THE NUMBERS

What was thought to be a fluke due to the previous week’s long holiday has turned into a pattern, according to the latest ratings we’ve received for the week of July 10-14, 2023.

It looks like we’ll have to wait until September to see how game shows “Let’s Make a Deal” and “The Price is Right” perform among Households and Total Viewers as both shows continue airing amended repeats, which means Nielsen did not record Households or Total Viewers for either show. Ironically, Nielsen is recording the demo ratings for “The Price is Right” but not for “Let’s Make a Deal.” “The Talk,” which shut down production in mid-May due to the ongoing Writers Strike, has also been airing amended repeats, but from time to time, we’ve been able to capture its Households and Total Viewers, including this week.

For the week, “The Young and the Restless” (3.136 million) was again officially ranked as daytime broadcast’s most-watched series, albeit it was down -4,000 viewers week-to-week. “The Bold and the Beautiful” (2.750 million) was up +33,000 viewers over the week ago, while “General Hospital” (2.003 million) was up +63,000 viewers compared to its performance one week earlier. Compared to the same week last year, “The View” (2.158 million) was flat among viewers. “NBC News Daily” (1.082 million) saw its second consecutive week of increases among Total Viewers.

In Women 18-49 and Women 25-54, “The Price is Right” remained on top despite airing repeats, managing to tie or improve on its performance compared to the same week last year and two years earlier in both demographics. Based on the show’s demographic performance, we’d expect its Total Viewers and Households to also be on par with previous figures had Nielsen provided those numbers.

What follows is a breakdown of how the daytime broadcast shows performed during the week of July 10-14, 2023 in Women 18-49 Rating, Women 25-54 Rating, Households and Total Viewers, including a look at their comparable performance last year (2022) and two years ago (2021), respectively. A closer look at the daytime soaps, including their daily performance breakdown in the demos, will be posted Thursday.

Note*: Officially, rankings are sorted by the rounded figures released by Nielsen. We are separately providing the unrounded demos for informational purposes only. “NBC News Daily” year ago and two years ago figures are compared to the performance of “Days of our Lives.” Ratings for Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 were unavailable at press time.

“Let’s Make a Deal,” “The Price is Right” and “The Talk”** aired repeats all week and are excluded from the rankings. Any data points for either show listed below are for informational purposes only and will not factor into either show’s weekly or season averages.
