'Precious' Star Barret Helms Joins Cast of 'One Life to Live'

( — It seems that not even cancellation can stop the long-running ABC soap from introducing new characters. With less than nine months left until the final episode is set to air, “One Life to Live” has cast Barret Helms in the newly created contract role of “Baz.” Fans may remember Helms from his role as Precious’ dream boyfriend in the Oscar-nominated movie “Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire.”

According to ABC, the character will have “a unique connection to one of Llanview’s more recently-arrived residents.” Judging by the description, could the “recently-arrived resident” that he is be connected could be James’ (Nic Robuck) ex-girlfriend Deanna Forbes (Nafessa Williams), or could it be someone else?  Stay tuned to find out!

In casting breakdowns, the character was previously listed named “Robbie,” who was described “a sexy and confident college student who interns at a well-known newspaper.” Soap Opera Network recently learned that “OLTL” was in the process of casting that role when ABC Daytime President Brian Frons cancelled the show, along with sister soap “All My Children,” back on April 14. You can read a summary of the “Robbie” audition script, as well watch a video clip of another actor, Marque Richardson, auditioning for the role, here.

A first airdate for Helms has not been announced, although he is expected to begin appearing sometime in mid-June.

        Y&R Recap: Monday, April 25, 2011

( — "The Young and the Restless" Episode Recap – Monday, April 25, 2011.

A frustrated Kevin continues to work at computer when Chloe comes in. She pretends to still be mad at him for helping Jana, which only irritates him more. When she tells him that she's on his side and doesn't understand why Daniel isn't glad that he's getting close to finding his daughter. Kevin tells Chloe that he could care less on Daniel's feelings, he's doing whatever until he gets to the truth. Meanwhile, a freaked Jana covers when Agnes asks if her baby is the same one she's watching. Rushing her out, Jana gleams at having the truth in her hands.

As Sharon and Sam bond over the fate of the sick lamb, at the church, Adam has made his presence known at the church. The pastor becomes a mediator and tells everyone to let him have his say. Adam tells them how Sharon made him changed man; but soon plays the blame game by telling everyone that it was them that pushed Sharon to her breaking point until it killed her. He soon starts to attack each individual, tossing out their dirty deeds in the church, causing Nikki to bolt and the rest to snap at him for his tirade. Having had enough, Victor faces him and demands that he get out.

Kevin calls Jana asking her if she can give the account number to him again. An over-excited Jana asks Kevin to come over because she wants to tell him something. He agrees and plans an 'act' with Chloe in an effort to get what he needs from Jana. After piecing together the shredding bank statement, Jana realizes that Billy bought Lucy from Primrose. She starts fantasizing about Kevin and her becoming the "new" parents of Lucy. Her fantasies are stopped when both Kevin and Chloe arrive. Chloe and Kevin fake a fight with one another, which only fuels Jana's delusions that Kevin is better off with her.

Adam is hauled away by DA Spencer and his police officers, who have returned. A skittish Phyllis pulls Jack away to leave the minute her eyes lock on Nick's. Diane also can't keep her eyes off of Nick and goes over to see how he is. He cooly tells her her place is with her husband. As everyone has exited, Billy and Daniel are the only two left. Daniel stresses that the two of them need to talk about baby. When Abby and Victoria return, Billy quickly states that the two men have business to discuss and they'll meet up at the reception. Once alone, Daniel tells a stunned Billy that he is Lucy's father.

Everyone heads to the memorial reception where they state that Sharon definitely is better off with Adam out of her life. In a area alone, Jack and Phyllis quietly talk. When he coyly comments how there was only one man that truly had Sharon's heart, Phyllis bristles. She soon realizes that Jack suspects something and says they need to find a place to talk. When she leaves for the ladies room, a nosey Diane probes into what is bothering him. He coldly tells her he has no plans on sharing anything with an ex. Diane realizes that Nick and Phyllis hooked up.

Jana is about to tell Kevin everything about Lucy being his niece when she's interrupted by Victoria's arrival. Meanwhile, back at the church, Daniel apologizes for keeping the truth from him. Billy thinks that Daniel is going to ask for Lucy back, but is relieved when Daniel tells him that he doesn't want to do that at all; he wants Victoria and Billy to continue raising the baby. Daniel continues to fill him in on Kevin and Jana trying to find the little girl and Billy states that they have no clue as to who has the baby. When Daniel shares that Kevin has been trying to hack into his bank account, a confident Billy tells him that he won't be able to and not to worry. Nobody is going to take Lucy away from them.

Back at Sam's farm, Sharon and he are glad to see that the little lamb is on the mend. She becomes overcome with happiness and starts to cry. Sam is surprised at her emotions and tells her that they saved the little lamb together.

Adam demands that Victor come see him at the police station. When he arrives, he snidely tells his father that he wants all of the charges dropped. Victor refuses to give him what he wants and is set to leave. He becomes interested, however, when Adam tells him that Sharon wrote several letters to the family before she died. Victor asks where he has the letters and Adam states that they are in a safe place. When his father demands that he hand them over, Adam in turn demands that he talk to Noah in dropping the charges against him.

At Jack's place, Jack forces Phyllis to admit that she slept with Nick. She tells him that she loves him and that she didn't mean to hurt him. A heartbroken Jack tells her that she never does. He says he doesn't know why she keeps sabotaging their relationship when he thinks things are going to get better between them. Phyllis admits her faults but wants them to work on the relationship. Jack, however, tells her that there's no more for them and that he wants her to leave.

