'All My Children' Begins the Spring Cleaning Process

( — In the days following the news of "All My Children's" cancellation on April 14, a person claiming to be Trent Garrett went on Twitter to reveal that certain actors would be exiting early from the ABC soap, him included, to make way for returns. As the news went viral, including on Soap Opera Network, "All My Children's" official Fan Club President Debbie Morris was contacted by the actor who claimed he did not have a Twitter account and did not tweet those messages. Whatever the case, the Twitter birdie was on to something that many fans predicted as a strong possibility once news of the cancellation broke. In the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest covering Summer Previews, several sources have confirmed that fans should "expect multiple cast members to exit before [AMC's] September finale to make way for returnees and a focus on long-term characters."

On Thursday, June 2, not unexpectedly Eddie Matos will become the first of those casualties. Matos has played the recurring character of "Reverend" Ricky Torres since December 2010. Matos 6-month run as the undercover hit-man will wind down following a showdown with the object of his obsession, Kendall Hart Slater (Alicia Minshew), this week. The actor reports that he is open to the possibility of a brief return to coincide with the return of Thorsten Kaye's character, Zach Slater, later this summer. Torres, and the rest of Pine Valley, of course are under the belief that the hit-man successfully killed Ms. Hart's husband last November.

As previously reported, Cady McClain returned to "AMC" as Dixie Cooney on May 17. She will begin airing regularly in late June. Kaye is expected back on screen regularly in August. If, like with McClain, scenes of Kaye are inserted into already taped episodes after he begins taping in late June he could begin appearing sporadically before then. "AMC" is also reportedly very interested in luring David Canary and Julia Barr back as Adam Chandler and Brooke English. Famous "AMC" alumni such as Josh Duhamel (ex-Leo) and Sarah Michelle Gellar (ex-Kendall) have expressed interest in returns before the end. Talk-show host Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley), her husband Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo), and rising star Shannon Kane (ex-Natalia) are also expected to return in some capacity before all is said and done.

Soap Opera Network will continue to keep you up to date on the future comings and going on "AMC."

Josh Duhamel Return in Works at 'All My Children?'

( — “All My Children” fans know that “Transformers” hero Josh Duhamel started his acting career playing Leo du Pres on their favorite ABC soap in November 1999. In that time the talented 38-year old actor earned three Daytime Emmy nominations in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actor and took the coveted Emmy home in 2002. Duhamel broke the hearts of many “All My Children” fans when he chose to depart the show and Leo vanished into Miller Falls in October of that year. But with Pine Valley set to close up shop for good on Friday, September 23 is there a chance for Mr. du Pres to rise from his watery grave? On Thursday, May 19, a cryptic Duhamel went on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” to discuss that very matter (see video below).

Two days prior, on Tuesday, May 17, Duhamel also took to his official Twitter feed to leave commentary that was as interesting. When asked by a curious Twitter follower if he’d be “willing to come back to if asked,” the popular actor fired back that “[AMC] fans will just have to wait and find out :>.” Further speaking towards Duhamel’s openness to a return, on April 14 (the day “All My Children’s” cancellation was announced) the actor also tweeted “LEOLIVES.” On “AMC’s” Official Facebook Page, also on May 17, the actor unexpectedly dropped by and left this message: “Leo’s just stopping by & saying hi! How’s everyone doing?” All of this leaves many of us speculating that the actor and the ABC soap have already discussed the possibility of a return. This past Friday, Daytime Confidential’s Jamey Giddens reported on his podcast that their reliable “All My Children” sources have confirmed that contact has indeed been made.  Stay Tuned as this story continues to develop!

After departing “All My Children” in 2003, Duhamel enjoyed a successful run in prime-time. He landed a leading role on the NBC drama “Las Vegas” opposite James Caan. The series ran for five seasons from 2003 to 2008. Since then, Duhamel has kept busy on the big-screen. He has starred in the successful “Transformers” series of films. “Transformers: Dark of the Moon,” produced by the great Steven Spielberg, opens in theaters on June 29. Some of Duhamel’s less successful movies include 2004′s “Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!” opposite Kate Bosworth and 2010′s “When In Rome” opposite Kristen Bell and “Ramona and Beezus” starring Selena Gomez. Before landing acting roles, Duhamel was a model and appeared prominently in Donna Summer’s “I Will Go With You” and was an extra in Christina Aguilera’s “Genie in a Bottle.” The actor has been married to singer Stacy “Fergie” Ferguson from the Black Eyes Peas since January 2009. The couple is rumored to be expecting their first child.

Fact or Fiction: Production of 'All My Children' to Halt for Three Weeks in July?

