Nearly every daytime broadcast series saw improvement compared to the same week last year among Total Viewers during the week of May 9-13, 2022, spearheaded by “The Bold and the Beautiful” (3.320 million) which was up +515,000 viewers, “The Talk” (1.548 million) up +307,000 viewers, and “The Young and the Restless” (3.525 million) up +247,000 viewers.
“The Price is Right” (3.842 million / 4.393 million ) once again led all daytime broadcast shows among Total Viewers with its second half-hour topping the list in Women 18-49 with a 0.5 rating, same as last week and last year, and the second half-hour tying for first place in Women 25-54 with “B&B” and “Y&R,” each with a 0.7 rating. The first half-hour of the game show ranked fourth in Women 25-54 with a 0.6 rating, tied with “TODAY 3rd Hour” (1.974 million).
For the third time in six weeks, “B&B” attracted its largest overall audience of the 2021-2022 television season which also happened to mark a new high since the week of April 20-24, 2020, the final week of pre-pandemic originals. The soap was up +212,000 viewers week to week and +1.523 million over its comparable performance in 2020 when it aired its third consecutive week of classic episodes as a result of the pandemic production shutdown.
Up over its performance one year earlier, +247,000 viewers, “Y&R” also saw a marked increase in viewership compared to its comparable 2020 performance when it too aired its third consecutive week of classic episodes. The soap was up +1.332 million viewers over 2020.
“General Hospital” (2.268 million) continues to see improvement among viewers, up +53,000 viewers week to week and up +163,000 viewers compared to the same week last year. In fact, “GH” was up +131,000 viewers from its comparable performance in 2020 when it was approaching a period in which it began to run out of pre-pandemic originals. “GH” is just one of two daytime broadcast shows airing originals during the same period in 2020 to see improvement in 2022 – “The Talk” was up +129,000 viewers over its 2020 originals.
In Women 18-49, “GH” tied for second place with the first half-hour of “The Price is Right,” “B&B,” “Y&R” and “TODAY 3rd Hour,” each with a 0.4 rating. In Women 25-54, “GH” ranked fifth, tied with “Let’s Make a Deal” (2.437 million / 2.753 million), both with a 0.5 rating.
Along with“B&B” and “GH,” “Days of our Lives” (1.746 million) is one of only three daytime broadcast shows to see improvement week to week, up +50,000 viewers, and marking at least the seventh week in a row in which it has attracted a larger overall audience than “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna” (1.470 million). The drama had its best performance in viewers since the week of April 18-22, 2022. Year to year, “DAYS” was up +128,000 viewers.
