THE NUMBERS

There are just seven weeks left in the 2022-2023 broadcast television season, and the race to the finish line can’t come fast enough.

During the week of July 24-28, 2023, there was nothing to write home about for most daytime broadcast shows except for ABC’s “The View” (2.325 million). Although down week-to-week among Total Viewers (-16,000), the series improved its performance compared to the same week last year by +16,000 viewers. Compared to two years earlier, “The View” was up +136,000 viewers. Meanwhile, “NBC News Daily” (1.085 million) was the only series to see week-to-week improvement among viewers, gaining +82,000 viewers.

The Young and the Restless” (3.107 million), “The Bold and the Beautiful” (2.769 million), “The View,” “General Hospital” (2.057 million) and “TODAY 3rd Hour” (1.709 million) closed the week in the Top 5 spots, excluding “The Price is Right” and “Let’s Make a Deal” both of which aired amended repeats for the week.

On Wednesday, July 26, the broadcast networks aired special coverage of President Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, entering a plea of guilty during a court hearing that was aired live. As a result, “The Bold and the Beautiful” aired for just 21 minutes while “NBC News Daily” was amended and broken out (retitled to “NBC News Daily – ND”). “GMA3: What You Need to Know” (1.541 million) and “The View” each aired for just 31 minutes.

Why we don’t have Households or Total Viewers for “The Price is Right” and “Let’s Make a Deal”
