On the Monday, October 12, 2026, episode of “Beyond the Gates,” Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) and Hayley (Marquita Goings) each laid it on the line, Tyrell (Jaden Lucas Miller) suddenly got double the attention, and Jacob (Jibre Hordges) searched and found.
Papers
Hayley came to Bill’s office at his request, where he presented her with divorce papers. However, realizing that Bill wouldn’t let her sign the documents until she kept her part of the bargain, she produced what she promised was all copies of her recordings implicating Martin, plus the device they were recorded on and passwords to cloud storage services. Bill noticed that Hayley no longer wore her smug expression and gloated that she had underestimated him.
Looking over the papers, Hayley was pleased that she was entitled to everything Bill had said she would be. She wanted to leave for St. Bart’s right away, but Bill wanted to first ensure that she couldn’t lay claim to any more of his holdings. Hayley cracked that she would have killed Bill faster if she hadn’t had to make it look like an accident – then told him that he could finally have Dani. She predicted that reunion would be short-lived, though, since Andre had never cheated on Dani, who wouldn’t be able to get past Bill spending years “dogging [Dani] out.” Hayley signed the papers, and Bill threw her out of his office.
Memory Of Our Love
Arriving at Garland, Shanice (Ernestine Johnson) made quick work of assuring that Ashley (Jen Jacob) saw her engagement ring from Ted. As Ashley gushed, Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix) came upon the happy scene and realized that Ted and Shanice were going to be married. Nicole told Ted (Keith D. Robinson) she was happy for him – but as soon as she got to her office, she dissolved in tears and called Dani (Karla Mosley), begging for her to come over.
While Andre (Sean Freeman) and Ashley were accepting best man and maid of honor duties, respectively, Nicole expressed confusion to Dani about her reaction to Ted’s engagement, given she had long moved on with Kial. After Nicole admitted that Shanice’s ring meant things with her and Ted were truly over, Dani wondered if that meant Ted was the man she truly wanted to be with. Nicole rejected the idea and felt silly for her outburst, as she just wanted to be as over the past as Ted seemed to be.
Black Triangle
Martin (Brandon Claybon) met with voters during the campaign event at Orphey Gene’s. One complained about his landlord jacking up his rent, while another, a reporter, remembered that Martin had been about to announce something at his presser the year before when he’d suddenly clammed up. Martin lied that he had wanted to make public a bill that would continue Vernon’s civil rights work, only for it to fall through at the last minute. The reporter bought it, but Martin looked flustered.
Samantha (Najah Jackson) was annoyed when Francesca (Madison Alsobrook) entered, flitting around Tyrell. She told Kat (Colby Nixon) that she was certain Tyrell was being manipulated by his new girlfriend. Just then, Jessica (Camryn Jade) shocked everyone by making a sudden return appearance and telling Tyrell that, not only had she made a mistake choosing to attend UCLA over Banneker, but she’d made a mistake in letting Tyrell go. Kat had to keep the teens from escalating in front of Martin’s constituents; when Tyrell said he needed to think, Chessy became hurt and left the diner.
Ain’t Good Enough
Vernon (Clifton Davis) and Anita (Tamara Tunie) hoped to enjoy a peaceful meal at the country club, except Anastasia (Timeca Seretti) invaded their privacy and railed about the lowly Tyrell dating Francesca. The Duprees objected to Anastasia’s complaint that Tyrell was nothing more than the son of a homeless drug addict and her prediction that any offspring he and Chessy produced could be predisposed to such dependence. The arriving Chessy stunned her elders by informing them that Jessica wanted Tyrell back.
Anastasia impressed upon Chessy that if Tyrell dumped her for Jessica, then Tyrell wasn’t worthy of her. The Duprees went to Orphey Genes, and Anita encouraged Tyrell to open up about what was happening; Tyrell felt that, no matter what his decisions were, someone was always mad at him about them. Anita understood that Tyrell needed space and time to think, while Samantha, who was still annoyed with Jessica for hurting him her brother, agreed to support Jessica in favor of “that troll” Francesca.
Hands Up
At the police station, Jacob was surprised to see Elon (Malachi Malik) and Izaiah (Lami) laughing it up over their football bet; Izaiah even invited his pop to the next Banneker game. Afterward, Elon brought Jacob new information, which Jacob called “excessive”; Elon wanted to be sure Jacob could do what needed to be done in regard to it. Meanwhile, Naomi (Arielle Prepetit) visited a down-in-the-dumps Smitty (Mike Manning), assuring him that all Jacob had was a video that had probably been altered.
Smitty was dismayed that Jacob seemed to suspect him of foul play after they had worked together so closely trying to bring The Impaler down. Just then, Jacob arrived with a search warrant and two uniformed officers; Naomi, in her role as Smitty’s lawyer, advised him to allow the probe. Smitty watched in horror as Jacob fished out a pill bottle from his bookshelf; as Smitty blubbered denials, Naomi told him to stop talking. Jacob read Smitty his rights, handcuffed him, and led him out, leaving behind a ransacked condo.
