More than $14 Million Raised During Disney|ABC ‘Day of Giving’

“General Hospital” stars Kirsten Storms (Maxie Jones), Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis), and Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) were just some of the actors from the daytime drama series who took the time to answer calls from viewers all across America as part of Disney|ABC Television Group’s “Day of Giving,” which took place on Thursday, August 31, and continued well into Friday morning. In conjunction with the American Red Cross, the initiative has so far raised $14.3 million in aid that’ll help benefit those impacted by Hurricane Harvey.

First reported by The New York Times, Paul Lee has stepped down as president, ABC Entertainment Group, effective immediately. Ben Sherwood, co-chairman, Disney Media Networks and president, Disney|ABC Television Group, has named Channing Dungey as Lee’s successor as president, ABC Entertainment. Dungey, who is credited with the successful launch of such shows as “Scandal,” “Criminal Minds,” “How to Get Away with Murder,” “Quantico,” “Army Wives” and “Once Upon A Time,” will report directly to Sherwood. Patrick Moran, executive vice president, ABC Studios, will continue to oversee day-to-day operations, and will also report directly to Mr. Sherwood.

ABC Daytime Loses ‘The View’ In the Midst of Reported ‘Dysfunction’ at the Network!

With ABC becoming full owner of “The View,” after buying out Barbara Walters‘ stake over the summer, the network announced today that the daytime talker will now fall under the purview of ABC News after more than 17 years under the entertainment division, this despite a drastic makeover this fall with the inclusion of three new hosts joining Whoopi Goldberg on the panel. With the talk show now falling under the umbrella of the news division, “General Hospital” and “The Chew” remain the only entertainment programming airing during the daytime on the network.

‘Nashville’ Returning For 22 Episode Third Season; ‘Last Man Standing’ Also Renewed

After renewing a slew of its comedies and dramas, ABC announced that it has also renewed “Nashville” for a third season and “Last Man Standing” for a fourth season. The pickups of both series concludes ABC’s renewals for the 2014-2015 television season. The network will formally announce its slate of new and returning series on Tuesday, May 13 during its upfront presentation at Lincoln Center.
