The Writers Guild of America West (WGAW) and Writers Guild of America East (WGAE) announced nominations on Tuesday for outstanding achievement in screenwriting, television, streaming, news, radio/audio, and promotional writing during calendar year 2025 for “The 2026 Annual Writers Guild Awards,” taking place on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at the JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. LIVE (hosted by Atsuko Okatsuka) and at the Edison Ballroom in New York City.

Competing this year in the Daytime Drama category are “Beyond the Gates” (CBS), “General Hospital” (ABC) and “The Young and the Restless” (CBS/Paramount+). This marks the first-ever nomination in the category for”Beyond the Gates,” which premiered in February 2025. “The Young and the Restless” took home the award in 2025 for material aired in 2024.

Led by head writers Michele Val Jean and Robert Guza Jr., the nominated writers at “Beyond the Gates” include Sara A. Bibel, Jazmen Darnell Brown, Ron Carlivati, Susan Dansby, Cheryl L. Davis, Christopher Dunn, Gregori J. Martin, Lynn Martin, Danielle Paige, Judy Tate and Teresa Zimmerman.

Represented by head writers Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten, the nominated writers at “General Hospital” include Cathy LePard, Emily Culliton, Nigel Campbell, Suzanne Flynn, Charlotte Gibson, Kate Hall, Stacey Pulwer, Ryan Quan, Louise Rozett, Scott Sickles and Micah Steinberg.

Over at “The Young and the Restless,” the soap opera is led by associate head writers Jeff Beldner, Marla Kanelos and Dave Ryan, with writers Susan Banks, Amanda L. Beall, Marin Gazzaniga, Rebecca McCarty and Madeleine Phillips.

“I am beyond thrilled and excited to congratulate the Writing Team of #BeyondTheGates for our first Writers Guild Award nomination! You guys rock and I’m so grateful for all of you,” commented Michele Val Jean in a post on X (formerly Twitter) in response to the nomination news.

For the full list of nominees in other categories, visit www.wga.org or www.wgaeast.org.

Editor’s Note: As has been the case for several years, “The Bold and the Beautiful” did not submit itself for contention. Additionally, this marks the first time since 2017 that “Days of our Lives” did not receive a nomination after previously winning for four consecutive years (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024) under then head writer Ron Carlivati, who took home his sixth win in the category overall after previously winning in 2015 and 2016 for his work as head writer of “General Hospital.”

Due to his going fi-core status during the 2007/2008 Writers Strike, Josh Griffith, head writer and executive producer of “The Young and the Restless,” is ineligible (see story) for a WGA nomination.