( — Vincent Irizarry, who plays David Hayward on “All My Children,” reportedly told fans during a fan event the weekend after news broke that the ABC soap was canceled that production on the drama series would go dark for three weeks in July, as per usual. This despite the soap opera being scheduled to cease production for good come August. Since then fans have been speculating if Irizarry’s comment was misconstrued due to the fact that as a New York based production “All My Children” did not have a three week hiatus in July. Did the back-burned actor mean he would be going on a normally scheduled annual vacation – or would the ABC soap indeed schedule a hiatus for three weeks in July? Soap Opera Network did some digging and has the answer.

According to sources, “All My Children” is indeed halting production for three weeks this summer before ceasing production on ABC for good this August. The three week stoppage is expected to begin on Friday, July 1 just before the Fourth of July holiday. A final tape date for “All My Children” has not been set.

“All My Children” will last air on Friday, September 23, 2011. “The Chew” replaces the soap beginning Monday, September 26. Sister-soap “One Life to Live” will be replaced by “The Revolution” beginning Monday, January 23, 2012, according to sources.

Sarah Michelle Gellar Returns to Primetime; But is a Return to Daytime Next?

( — This September, in the aftermath of a big-screen career that never really caught fire, Sarah Michelle Gellar will return to the format that brought her mega-success: Prime-time Television. “Ringer” was officially picked up for at least 13 episodes in the Fall 2011 season by the CW network on Thursday. In the drama-thriller slated to air on Tuesday evenings, Gellar will play a woman on the run from her past who decides to take over the seemingly more secure life of her twin-sister. Gellar, of course, rose to fame on the WB/UPN hit series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” as heroine Buffy Summers. The cult classic lasted seven seasons from 1997 to 2003, started the vampire craze, and birthed the successful spin-off “Angel” starring co-star David Boreanaz. In a recent online interview, Gellar addressed many things including the cancellation of “AMC” and a possible return to the television series that earned her the 1995 Daytime Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Younger Actress for the role of Kendall Hart.

The 34-year old actress who was a fan of “AMC” before joining the cast in February of 1993 and has remained one since departing the role a year before scheduled in July of 1995 was very disappointed upon learning of the cancellation. Gellar, who has remained close friends with former “AMC” co-stars such as Eva La Rue (ex-Maria) and Sydney Penny (ex-Julia), gave Wonderwall this very stern and passionate statement on the topic:

“I’m very upset about that. First of all, they had the audacity to cancel it on my birthday. So let’s have that discussion. I think it’s criminal. I remember pretending to be sick when I was younger and staying home and like watching the ABC soap lineup in bed. And I realize it’s tough economic times and it wasn’t necessarily financially working, but there has to be a way to make it work. And these shows have been on for 40 years. I’m sorry, [but] I don’t see either one of these shows they’re replacing with it lasting more than a year. I really don’t, and I say that with confidence. And I think, I don’t think they tried hard enough to save the genre. And, it’s just devastating to me.”

Despite issues with Susan Lucci (Erica Kane) that she has touched on only briefly in recent years, the actress is up for a return to the soap opera that put her on the map. But not in the role she originated. The actress has high praise for Alicia Minshew, who successfully took over the role of Kendall Hart in January 2002 and recently became the thirteenth actress in the 41-year history of “AMC” to earn an Outstanding Lead Actress Daytime Emmy nomination. Gellar notes that [Minshew] “does an amazing job with [the role], and it is her character now, so I’d have to play someone else. I could be the UPS man.” Gellar insists that she would not hesitate to return for a guest spot if she was contacted by the ABC soap.

Before joining “AMC” at the age of 16, Gellar starred on the syndicated teen drama “Swans Crossing” which aired 65 episodes in the summer of 1992. Her co-stars included future “AMC” star Shane McDermott (ex-Scott) and Mira Sorvino. Gellar’s film career included roles in the successful horror flicks “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” “Scream 2″ and the lead role on the 2004 hit “The Grudge.” In 1999, the actress made her first big impression on film audiences playing the bad-girl in the romantic flick “Cruel Intentions;” her kiss with co-star Selma Blair earned her and Blair the 2000 MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss. Gellar made smaller splashes in films such as the “Scooby Doo” series which co-starred husband Freddie Prinze, Jr. and “Harvard Man.” Gellar and Prinze, who have been married since September 2002, welcomed their first child, daughter Charlotte Grace, in September 2009.

                Y&R Recap: Friday, May 20, 2011

( — "The Young and the Restless" Episode Recap – Friday, May 20, 2011.

                IT HAPPENED TODAY…

Sam and Sharon were able to find Fanny and bring her back to the barn. Piper was happy that she was back and asked if she could stay with Sharon for the night. Sharon initially declined but when Sam returned and told Piper that he called her family to ask if it would be alright for her to stay there till the storm passed, she was excited. As Sharon and Piper bunked together in the barn, Sharon asked for Sam to stay with them. He said he would until they drifted off to sleep. Sharon kindly expressed how she liked being around him.

