH and OLTL fans in an attempt to get both fan bases watching the show, to raise ratings. Ron and Frank Valentini are under unthinkable pressure by ABC to deliver a ratings surge by the time GH takes over OLTL’s time slot in September. It cannot be fun, nor easy, to be in their positions right now. They are simply throwing everything against the wall to get people to tune in to make sure ABC doesn’t cancel them. Even if the way they’re going about that doesn’t please every viewer, please stick with them–for the show’s sake, and for the soap genre’s sake. I truly don’t think I can take another cancellation.

    • Bex

Same here! The constant pimping on these OLTL characters is sickening, and I too have begun to tune out. GH fans are loyal to their show, and their characters, so when someone comes in and suddenly begins to backburn our characters we get offended. Ron and Frank need to both be relieve of their duties.

I am very interested in finding out where Blair got the dress she had on when she was at todds apartment and at star’s apartment and at the haunted star. I can’t get that dress out of my mind. I loved it and she looked so beautiful.
