(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — You may be asking yourself why in the world would we be doing a ratings reflection that highlights ABC’s canceled “All My Children” as ranking second in households (amongst all soaps) for the season when the show has already gone off the air with its last episode airing on Friday, September 23 and talk show “The Chew” already replacing the soap in its old timeslot. If I were to tell you that because ABC scheduled the series finale of “AMC” during the first week of the 2011-2012 television season that the soap would remain in the season-to-date rankings until September 2012, would you believe it? You better!
In the latest ratings released on Friday covering the week of October 3-7, 2011 and the season-to-date ratings of September 19 through October 7, 2011, ABC’s “All My Children” jumped from a 2.3 in households based on the previously reported Live+SD ratings to a 2.4 using newly released Live+7 ratings reflecting the soaps final week on television (week of September 19-23, 2011). In Women 18-49, “AMC” jumped from a 1.1 to a 1.2 rating and in Women 18-34 the soap jumped from a 0.6 to a 0.7 rating. The soap is tied for first in Women 18-34 with “Days of our Lives,” “The Price is Right 2,” “The Young and the Restless” and “The View.” “AMC” is second in Women 18-49 for the season just behind “Y&R,” which ranks first with a 1.4. In Women 25-54, “AMC” ranks second again behind “Y&R” with a 1.7 for “AMC” and a 1.8 for “Y&R.” In the original Live+SD numbers “AMC” ranked second with a 1.5, which shows the soap gained .3 when Live+7 was factored in.

With “All My Children” no longer a factor in the current daytime climate, for the week of October 3-7, 2011 CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” remained daytime’s most watched soap with 4.2 million viewers watching the daily antics in Genoa City. The soap has lost 15% of its audience (or 765,000 viewers) compared to its performance a year ago (week of October 4-8, 2010). Despite receiving more viewers than any series aired on The CW, including in the rarely reported Adults 18-49 demographic, and remaining the most watched daily serial, the soaps performance would place it in serious danger of cancellation if it were aired in primetime on any of the big four broadcast networks with the exception of maybe a Friday night airing on ABC, FOX or NBC. “The Bold and the Beautiful” by comparison has lost only 8% of its viewership compared to the same point last year (2.9 million vs 3.1 million). Overall CBS has lost 12% of its daytime viewership compared to last year (3.0 million vs 3.4 million). The network is down 8% in households (2.2 vs 2.4) and another 16% in Women 18-49 viewers (530,000 vs 631,000).
ABC is down 5% in households year-to-year (1.9 vs 2.0) and 9% in total viewers (2.5 million vs 2.7 million). The network is down a whopping 24% in both Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 viewers (541,000 vs 712,000 in Women 18-49 viewers; 714,000 vs 941,000 in Women 25-54 viewers) compared to its performance during the same week last year. ABC is down another 28% year-to-year in Women 18-34 viewers (163,000 Vs 225,000). With “All My Children” no longer in the mix, the network is losing ground in every ratings category with “General Hospital” losing as much as 30% or higher in a number of key demographics including a 50% drop in Women 18-34 rating and 51% in Women 18-34 viewers. “One Life to Live” has lost only 17% of its Women 18-34 (rating) audience and just 23% in actuals. “The View” is the sole bright spot for ABC with a gain of 10% in viewers (3.7 million vs 3.4 million) and another 12% gain in households (2.9 vs 2.6) compared to the year-ago.
NBC’s sole program during the daytime hours remains “Days of our Lives,” which is up 5% in viewers year-to-year and either flat or marginally down in most other categories.

IT HAPPENED TODAY…
Outside, Katherine spotted Harmony in her car. While looking at the car, she noticed that the person was living out of her car. Harmony, who was putting make-up on, looked up and their eyes connected. It was clear that Katherine didn’t know who she was.
Tucker was with Sofia holding Moses, when the doctor came in. Sofia let her know that Tucker was aware of the paternity test. When she stepped out, Tucker asked Sofia who she wanted the baby to belong to. Meanwhile, Neil, who was with Devon and Lily, asked how his talk with Tucker went. Devon said that he accepted apology, but it didn’t change who he was. Lily, listening to the conversation, was in agreement, clearly thinking on her situation with Cane. Neil told Lily to trust her instincts. When he received a call from the hospital, he shared the news that he was headed there regarding the paternity test.
At Crimson Light, Phyllis sat down with Malcolm. He showed her a picture of Moses. As she looked at it, she asked him if he was still mad at her. He told her that he wasn’t pleased but had other things on his mind. She pressed him to tell her what was going on. After promising not to blab, Phyllis found out that a paternity test was going to be done. She also learned that Neil and Sofia had an affair together. Phyllis talked up Malcolm, telling him that he should be the baby’s father. While he worried that the baby wouldn’t be his, Phyllis continued to give him hope.