Traci arrived at the hospital to see how everyone was doing. She brought clothes for Abby to wear back home once she was released from the hospital. When she entered the room to see her niece, she broke down in a flood of tears, remembering her last time with Colleen. Abby quickly gave her a hug to soothe her and Traci excused herself. Seconds after Traci left, Detective Mauro entered and started to pump Abby for answers about the condition of Tucker and Ashley's relationship at the time of the rehearsal dinner. Abby quickly deduced that she was trying to place the accident solely on Ashley's shoulders. She told the detective that everyone was happy about getting married, but it was she that didn't want them to be together. When Det. Mauro asked about the trashing of the wedding site, Abby said that it only brought her mother and Tucker closer, even being on the same side of being fed up with Abby's actions. Ashley walked in just in time to hear Abby admit that she was the one that set up Tucker and Diane to meet each other at the cabin. She immediately halted the interrogation and told Abby to keep her mouth shut.

Diane cooked soup for Adam and thanked him for letting her stay there. Adam liked the fact that he had her around and couldn't wait to see the look on Victor's face when he learned that she was staying there. Diane decided on taking a run on the grounds, while Adam enjoyed her cooking. When she returned she asked Adam if it would be fine with him to have Kyle come to the house. He agreed to let him stay there as long as he didn't give him any problems. Before they could continue their conversation, though, there was a knock on the door. Diane opened it up to see Victor, who wanted to know what she was doing there. Adam told him that she was his new roommate. Victor threw out how Diane was nothing more than a user, sleeping her way around. He goes on by naming himself, Nick, and Jack as her conquests. Diane balked and told her ex that she and Adam were nothing but roommates, but Adam, however, had fun making Victor believe they were hitting the sheets, too. Victor warned him that he wasn't going to let them play him and walked off.

Sofia visited Tucker's room and saw Katherine there by his bedside. She was stunned to see him back on a ventilator and Katherine explained that due to the loophole, he could have a feeding tube. Sofia showed her gratitude to Katherine by giving her a hug. The two started to talk on how Sofia and Tucker first got to know one another. She shared how her father and he were friends and when he died, Tucker cared for her as his own.

Jack told Traci that with Tucker lapsed in a coma and with Ashley not at her best, they seriously needed to find out the status of Jabot. Traci snapped and told him that his family was more important than his obsession with the company. Jack told her that he does care about the family but he does know that they can't let their family legacy fall apart. Unfortunately for Jack, his words fell on deaf ears when an upset Traci walked out on him. Not giving up on what he wanted, he spotted Katherine and asked on Tucker's condition. She is touched that he is concerned but that those feelings changed when he started to question her about who was going to oversee Jabot. Katherine told him that it wasn't the time to be putting business on the table; her son was her first and only priority.

Abby told Ashley that she was sorry for what she did; she never meant to cause her any pain, but she wanted to prove to her that Tucker couldn't be trusted, especially if he did go to Diane. Ashley was angry that her daughter would do so much to cause her pain and make her doubt the love that Tucker had for her. She left her daughter to go see Tucker. She quietly told him that she had to do whatever she could to keep Abby out of trouble for hitting him.

Victor showed up at the hospital to see about Ashley and Abby when he ran into Jack. Jack filled him on on how they were doing; as well as Katherine and Tucker. He then started to talk to Victor about how Tucker's company and Jabot would need to have someone overseeing them. Jack was insulted though when Victor smugly pointed out that with Tucker in a coma, Jabot could be the company that suffers. When Traci returned, he vented about his conversation with Victor. Annoyed once again, Traci told Jack that he'd choose Jabot over his family if he had the chance. Before they could get into it, Abby showed up and told Jack and Traci about what she did. When Victor showed up, he wanted to know what was going on; but Jack stopped her from talking by telling him she was just overtired. Alone with his daughter, he offered for her to stay with him, but she declined saying she needed to be with her mother. When Victor left, he received a call telling him that the order went through to keep Adam and Diane from being able to enter the house.

Katherine returned to Tucker's room, shortly followed by Sofia and Tucker's lawyer. He shared that there were other portions of the will that they needed to discuss. The lawyer told them that in the event that something were to happen to Tucker, Katherine would be the sole controller of all of his businesses. They were shocked however, when they learned that 20 million dollars was set aside in the event that the son he was searching for comes to light.

Jack tried to talk Ashley into giving him the reigns of Jabot. Unfortunately for him and her, their conversation is interrupted when Detective Mauro showed up with a police officer to arrest Ashley.
