THE NUMBERS

On Monday, November 1 and Friday, November 5, several daytime broadcast shows were preempted all or in part due to network news coverage of President Biden’s press conference at COP26 and the memorial service of Colin Powell. As a result, during the week of November 1-5, 2021 there were massive losses among Total Viewers compared to one week earlier. In the demos, only “The Young and the Restless,” “The Bold and the Beautiful” and the two half hours of “The Price is Right” managed to show improvement compared to the week of October 25-29, 2021.

Compared to the same week last year, all daytime broadcast shows again saw losses in Women 25-54 and Women 18-49 rating with the exception of “B&B” in the latter demo. The soap was flat year to year in Women 18-49 with a 0.36 rating. In Total Viewers, only “Y&R,” “B&B” and “General Hospital” saw improvements over their performance in 2020. “Y&R” was up +288,000 viewers, “B&B” was up +157,000 viewers and “GH” was up +11,000 viewers.

“The Talk” attracted its lowest audience since the week of October 4-8, 2021 with just 1.404 million viewers tuning in, marking the show’s lowest ratings so far this season with all five permanent co-hosts on deck. Natalie Morales joined the panel during the week of October 11-15, 2021.