Chloe learned that the tests that were one on Delia showed positive signs to do the bone marrow transplant. When the nurse left, Chloe commented on Billy not being there for her. Victoria told her that she was doing fine on her own. Chloe thanked her for being there with her. As for Billy, he was in the trailer with Kevin, grilling him about Victoria. He wanted to know if she mentioned anything about divorcing him. Kevin said not specifically; but she did want to move on. When Billy started to ask Kevin to do him a favor, Kevin said he was already too in deep as it was. Victor arrived, giving them the news that Delia’s bone marrow transplant would take place today. He once again threw his weight around, telling Billy that once she was healthy, he could remove himself from their lives.
While Tucker cheered Sofia up regarding the paternity, Devon and Lily also did the same for Neil. When Devon asked Neil how things would be if Sofia wasn’t with Malcolm, he quickly stopped the topic; pointing out that Sofia was with Malcolm. Lily and Neil were heading out when Katherine showed up, wanting to talk to Devon. Devon was reluctant to let her in but did so. She didn’t want him to miss out on his chances at his dream, but he wanted no part of her. She stressed that she wasn’t using his career opportunity as a way to get even with Tucker. Katherine told Devon that they were family and that she wanted to make things right. When he compared her to Yolanda/Harmony, she said they were nothing alike. He told her that she stopped by also, to apologize. He showed her a picture of her. Katherine realized the woman she saw in her car was Devon’s mother. She vowed to regain Devon’s trust in her.
Tucker saw Harmony applying for a job at Gloworm. He claimed that he wanted to make it up to her. His way of making it up was by writing a check. When he handed it to her, he told her that he wanted her to leave town immediately. Harmony was peeved that he was trying to get her out of town so he can have Devon to himself to make things right. Tucker didn’t deny that he wanted to spend time with Devon. Harmony refused to be bought, telling him that all the money in the world that he had couldn’t compare to the love that she had for her son. She tossed the check back in his face and walked out.
Kevin was at the hospital; so was Billy; both in separate rooms. Dr. Larson expressed her un-easiness regarding the nature of performing the bone marrow transplant. She asked Victor and the assisting doctor to leave the room so she could talk to Billy alone. She asked him if he was there against his will. Billy said he did everything just to get there to save his daughter’s life. Victor, meanwhile, told the assisting doctor to make sure that Billy didn’t leave the room or that anyone came to see him.
Lily once again ran into Cane in the park. He hurriedly ended a phone conversation. Lily soon deduced that Cane was talking to his father. She stressed how he once again is lying to her. She started to rethink her decision of letting Cane spend time with the twins, afraid that once again he’d put them in danger.
Phyllis went to the hospital with Malcolm and saw baby Moses. Sofia shared with Phyllis that she named the baby after her father. When Phyllis left to get coffee, Sofia realized that Malcolm shared the news of the paternity. When Malcolm commented that he knew she wanted Neil to be the father, she told him not to think that way. Malcolm shared his love for the baby. He went over to hold the baby with Sofia. At that moment, Neil walked in, witnessing the scene.
Kevin was dismayed at having to continue playing along with the ruse of having the bone marrow surgery. Chloe came in to check on him. She bought him a thank you gift, which made Kevin feel worse, especially when Victoria wheeled Delia in to see him, handing him a picture she drew of him as a hero. Billy, in the meantime, woke up to Victor’s presence in the hospital room. Billy commented how Victor was protecting Victoria by purposely denying him being with his own child. Victor showed lack of care, though, pointing out that once Delia was better, he wanted Billy out of town for good.
Katherine went back to Harmony’s car to meet with her. She asked if she had a place to stay. Harmony was leery of her, telling her she didn’t need her charity. Katherine revealed that she knew who she was, and wanted to help her. Devon went to Gloworm to get something to eat and bumped into Tucker. Tucker wanted them to have lunch. When Devon spotted the check, he deduced that Tucker tried to buy Harmony off. Tucker said that he was merely showing generosity. Devon laughed at his comment, telling him to take his money and shove it.
A musical montage played as Delia and Kevin smiled at one another. Victoria bumped into Victor, who was still lurking about at the hospital. Cane pleaded with Lily to see the twins, as she walked away. Also at the hospital, Malcolm handed Moses to Neil, who was revealed to be the baby’s father. Meanwhile, Katherine opened up her home to Harmony.
On the Next The Young and the Restless…
(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — “The Young and the Restless” Episode Recap – Thursday, October 13, 2011.
IT HAPPENED TODAY…
Lily, still puzzled by Cane’s abrupt departure from the apartment, calls him on his cell phone. She wanted to know if he was alright. Meanwhile, Cane shared his disappointment in the police not being able to break his codes. Ronan pointed out that it would be hard to do, but Cane vowed not to give up until he brought his father down. Ronan and Cane continued to talk about digging up Colin’s dirty deeds, but Ronan had to leave. As Cane sat down on a park bench, Lily suddenly arrived, wondering why he was at the park and not at work.
