NBC has released the trailer of its true-crime limited series “The Thing About Pam,” based on the 2011 murder of Betsy Faria that resulted in her husband Russ’ conviction despite his insistence that he didn’t kill her. Although Russ was later exonerated, the brutal crime set off a chain of events that exposed a diabolical scheme deeply involving Pam Hupp (played by Oscar-winner Renée Zellweger in the series).
Set to premiere Tuesday, March 8 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on NBC, the series stars the aforementioned Zellweger as Pam Hupp, Judy Greer as former Lincoln County prosecutor Leah Askey, Josh Duhamel (“All My Children”) as Pam’s defense attorney Joel Schwartz, Katy Mixon (“American Housewife”) as Betsy Faria, Glenn Fleshler as Russ Faria. Gideon Adlon, Sean Bridgers, Suanne Spoke and Mac Brandt also star.
Before becoming a series, the real-life story was featured multiple times in episodes of “Dateline NBC,” and became the titular subject for the popular 2019 podcast “The Thing ABout Pam” which remains one of the most downloaded podcast on Apple Podcasts.
