BREAKDOWN

As revealed in this week’s preview, “The Young and the Restless” will air a classic episode on Thursday, November 23 (Thanksgiving Day) in place of an original.

The 1993 episode chosen by producers is very telling as it seemingly provides a backstory to the current umbrella storyline involving the return of J. Eddie Peck into the role of Cole Howard and the introduction of “As The World Turns” alum Colleen Zenk as Aunt Jordan.

Originally aired on February 4, 1993 on CBS, episode #5044 sees Ryan and Nina (Scott Reeves and Tricia Cast) run into each other at Gina’s (the restaurant), and the two decide to have dinner together due to Gina’s (Patty Weaver) matching-making skills. Victor’s (Eric Braeden) secretary, Connie (then played by Kathleen Fitzgerald), informs him that Eve Howard (Margaret Mason) is passing through. Later, Traci (Beth Maitland) stops by Lauren’s (Tracey E. Bregman) for old-time sake. The two trade barbs as Traci confronts Lauren about her affair with Brad (Don Diamont). Meanwhile, Nicholas (then played by John Alden) asks Victoria (then played by Heather Tom) why she is at home and not with Ryan. Victoria also gets help from her mother, Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), to help mend her broken heart. Look for Michael (Christian Le Blanc) to cover his tracks. Finally, Eve shows up at Victor’s door.

Programming Note: “The Young and the Restless” will not air on Friday, November 24 due to CBS Sports coverage of SEC and Big 10 football games. Among these are Iowa at Nebraska and Missouri at Arkansas.

The daytime drama series returns with all-new episodes on Monday, November 27.

Weekdays at 12:30 p.m. ET/11:30 a.m. PT on CBS. Stream Live and On Demand on Paramount+.