Genevieve and Jack went to Gloworm , where they came across Jill and Colin. Jill told Jack about Genevieve locking Colin in the wine cellar, but before Genevieve could answer him on it, Gloria showed up with a large cake in the image of a safe. Colin assumed that Genevieve was behind it, but she told him someone else must know about his little secrets. Jack didn’t understand what was going and wanted to know about the wine cellar. Genevieve blatantly lied, but Jack focused on what Jill shared. An annoyed Jill blurted out that Colin asked her to go to Australia.
Devon and Neil were at Crimson Lights when a reporter cornered him, wanting to get a scoop on being the son of Tucker McCall. Devon pointedly told the reporter that he had no comment. When the reporter continued to press, Neil stood up and told him to get lost. Devon shared how he wanted the likes of Tucker, Katherine and Harmony to just leave him alone. When Neil questioned on Harmony, Devon told him that it was what Yolanda went by now. Neil couldn’t believe she was back in Genoa City. Meanwhile, Tucker approached Devon’s front door, looking for him. Harmony let him in. He asked where Devon was, but she told him that he was out. Harmony questioned if he knew who she was. He told her he didn’t. She told a stunned Tucker that she was Devon’s mother. She went on to tell about their past together and how after learning she was pregnant, having someone give her money to ‘have it taken care of’.
Neil advised Devon to take things head on, regarding Harmony and Tucker. Devon took his words to heart, but swiftly changed the topic to his joy with his music. The two of them left to head to the hospital. Meanwhile, Tucker wanted to know who gave her money. She told him that his road manager, Ruben, who stated talking to him, gave the money. The two soon started to play the blame game where Devon was concerned. After cooling off a bit, Tucker wanted to know what the two of them should do now.
Cane swiftly told a suspicious Lily that he wasn’t needed at work. They talked about getting together to do something when his cell phone ring.. When he refused to take the call, Lily once again asked Cane what was going on. He told her that the call could wait; he wanted to spend time with her and the twins. She point blank shared that she believed that he was hiding things from her again.
At Gloworm, Ronan showed up, seeing Jill, Colin, Jack and Genevieve together. Gloria quickly went over to tell him what was going on, pointing out that Colin had made plans to leave for Australia with Jill. Back at the table, Colin pointed out that there was nothing wrong with his taking Jill to Australia with him. Genevieve snipped that they should leave and never come back. Jill cut a huge slice of cake for Genevieve and taunted her with it. A frustrated Genevieve demanded a word with Colin. Alone, Genevieve told him that she was the one that held the key to unlocking the codes that the police had. An angry Colin manhandled her, which Jack saw. Ronan saw it too, and after things cooled down, and Jack and Genevieve left, Ronan pointed out that he would be watching Colin.
Tucker told Harmony that he wanted to do whatever he could for his son. Harmony wanted him to leave Devon alone; to let Devon come to him in his own time. Just at that moment, Devon and Neil showed up. Tucker wanted to talk to him but Devon didn’t want to. Neil swiftly escorted Harmony out, giving the two some time to talk. Alone together, he wanted her to explain herself. Neil listed her past deeds after she stated she was there for Devon. Harmony told him that despite her mistakes, she truly cared about Devon and Neil. Back at Devon’s, Tucker tried to apology for his lack of being there. He quickly tried to put the blame of his not knowing about him on Harmony. Devon called him out, asking if he even recognized Harmony. He then asked how come it took Katherine and Paul months to find out who he was, when Tucker couldn’t find him in the 20 some years upon knowing about him.
Colin still wanted an answer from Jill about leaving for Australia. She told him that she wouldn’t go. She pointed out the last time he asked her to go, he wanted to steal the twins. Colin admitted he wanted to go back home for good, but with her.
Genevieve praised Jack for his standing up to Colin to defend her. Jack wanted to know how she ever wound up with Colin. She admitted she was young but now, thanks to Jack, she is a new person again. The two soon started to kiss one another, taking the session over to the couches where they got passionate.
After hearing Tucker’s apology for not being there for him, Devon told him that while he accepted his apology, there was nothing he could do to change things. Tucker wanted a chance, but Devon wanted him gone. Meanwhile, Neil wanted to know the true reason for Harmony being back in Genoa City, besides wanting to be there for Devon. When Harmony left, she bumped into Lily, who was entering. Lily wanted to know why she was there. Neil told Lily that she has a new name and was making a new life. When Lily asked if he believed her, Neil told her no.
Jill had to leave to take care of an emergency at Fenmore’s. When she left, Gloria eyed him, making him aware that she was up to something. Colin wasn’t aware, however, that Ronan set up to wire tap to listen in on all Colin’s conversations. Ronan shared the news with Cane. A call came through and they both listened as Colin stated that Gloria and Genevieve have to be dealt with.
Tucker wanted to continue talking to Devon, but he wanted nothing to do with him. Tucker walked out of Devon’s house, crushed that his son wanted nothing to do with him.