At Billy and Victoria's, Jana heads upstairs and overhears Chloe and Kevin joking about how they fooled Jana into believing they truly were mad at one another. Sensing that she has come upstairs, the two quickly put on their squabble. Kevin head downstairs and asks Jana what it was she wanted to share with him. Upset with him, she quickly tells him that it was nothing important. When she heads upstairs, Daniel takes the opportunity to tell him that he'll help find the baby. Kevin is surprised. Upstairs, Jana lays in wait when Victoria and Billy leave from putting Lucy to bed. She scoops up Lucy and says that she's taking her away from there. When Delia walks in, she decides to take her too.

On the Next The Young and the Restless…

        • Jana reveals to Kevin Lucy is his niece.

Y&R PreVUE: Week of April 25 Edition

( — A look at what's happening on "The Young and the Restless" during the week of April 25, 2011.

On Monday, April 25 Adam rails each person at the funeral for their role in Sharon's death. That same day Phyllis confesses all to a furious Jack. Sharon makes a new friend. Victor wants what Adam has, but Adam has a price.

The Inside Story: At the End of Her Rope
Agnes tells Jana that the outfit that is in the box is the one that her baby was wearing when Primrose took her. Jana realizes that Billy and Victoria are the parents of Daisy and Daniel's daughter. She quickly goes to work in piecing together the shredded bank documents and realizes that the number that she gave Kevin is one and the same. Wanting to prove that she's still good for Kevin, she calls him with the good news and asks for them to meet. When Kevin arrives, he's surprised to see Chloe with Delia. The two pretend to have a tiff and Chloe promptly takes her daughter upstairs, leaving Kevin and Jana alone. She's about to tell him everything when an unsuspecting Victoria arrives with Abby. Kevin excuses himself to go upstairs to speak with Chloe, not paying attention to the fact that Jana is not that far behind, following him. Unaware that she is there listening, Kevin and Chloe make fun of the fact that they tricked her. While Jana is visibly upset, Chloe has even more reason to be when she realizes that Jana has listened in on their conversation. A furious Jana goes into the nursery and scoops up Lucy and Delia unnoticed. Meanwhile, at the church a determined Daniel wants to tell Billy the truth about baby Lucy. He tells a stunned Billy that the DNA test he took some time back proves that Lucy is his daughter. Billy becomes worried, thinking that Daniel is telling him this in an effort to take the baby away, but Daniel assures him that Billy and Victoria are good parents for her. A relieved Billy thanks Daniel, but his joy is soon halted when Daniel fills him in that Kevin and Jana have been digging into his bank records. Shortly after Billy arrives home, he and Victoria discover that both Delia and Lucy aren't in the nursery. Victoria calls the police to report that they have been kidnapped.

A Closer Look: The Truth Comes Out
New on the kidnapping travels fast, as an Amber Alert has been issued. A frantic Chloe returns to the home and lights into Billy and Victoria for not believing her when she warned them about Jana's irrational behavior. A scared Victoria calls herself a bad mother for letting something like this happen. Seeing that she's upset, Billy opens up and admits the truth to her. Meanwhile, Daniel also is in search of the baby, which troubles Abby. When she questions his behavior, Daniel tells her that he's Lucy's father. The news becomes unnerving for her but her feelings soon change to anger when she learns that he shared the truth with Lily, rather than her. She lashes out at him for keeping her in the dark. More become involved regarding the baby when news filters to Lauren and Phyllis, who both corner Daniel, each demanding he tells the truth. As the truth has come to light for those both connected to Billy, Victoria and Daniel, trouble looms for Kevin, who receives a phone call from Jana. She tells him to meet her at an abandoned school. When he arrives, he learns the truth from her that Lucy is his niece. He's happy that she's found her, but his happiness soon turns to fear when he realizes that she is the one that kidnapped both her and Delia. A panicked and unstable Jana pulls a gun on Kevin and demand that they leave together and become a family. A quick thinking Kevin manages to get a message out on what has happened.

( — Earlier today, Soap Opera Digest posted breaking news on their website when they reported that actress Cady McClain would be returning to ABC’s “All My Children” in the role of Dixie Cooney. Shortly afterward, Soaps in Depth posted their own version of the news. Who to believe? At this point, it doesn’t matter as long as Dixie’s back! Then again, Cady did return in early 2010 when Dixie, who died via poisoned pancakes (what were the writers thinking?), and her ghost/spirit was used to usher out Palmer Cortlandt, who had “died” on the soap a few months after his real-life portrayer, James Mitchell, passed away.

This will mark the second time that McClain has returned to a soap shortly after it had received its walking papers from its broadcast network. McClain returned her character Rosanna Cabot, which garnered her second Daytime Emmy Award in 2004 in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, to “As The World Turns” just weeks before the soap ceased filming after 54-years in production. McClain won her first Emmy in 1990 in the category of Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal of Dixie on “AMC.” “As The World Turns” last aired on Friday, September 17, 2010.

                  According to Soap Opera Digest

Soap Opera Digest has learned that Cady McClain will be back in Pine Valley as Dixie before the show’s September finale — and that the deal to bring her back was in the works before the show’s cancellation. McClain’s last appearance (as Dixie’s spirit) was in 2010, when Dixie welcomed Palmer to heaven in April.

According to ABC Soaps In Depth

Despite reports saying that Cady McClain will be bringing Dixie back to ALL MY CHILDREN before the soap ends in September, Soaps In Depth has learned that the fan favorite’s return isn’t completely carved in stone just yet. A source close to the actress shares that while negotiations are underway with AMC, nothing has been signed for McClain to reprise the role of Tad’s love.
